POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County is scheduled to approve the 2026 budget on Monday, December 8, 2026, at the 6:30 p.m. board meeting.  The $651 million spending plan was presented by County Executive Sue Serino and reviewed by the legislature’s Budget and Finance Committee during the month of November.  The committee made very few amendments to the proposed budget.

At Monday’s meeting, the members will have their last chance to offer amendments to the spending plan before its approval.

Dutchess County District Attorney Anthony Parisi is hoping funding will be restored to his department.  The DA provided the budget committee with a fact-filled presentation in November, seeking funding for additional positions driven by changes to the Discovery Law at the state level, which created an enormous burden for prosecutors across the state.  Despite the DA noting that many of the committee members tout themselves as being pro-public safety, their willingness to assist him is absent.  “While everyone likes to publicly champion their commitment to public safety,” he told lawmakers, “The 2026 budget tells a very different story.”

The public is welcome to attend the meeting at the Dutchess County Office Building.
