What A Panic Attack Really Looks Like _ The Channel Mum Anxiety Series
1 Video View·Jul 13, 2023
I'm feeling really, really anxious at the moment.
It's like...
I can't breathe.
I just don't want to be here.
I can't take it.
I'm going to have to put my girls to bed.
I've just got to stop trying to cry.
I'm going to have to tell them that I'm poorly.
It's the night times that are the hardest.
I'm Emma Kenney, the Channel One psychologist in residence.
We know that whilst we all work so hard to keep it together,
the reality is that lots of us struggle with issues such as anxiety.
We wanted to create a resource that can help you should you find yourself struggling.
I want you to know that whilst I'm here to guide you professionally,
I'm also someone who has struggled significantly with anxiety over the years.
In fact, there were some points in my life where I literally struggled to get out of bed
because I felt scared of everything.
Anxiety attacks feel absolutely overwhelming for the individual dealing with them.
They can feel incredibly scary.
You can feel like everything's out of control.
Often you'll have thoughts that are completely overpowering
and leave you feeling completely helpless.
There are also physical symptoms that can accompany an anxiety attack.
Shortness of breath, feeling like you can't breathe,
even a choking sensation
and just a sense of feeling overwhelmed by your physical body.
Know that you are not alone.
Channel One is here to help you.
I'd like you to go over to the Channel One support group
where I'll be along with a team of trained parent helpers.
We're waiting to answer your questions
and we want to give you the support that you need.
Also, look out for the rest of our course videos.
Go up and share them.
It really could help anyone struggling with anxiety.
