What is up MF'ers welcome to the winter wonderland. I am out in the middle of nowhere doing something a
little bit different today. So I woke up this morning drove about two and a half hours to a
nice isolated place in Nebraska in the middle of freaking nowhere and the reason I'm here is
because my buddy told me about this place. You know I fish the streams and stuff here a lot for
trout and other species too but my buddy told me about this secret little hidden lake. Now this
lake supposedly has some giant fish in it. Giant bass, giant trout, all different types of different
species. So obviously I got to go check it out and show you guys what could potentially be in
there. Maybe nothing but it is spring fed and so I don't know if it's gonna have ice on it.
So I brought ice fishing gear, open water gear. It's gonna be a little bit of an adventure today
but regardless why not go check it out somewhere new somewhere I haven't fished before. I'm done
talking let's go fish. Well there it is folks we found it and it's not looking too damn promising
because about half the lake is open water. The part that has ice does not look very thick and
the part that's open water does not look like it's even going to be castable. I'm gonna have to get
down on this steep bank or something but this is probably like the worst possible time to come here
because it looks like skim ice. You know one week of warm weather it'd probably be gone. So I guess
step one is to test the ice and see if it's thick enough for ice fishing here. It doesn't look like
it probably is and then after that kind of work our way around the bank and maybe go fish that
the creek that's coming out behind it. You know if there's big fish in the little pond there's
likely big fish in the little creek back there. So let's go check the ice. Well here we go.
Oh man that looks safe. Yeah don't know about this ice right here. I might try to pop a hole in it
just a little bit out. Oh god it's cracking underneath my feet. Time to get off the ice.
Yep just uh just broke through it right there so apparently the the ice fishing gear is not
going to be necessary but I'm gonna go over there see if we can make some casts into the the lake
from the bank. If that doesn't work we're gonna fish some of the creeks around here regardless.
It's gonna be an interesting time. All right did my best billy goat impression to get down
that hill up there and now we have made it over to the open water. Doesn't look very deep though
so I don't really know about this spot. I don't know how long we're gonna stay here. I guess we're
gonna know pretty quick if we're gonna catch any fish or not but starting with the old standby
inline spinner. This is great for trout, great for bass, good cold water bait. So I figure maybe this
would be a good spot to start. Just got one rod, one reel, spinning rod, a little ultralight. Let's
see if we can make something happen. Oh there's one! Hell yeah! Second cast. Looks like it's a rainbow.
Hell yes! Okay there uh there are fish in here. This is crazy. This is like I don't think they
even stock them in here. I don't know how. I guess they probably stocked some in here if this one's
here but look at that beautiful freaking rainbow. Awesome coloration on that fish. Wow second cast
and I already got one on the spinner and he really got it good as you can see. All right get this
dude back in the water. Hell yes that is so freaking sick. What a damn surprise. Like that was my
second cast in this first spot and I already caught a rainbow trout. Okay let's catch a big one.
Oh my god there was two trout following my spinner all the way in. Okay this pond might be loaded. My
spinner wasn't even turning right and they were like on its tail. Oh there we go another one.
Get my hand a little wet because I know you guys like when I do. I'm gonna release these so I
probably should keep my hand wet. Man these things are like super fat, super healthy, eating really
well. I don't know if they like stock this pond or what but I will absolutely take it. All right buddy
we'll see you later. Gotta freaking love it. Mr. Panther Martin the old inline spinner. So sick.
This is why I grew up fishing was inline spinners like this for all different species.
Still getting it done this many years later man. This seriously really surprised me that I'm
catching fish this easy. As you can see there's ice on like two-thirds of the lake here. Obviously
that doesn't help the activity level of the fish. Trout will bite obviously in cold water so I got
that going for me but I can't believe I've caught them this fast. I've been here like 10 minutes I'm
already like getting bit or caught or follows on every single cast. Definitely made it worth the
half mile hike to get here. There we go. There we go. Definitely not that brute that I just
hooked up with but that is a very airborne trout. I'll take it. See you later buddy. So I just made
a little move over to the other side of the lake. I noticed it's really really shallow on this end
and I also noticed once I was up on the hill I got a better layout. It turns out there's one creek
coming in there, another creek coming in there, and this has been absolutely on fire in the lake
here. But I kind of want to go do some creek fishing so I'm going to kind of make my way up
one of these two creeks. Maybe check out Google Earth which is how I actually found this spot
with direction one of my friends of course. Get on Google Earth and see which one is wider,
which one looks like it's got some more pools to hold some of these trout. But I've been
very very impressed so far. I don't think these fish get very much pressure way back here. I know
a couple people commented on my trout videos a couple months ago saying to come hit this hidden
pond while I was up here and have not been disappointed so far. So we're going to fish
around here a little bit and then head up one of the creeks. Check those out. That is absolutely
tiny. Don't think we're gonna catch any of that one. Well now that I can see that it's not very
deep right there let's walk out on some of this ultra thin ice see what happens. That sounds safe.
