‘Significant fire damage’ to Dick’s store at Galleria at Crystal Run

TOWN OF WALLKILL – Fire in a storeroom in the Dick’s sporting goods store in the Galleria at Crystal Run in the Town of Wallkill early Monday afternoon, caused significant damage to the store, Police Chief Robert Hertman told Mid-Hudson News.

The chief said he ordered the mall evacuated while Mechanicstown, Silver Lake and Goshen firefighters dealt with the fire, which is believed to be accidental in nature; however, the Orange County Fire Investigation team will determine the exact cause.

Dick’s store sustained fire and water damage and the Target store below, suffered water damage, Hertman said.

The mall was reopened in the early evening, but a robocall from the town stated the two impacted stores would remain closed until further notice.

There were no injuries.
