KINGSTON – Father Frank Alagna, a founding member of Ulster Immigrant Defense Network, passed away on Saturday, November 29 at the age of 81.

Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger called him “a spiritual and community leader who worked tirelessly on behalf of our most vulnerable community members, gave voice to the most marginalized, and in every work and action, embodied our common humanity.”

The county executive said he was “deeply committed to building a community where everyone is valued, respected, and safe, regardless of whether or not they were born here.”

Metzger said Fr. Alagna’s “ministry was inseparable from his grassroots action, and through that union he touched countless lives.”

She said his “spirit will continue to guide and inspire us to lead with empathy, compassion, and commitment to a higher good.”
