POUGHKEEPSIE- Central Hudson has announced the launch of the Enhanced Energy Affordability Program (EEAP), a new two-year pilot program aimed at helping low and moderate-income customers manage rising energy costs.
The program is designed for customers who do not qualify for the federal Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) or Central Hudson’s existing Energy Affordability Program (EAP), but still need financial help paying their utility bills. EEAP provides eligible customers with a fixed monthly bill discount to reduce energy expenses.
According to Central Hudson, eligible applicants must be active electric or gas customers with household incomes at or below 100 percent of the state or area median income. Income guidelines can be found . Customers currently enrolled in the Energy Affordability Program are not eligible for EEAP.
“Energy costs can be a challenge for many households,” said Lauren Preston, Central Hudson’s chief customer services officer. “This program is designed to provide meaningful relief and help customers manage their bills more effectively.”
To apply, customers must submit proof of income for all household members from the past month, along with copies of their Central Hudson bills from the last three months. Bills can be downloaded through Central Hudson’s customer portal at .