That's good right? Oh my god that is crazy. There's baby minnows underneath this little
ice patch right here and like two inches of water. Think this iceberg will float me?
Oh yeah absolutely. There we go. There we go. Another solid little trout.
Hell yeah. Get my hand wet. Broke through the ice. Kind of funny. Just switched up to this
other size spinner. That dude freaking choked it. Another beautiful trout.
Set him free. So I was over there fishing and it was super super silted and went up the creeks.
There's like no water in the creeks. So now I'm back here where I started. I'm gonna make a few
more casts and I think I'm gonna go do some creek fishing just because I want to fish some current.
But uh yeah this this pond has been absolutely money so far. Just switched up to this new
one dollar Walmart spinner. Caught that one. I thought maybe they were getting a little wise to
me. So yeah I'm gonna make a couple more casts. Catch a couple more fish hopefully
and then we'll move on. Holy snow these snowflakes are giant.
All right guys creek fishing time. This this uh stretch right here is a little bit wider and
deeper than I was expecting it to be. Definitely looks different than it did on Google Earth. So
I'm gonna start with this uh inline spinner before I go on to my typical salmon eggs on a little hook
because I can just cast it a lot further. Cover a lot more water and and stay away from these fish
while I cast to them. But I'm gonna try to keep my my noise level down and start catching hopefully.
Okay that deer oh here comes a baby. That deer just jumped across this creek right in front of
my face. That was insane. And I saw its baby was chasing right there and now I can hear the mom
up there waiting for him. Well that was pretty wild. I was about to make a cast right there.
Looked like a good spot until that happened. That right there looks like money. We're gonna
have to be real stealthy to get up there. There we go. Oh that's a good one. Yep come here buddy.
Yes that's a real solid rainbow for this creek. I knew there had to be some in there because I
saw a whole bunch more fish further down the creek and that's pretty much like the stopping
point. Hopefully I'm not scaring them away by talking to them because I want to get back in
there. Maybe catch a real true giant in that spot. This is awesome. I've never fished here
but I could tell right when I got here that's deep. Water's coming in. Should be money.
There we go. Oh man this spot is freaking loaded. Get him back in the water. Another one.
See you later buddy. There must be so many fish right there. This spot is sick. There we go. Yes
that's literally like the fourth time in a row I've got a fish in there.
All right buddy back in. Literally every time I throw in there I just get walloped. Totally makes
sense though. I mean it's like the last area of the creek that they live in and come out of that's
basically blocked off from going any further up. Oh big one. Big one. Oh man. Yes. Yes. I figured
if I threw in there enough times I was going to get a true giant trout. That is a stud for this
river. Seriously a really really nice one for this river. That's probably 18 19 inches long.
So sick. Measurement for reference. All right let's get this dude back into the river.
This is a really really big rare. It's not huge. Probably close to three pounds.
All right I guess he was ready to go. There he is. Off to the fight again. Damn. Hell yes.
By far the biggest trout I've ever caught in Nebraska. That was a stud. Not sure how I'm
gonna top that one. Probably not going to. I figured if I weeded enough of them out of here
I'd finally catch a big one. Oh man. Now I want to see if there's one even bigger than that.
There we go. There we go. Just a little guy but I'll take him today. See bud. There we go.
Oh my god. How many fish are in this spot? Might as well catch them all right? Sweet.
Well guys that was a totally badass day. Like I said I was blown away by how good the pond was
for being two-thirds frozen over and then I went to the creek and I didn't even have to fish anything
besides one spot to catch a whole bunch of fish. They were loaded up in that spot. I think that was
the biggest trout I've ever caught in Nebraska. Good size rainbow. I know it's not a giant giant
rainbow but a three pound rainbow in a little stalker creek is a solid catch in these parts.
It is snowing like crazy. It's already snowed like three inches today since I've been here.
Probably a good idea I start making my usual two and a half to three hour trek back home which is
probably going to be four to five hours with this weather. But awesome day fishing this uh the hidden
lakes, the hidden creeks. I've never fished either of these places before so I was super stoked about
that. Like I always say if you guys like these creek fishing, trout fishing, bank fishing type
videos go subscribe to Melican Fishing and drop a thumbs up on this video. Lets me know you guys
want to see more of these and I will make more of these for you guys the viewer. But I will catch
you guys very soon. I am out of here. Peace.
I'm not sorry. I can't help this love like mine.
I'm not sorry. I can't stop with a love like mine. I can't stop with a love like mine. I can't stop with a love like mine.
