POUGHKEEPSIE – Longtime public servant and current Assistant County Executive, Gregg Pulver, was unanimously confirmed as County Executive Sue Serino’s choice to serve as the new Deputy County Executive.

Minority Leader Yvette Valdés Smith was one of the first lawmakers to offer a standing ovation for Pulver at Monday night’s meeting.  Pulver has been serving as Assistant County Executive under Serino for the past year.  The change in titles comes as Serino made minor changes to her administration in the past month.

When naming him as the assistant county exec last year, Serino said, “Gregg has been a trusted partner for many years, and I’ve always admired his unwavering devotion to serving the people of Dutchess County. From his years of public service as legislature chairman and county comptroller, to his work on the farm and with local organizations, Gregg truly understands the heartbeat of our community. His vision and experience will help advance our goals and enhance the quality of life for all residents.”

Following his confirmation on Monday, the Pine Plains resident told Mid-Hudson News, “It’s truly an honor to get unanimous support for my confirmation. I am very humbled and grateful that my years of service to Dutchess County were recognized. I look forward to serving County Executive Serino to further her vision for Dutchess County.”

Pulver’s commitment to public service includes five years on the Pine Plains School Board, 12 years as Pine Plains Supervisor, 10 years on the county legislature, with six as chairman, and county comptroller before moving to Serino’s administration.

In his alleged spare time, the professional farmer was a member of the National Ski Patrol at Catamount Mountain from 1983 to 2024.
