NEW PALTZ – Tim Rogers has served as New Paltz village mayor for a decade and in a little over a week, he will assume his new role as town supervisor.

While the town and village share some services at present -including police, fire, assessor and justice, he would like to explore total consolidation of the two local governments.

“My goal is to put all of the possibilities into a consolidation agreement and present that idea to the public and ideally have the public vote on whether we want to make that next leap,” he said. “I think that is my preferred outcome based on my experience having been mayor for the last 10-and-a-half years. I think that makes a great deal of sense.”

Short of a full merger, Rogers would like to consolidate the town and village public works and building departments among other possibilities.
