MONROE – Long-time Orange County Legislator Katie Bonelli, who was re-elected in November has notified the clerk of the legislature that she is resigning and will not serve in District One beginning January 1, 2026.
“It has been an honor and privilege to serve my current district,” she wrote in an email to Palm Tree Town and Kiryas Joel Administrator Gedalye Szegedin.
That means the district seat will be vacant and it will be up to the boards of Palm Tree, Kiryas Joel and Monroe to select a successor.
All three boards hope to select her replacement in time for the all county legislators to be sworn in on January 6.
