What is a busy news afternoon here,
breaking just moments ago, President Trump announcing
a massive Russian diesel shipment,
saying it will drive down fuel prices here at home.
U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Michael Waltz is now joining us.
Great that we have you here,
as this news is breaking, Ambassador.
Thank you for being here in New York City.
President Trump said he just concluded
a conversation with Vladimir Putin,
this breaking just now. It was agreed
that Russia will immediately supply over 300,000 tons of diesel
to America and the global marketplace it's a good idea
a deal with Russia well this we have first
Senator we have to make a distinction there's
a distinction between what's happening in the
Straits of Hormuz which is you know oil coming out
that's now coming out from our Gulf partners
almost a pre-war level not coming uh from Iran due
to our blockade different than refining
capacity we've seen Europe close down all
of their refineries over the years heck even California
just shut down two refineries.
And of course, the Ukrainians have been attacking Russian
refineries as part of the war.
The president has been clear in asking the Ukrainians to stop
and asking, you know,
from the perspective of the global economy suffering, it's diesel
that powers our tractors, our trucks, our airplanes around the world.
And this is an effort,
at least for the next few months,
to get more diesel out on the world market,
he is still absolutely determined to drive this war to an end.
So, look, for those that will, I think, kind of throw their hands up,
the president, his envoys,
all of us have been talking to Ukrainians and Russians
about stopping attacks on grain, on fertilizer, on diesel,
and other commodities that are powering
the world economy as part of this war.
OK, so diesel prices, we know this has been a major problem
for so much business and commerce here in the United States.
It's six dollars and 50 cents. Last I look, a gallon.
President Trump says that Russia will immediately supply
another 500,000 tons during the month of November,
a million tons immediately thereafter.
I mean, this is a massive amount.
How much do you think this could actually bring down prices?
And will do you believe diesel prices
could return to pre-Iran war levels?
Well, look, I'll leave it
to the energy experts like Secretary Chris Wright in terms of how
quickly that will drive prices down, but it will drive prices down.
And that's not just the United
States. I mean, we have famines in East Africa.
We have people suffering around the world,
both from the grain that's not coming out of Ukraine
and Russia now, the fertilizer that's
not coming out, and now the diesel that's not coming out.
That's why we're trying to
drive at least some temporary ceasefires
and attacks on those infrastructure on each other's
infrastructure. But again,
it's all the more reason that President Trump has said from day one,
the war needs to end. Got it.
Can I get an update from you on the U.S. sanctions? Here's
the Wall Street Journal headline
and threatening to dismantle the International Criminal Court.
We know Marco Rubio spoke to this,
but what is the message that you're sending to the criminal
court here with this move?
The United States, this president, our secretary of state will always
defend American sovereignty.
And what I don't think people fully understand is the United States
never signed up to the treaty.
It's called the Rome Statute that makes us that makes countries
under the authority of the International Criminal Court.
So we have right now this court
investigating American soldiers from actions 20 years ago
in Afghanistan. You know, I was a
veteran. Anytime we have horrific civilian casualties,
it's an accident. But the last
thing that we want that I think the American people
or this president should stand for
are international globalist courts
with no authority over the United States, with no
jurisdiction over the United States,
who knows what their evidentiary standards are or who their
prosecutors, by the way, I'll note Jack Smith
was one of their prosecutors years ago, or even how
they appoint their judges. We have a judicial system.
We have a uniform code of military.
justice. Is the goal to dismantle the criminal court?
Well, look, I think the goal is to protect
American sovereignty. What they end up doing
to other countries is on them that signed up to that
treaty. But we're going to defend American soldiers,
American citizens. We could see a
situation where they even go after American leaders
as they're doing other leaders around
the world. We never signed up for it.
Before you go, what is the update with Iran? And is Iran
openly defying President Trump's demands
to abandon all their nuclear ambitions?
There is no country in the world that has
to enrich to weapons grade that isn't pursuing
a nuclear weapon that supposedly just wants civilian power.
Number one. Number two,
there's no country in the world
that buries it under hundreds of feet of solid granite.
And number three, look, there are protocols
for countries like the United Arab Emirates that do
have civilian nuclear power
and they subscribe to those inspections, those protocols Iran is doing
none of that. Meanwhile, Scott Bessent has his foot
on the neck of the Iranian economy, no oil going
out, currency tanking, foreign currency reserves gone. Time
is on the president's side, they have
already tried under the UN General Assembly to come back
and offer a deal but it was a garbage
deal and president, uh, president Trump doesn't take bad deals, he
is going to end this regime's
pursuit of a nuclear weapon, got it, thank you
for being here on the breaking news and more ambassador
It's good to have you here, thank you, all right
