MONTICELLO – The Sullivan County Coalition Against Antisemitism says it is “shocked and saddened to learn that innocent Jewish participants in a Chanukah celebration in Australia were victims of a horrendous terrorist attack.”

In a statement on Monday, the local group said, “Though a world away, our hearts go out to the families of those killed and we pray for a speedy and full recovery for those injured.”

The coalition said they are concerned that this latest assault underscores how vulnerable Jews are wherever they live. We pray that this shocking attack will underscore the need for respect for all faiths and religious observances.”

The Sullivan County Coalition Against Antisemitism represents more than a dozen local Jewish organizations and Jewish houses of worship joined in their commitment to combating antisemitism and hate in all its forms.
