CROTON-HARMON – In partnership with Westchester County and local police, the installation of stop-arm cameras on school buses is underway.
The cameras, to be installed on all Croton-Harmon school buses, are designed to help deter unsafe driving and enhance student safety by capturing violations when motorists fail to stop for a school bus displaying its stop sign and flashing red lights.
With the new system in place, detected violations will automatically result in citations for any vehicle that passes a school buses with an extended stop arm, on both public roads and school campuses.
Other school districts in the area are also installing stop-arm red light cameras.
