NANUET – The Special Investigation Office of the State Attorney’s Office is investigating the death of a man who was struck and killed after he got out of his car on the Thruway and was struck and killed.

The incident that claimed the life of Bavo Nondo on December 18 involved an off-duty New York City Police officer in Nanuet.

At about 4:40 a.m., the officer was entering the highway and struck Nondo.

The off-duty officer was treated at a local hospital, but had no significant physical injuries.
