MONTICELLO – In 2025, the Sullivan County Legislature focused on fiscal stability and public safety, successfully passing a budget that remained under the state tax cap. The body secured funds for road and bridge repairs without incurring new debt, and continued the life-saving EMS fly car program.
County Director of Communications Dan Hust said the free bus service, called Move Sullivan, expanded its routes and is a vital resource for the people of the county. “The fact that Sullivan County, a rural county in upstate New York, is offering free public transportation to much of Sullivan County is an incredible thing. And while this legislature wasn’t the one that started that, it certainly has opted to continue it.”
He said another significant accomplishment is the continued funding of the Promise Scholarship which pays tuition for young people who graduated from a Sullivan County school and live in Sullivan County, allowing them to attend SUNY Sullivan for free for up to two years, “making an incredible difference in the lives of hundreds of people.”
