9 Weeks Pregnant: What You Need To Know - Channel Mum
3 Video Views·Nov 14, 2022
You are nine weeks pregnant and I know what you're thinking,
there's just one more week until you hit double figures
and you're doing so well,
even though I know you probably don't feel like it
at the moment.
So your little baby now weighs just a fraction of an ounce
and is about an inch long,
which is roughly the same size as a grape,
a large bean or an olive.
Now, have you got a nickname for him or her yet?
Because all of these size comparisons
gave my little boy when I was pregnant
the nickname of Bean and it completely stuck.
At nine weeks, your baby is starting to look
more and more human,
though there's obviously a lot of work to be done
in the coming months just yet.
The embryonic tail is completely gone
and your little baby's eyes are now formed,
though they obviously weren't open for a while just yet.
The loveliest thing about week nine,
or at least I think anyway,
is that your baby's heart is developed enough now
to be heard by ultrasound devices,
but actually being able to hear it like this
is all down to correct positioning.
So we'd recommend waiting for your midwife to do it
or for your scan, which is just a few weeks away.
So we talked about baby, but what about you?
How are you feeling?
And what is being nine weeks pregnant really like?
Well, here at Channel Mum,
we're comparing the textbook versus the truth
with a little bit of help from some expectant mums.
Who knew?
I'm guessing a lot of you are wondering
when those bellies of yours are going to pop,
and it might not be just yet,
but let's take a look at some other mums' pregnant bellies
at nine weeks pregnant.
My belly is definitely getting a little bit too big
for these jeans.
Yeah, I'm gonna have crease marks on my belly
for my jeans.
Now, if I breathe out, you can see this is slant-hounded,
and I know I'm not like the thinnest person in the world,
but you can definitely see that,
that there's something happening there.
This is belly for nine weeks.
I don't think I'm looking overly pregnant at the moment.
I've already got like a bit of a pooch there anyway,
just because that's just me naturally.
So week nine can be a bit of a tough one, can't it?
Because you're in the thick of it now,
the thick of the first trimester, symptoms and emotions,
and I was pretty exhausted by this point,
to the point where I would get home from work,
and I would get my little boy to bed,
and then I would go straight to bed myself,
because it was literally the only way
that I could manage to go up for work the next day.
What else can you expect?
Well, we've got tons of vlogs over on Channel Mum
for every week of pregnancy from other expectant mums
who are at the same stage as you are right now.
So let's take a look at what they say
about being nine weeks pregnant.
Last week, my nausea and my headaches came back really bad.
I have had pregnancy acne massively on my forehead,
I've had it either side of my cheeks,
I've had it around my nose, I've had it on my chin,
and when you are feeling really like unconfident,
and bloated, and fat, and not like yourself, and emotional,
like to have really bad skin on top of that is hard.
A new symptom this week is,
I've been quite like out of breath, like for no reason,
like I've not been running around before this video,
but I've sat down now to talk to you,
and I'm like, like I'm getting a bit out of breath,
and sometimes when I eat a big meal,
even though the baby's like tiny,
I feel like my lungs are like,
like I'm trying to like catch my breath, it's really odd.
I did have still a bit of spotting,
but I'm now in week nine, and that has stopped,
which I'm really, really pleased about.
So it was obviously just a couple of weeks
of like kind of the lining coming away,
and all that TMI sort of stuff,
so I'm feeling much, much better about that.
I don't seem to have that many symptoms,
except my boobs are getting a little bigger,
so yeah, nothing has really changed.
I can't eat large meals,
I can only sort of eat small amounts of food
throughout the day.
Today I feel much better, as you can tell,
because I'm making this video.
I did actually start feeling a little better last night,
I actually managed to paint my nails
for the first time in about three weeks,
and I just had a little pamper session,
and it made me feel a lot better.
That's my little alien.
But yeah, I mean, that's not the cutest thing
I've ever seen in a while, but it's fine, it's mine,
and I am feeling a little bit better this week,
and I hope it continues.
It's really not long until our scan now,
it's like three in a bit weeks,
so it won't be long until you will actually
be watching these videos and you'll know I'm pregnant.
In my last pregnancy, I was obsessed
and craved crunchy ice all the time,
which is an iron deficiency,
so I don't really want that to happen,
and I drove my husband crazy
with all the ice crunching last time,
so I'm taking iron supplements every day
just to help with that.
Been craving enchiladas, still no meat,
I'm still not into meat or anything like that,
so I made a homemade vegetable enchilada,
which was amazing, I had that two nights in a row.
Is that really sad?
I'm not quite sure, I think that's just pregnancy cravings,
but it is really, really good.
My bump is getting bigger, I think,
or my belly is getting bigger,
I feel like I'm just getting fatter.
Now, it's time to get honest,
so here is the channel moment,
the good, the bad, and the ugly
of being nine weeks pregnant.
The good, the most exciting thing, I think,
about being nine weeks pregnant
is that you are very likely to be having
your first midwife appointment in the next week or so,
which is so exciting.
Now, make sure you write down a load of questions
that you've got, and remember that no question
is a stupid question.
I remember leaving my midwife appointment
with my pack and everything,
and feeling like this was finally real,
so enjoy it, it's so special.
The bad, you're starting to wonder
if you're maybe looking a little bit fat,
or like you've just eaten too much pie.
Floaty tops are your friend.
And the ugly, sometimes people or objects
just irrationally annoy you for no reason
other than the fact that you find them really annoying,
and you know what, it's okay, it happens,
you may as well go with it
while you've got a good excuse.
We hope you've enjoyed our textbook
versus the truth of being nine weeks pregnant.
As always, we're all here cheering you on,
and we really do hope that you're doing okay.
