So let's say your boss says, okay, listen,
I need a pie chart based on the total for each airline.
Normally you would have to sum the data
and then make the chart.
Let's see what Copilot can do for us.
So we'll come over here to Copilot.
I'm gonna say create a pie chart that total,
I wanna say that sums the total for each airline.
Create a pie chart that sums the total for each airline.
Keep an eye on column, maybe column K and L
or right around there.
Let's see what we have everybody.
So I'm gonna go over to the right.
First of all, I see the pound size in column M.
So we'll let Copilot know about that.
Now on the chart, if you look closely,
it has the percent.
I'd really rather would have the number there.
So let's ask Copilot to fix those things.
In Copilot, I'm gonna say,
I see the pound signs in column M.
Now, of course, many of us know to make that column bigger,
but a lot of people don't know that.
I still get that question all the time.
How do we get rid of the pound signs?
I just told Copilot,
and let's see if you can make column M bigger.
And it did.
Good.
Now, if you notice the chart,
in my case, it has the percents.
So I'm gonna say, put the totals.
I'll say put the total number for each airline on the chart.
Instead of the percent.
Now, there's an Excel technique on how to do that,
but we're just asking Copilot for it.
Watch the chart.
It just put the actual numbers instead of the percent.
Very, very good.
Okay?
So think about what we just did.
We asked it to make a chart from that data.
First, it did give us the sums over here,
and then it made a nice chart,
and then it made some adjustments using Copilot.
That's not bad.
I can deal with that.
I'll put the word done here.
Now, when you have a big list of data, everybody,
you can ask Copilot to summarize it in many ways.
By the way, let me show you another way to use Copilot.
See if this works for you.
Of course, we have the Copilot window on the right.
Now, you should be able to right-click on your data.
If I right-click,
then you have the Copilot suggestions.
It says show me interesting insights,
or if the cell has a formula,
it says explain this formula.
You can have a suggest a formula column,
suggest conditional formatting,
summarize using pivot tables or charts.
Now, if you're not able to right-click on your data,
then you can just type in those prompts
over here on the right.
By the way, if you look at the window on the right,
scroll down to the bottom of what Copilot gives you,
it'll give you sometimes some different suggestions there.
But I just right-clicked on the data
and I said Copilot suggestions.
Let's see what it means by interesting insights, okay?
Or you can ask for an executive summary of the data.
I've seen that one work before.
Oh, oh, this is important.
They put that prompt over here on the right
where my mouse is,
but we still have to send it.
You know, I could be waiting there for a couple minutes.
Oh, I didn't send it yet.
So I'll put in the word, I'll put in the send icon.
That was important.
Show me interesting insights.
Or you can say, show me an executive summary of the data.
That works with a large amount of data.
Or you can ask for a pivot table.
Just describe how you want the data to be summarized.
If you ever feel it's taking too long,
you can always click on the stop icon where my mouse is,
but typically I'm going to let it run.
Meanwhile, you can go to a different window
or do something else while that's doing it.
You don't have to sit there watching it.
Copilot also works in Word and PowerPoint and Outlook.
And it's been improved in those apps as well.
So I'm just going to scroll down the Copilot window.
Oh, it says it's going to make,
I think it's going to make an insights dashboard
on a separate sheet.
That's fine.
Do your thing.
Meanwhile, I'll go have a couple of calls for you
or check my email.
I would like this one to complete,
so I'm going to let it run for another minute or so.
And we have a few more examples after this one.
Yes, Chris, we'll do a pivot table.
It might give us a pivot table with the interesting insights,
but I will specifically ask for a pivot table
when this one's done.
I'm going to give it another 30 seconds.
Obviously in real life, I would let that,
wow, look at what it just gave us.
I almost gave up on it.
I have the travel and sales insights, department budget,
country expenses, expense insights.
Wow.
That was pretty significant.
It looks pretty good.
All right.
So now let's see if it actually put the formulas in there.
And it did.
It actually has all the formulas in there.
So then if data changes, then this will also change.
Now, okay, that was a couple of minutes, right?
There's no way I could have done that myself that quickly.
And I know how to do that,
but I couldn't have done it that quickly.
And this looks pretty good to me.
I can definitely work with that.
So that's what it gave us
when we did the interesting insights.
