Why is that leaf....WALKING?! 🍃 | Gardening Australia Junior | ABC Kids

Backyard friends! Hey Jenna, can you spot anything unusual in the leaves? No, what am I missing? Look over there on that leaf, can you see anything? It just looks like a leaf. That's actually an Australian leaf insect. They've evolved over time to be able to camouflage into their environment. That's amazing. I know! But what happens if it's spotted? If they are grabbed by a predator like a bird, they can just attach one of their limbs and run for safety. And fun fact, if they're young they can even grow back their missing limb. Wow, that's cool. And they're great for attracting pollinators like birds and butterflies into our gardens. Well Jenna, we were pretty lucky to spot this today. I reckon we should let our leaf insect get back to hiding. Bye leaf insect!
