NEWBURGH – The city courthouse in Newburgh had to be evacuated at about 3:30 p.m. on Thursday when a person in custody of the police department set off a fire sprinkler head causing water to flow and the fire alarm to go off.

There were reports of damage to the building as a result, but no confirmation of that from city spokesman Michael Neppl.

He said the sprinkler head had to be reprogrammed by the city fire department.
