BREWSTER – The body of a Hispanic man was found in Brewster Wednesday.
The unidentified victim had been reported missing by family members since January 1.
The remains were discovered in a wooded area off Elmhurst Avenue in the village.
Police had been scouring the area for hours prior to the discovery.
The victim was reportedly found seated against a tree. He was pronounced dead by Putnam County Coroner Dr. Michael Nesheiwat and the remains were taken to Putnam Hospital for an autopsy.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation. A large presence of police units was observed throughout the village on Wednesday.
