Why the AlphaTauri-Tsunoda Conspiracy is Ridiculous
Ah, another Grand Prix weekend, another conspiracy.
This time it involves Red Bull, AlphaTauri and Yuki Tsunoda.
And yeah, I'll admit, it was a really odd situation.
On lap 41, Yuki Tsunoda decided to stop on the circuit after a pit stop
where his team had put on some fresh hard tyres.
The Japanese driver suspected that a tyre was not fitted properly
and then there was an exchange between himself and the team
Having stopped, it was clear that Tsunoda had taken his seatbelts off
and had to reconnect them before going round again.
Which I'm not sure the FIA will look upon too kindly if the seatbelts weren't done up properly.
Anyway, he gets going again and trundles back into the pits.
The team fumble around in his cockpit,
tightening the seatbelts and also change tyres for a set of scrubbed soft Pirellis.
And then they send him back out.
At this point you're thinking, hey, not too weird.
Bit of a miscommunication.
AlphaTauri have got this all sorted now.
Nope, there was more to the tale.
Yuki exits the pits, only to come over the radio to say something is still wrong with the car.
The team tell him to stop, which then causes a virtual safety car.
This in turn allows for staff and a cheap pit stop
and all chaos ensues on social media around the whole of the sports being fixed.
And not the only time this weekend either,
with people genuinely believing that Perez binned it on purpose,
in qualifying, to stop the Mercedes from improving.
Now I know a lot of people are still scarred by what happened during last year's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
and quite rightly so, it was a farce.
But this whole conspiracy just doesn't add up for me.
There is no way in hell Red Bull would risk being kicked out of the entire championship
for a win in Zandvoort.
I mean, I say getting the win like Max couldn't have won without the VSC.
He would have come out on fresh tyres and passed the Mercs with the pace of that Red Bull
and better straight line speed.
That VSC was not make or break for Verstappen by any chance.
Let me reiterate, if there is one singular crumb of evidence that there was any foul play,
Red Bull would be removed from the championship and given the most almighty fine you can imagine.
Why on earth would they risk jeopardising an easy driver's and constructor's title?
Some people are saying because it was Max's home race.
A win at Zandvoort is worth a lot less than winning the F1 constructors.
Trust me.
Returning back to the issue that Yuki had, he said after the race,
I thought first it was wheelspin happening because it was just the hard tyre and low grip,
but I felt a clear issue.
Something going on with that rear part and engineers confirmed there was an issue
and that's why we stopped.
So yeah, you're entitled to believe what you want,
but really try and accept all the facts before straight up calling Red Bull out for cheating.
I really truly believe there was nothing dodgy at play here.
There you have it.
Why this whole Sonoda Red Bull conspiracy is a load of rubbish.
What do you think?
