POUGHKEEPSIE – City police, fire, and EMS responded to the area of Casa Latina Grocery at Main Street and Corlies Avenue around 9 a.m. for a report of an unconscious man with a head injury. When first responders arrived, the nature of the head injury resembled a gunshot, but further examination indicated it was likely caused when the man was struck with an unknown object.
Police received information that the victim’s brother was believed to be the assailant, and the attack occurred just over a block away at the brother’s residence at 34 Corlies Avenue. One first responder told Mid-Hudson News that the victim was believed to have been pistol-whipped by his brother. Several uniformed officers and detectives rushed to the 34 Corlies Avenue address, shutting the roadway down to traffic for a few minutes as they continued their investigation.
Further investigation revealed that the two brothers had a disagreement while intoxicated on Wednesday morning, which led to a physical altercation. The brother found at the grocery store was treated for his injuries at a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
