Top 3 Winter Running Shoes 2026/27 - Waterproof Picks for Every Budget

In this video we're going to be talking about winter running shoes and you might be going on for it, it's only just autumn but we've had some good releases come out and I want to highlight three shoes and I'm actually going to add another one that I think if you're looking for a sort of waterproof winterized running shoe you want to keep an eye on because they might get discounted as we get closer towards winter. Thanks a lot. Okay, let's get into the shoes, yeah? So my first pick is these, the Adidas Hyperboost GTX. It's a big old boy, this one. But what I like about this shoe, see this stripe along here? This is luminous. Is it luminous? No, reflective. This bit here, reflective tape. And look at the bottom. We've got some nice sort of mini lugs on there. And actually, let's get into the specs, shall we? So the Adidas Hyperboost GTX is quite expensive, 170 pounds. We've got the new Boost Plus foam in here. Gore-Tex upper on here, so it's nice and weatherproof. It's waterproof, windproof and just about everything else proof We've got a Conti rubber outsole with those mini lugs that I just showed you. Stack height I think are coming in at 40mm. I'm not seeing anything confirmed and I also think it's a 6mm drop. The shoe's weighing in at 313 grams in my UK 10 and it fits true to size. Let's take a closer look. So there's our lugs which hold on lovely. Here's our weatherized upper. We've got three stripes on here. The worst laces on any shoe i've had and that is because they keep undoing themselves this amount of foam so it's nice and comfy nice and stable i don't think it looks too bad in this gray color and like i said we've got that reflective element on it which is one of the big things i like about the shoe okay so in terms of performance this performs exactly what you'd expect from a hyperboost shoe this is on the heavy side there's no running away from that and the upper is on the warm side okay so you don't want to be wearing this in the sort of slightly warmer autumn months this is perfect for when it's actually freezing or you're running like slightly like i know road to trail that kind of thing this is a very good sort of daily trainer to wear in those winter months those cold wet horrible months that we get over here in the uk where you're you're out there training in the dark and something like with a reflective strip on it nice waterproof upper it's going to work a treat when you're out there doing your six or seven miles in the evening and it's pissing down all right this is a very good shoe for that i like the hyper boost midsole on here and i've said it on all hyper boost videos that i've done the new versions of these shoes i really like this midsole it's nice and stable it's nice and responsive and despite it being on the heavy side i really think it works with the shoes now the hyper boost edge the upper was terrible but this is more like the run uh version which we've also reviewed on this channel and if you can get over the laces keep undoing themselves it's actually a really nice place to be so that's my first shoe now my second shoes for anybody who's marathon training over the winter i've got a bit old school here This is the Saucony Triumph GTX. This is going to cost you £154. We've got a stack height of 40 in the heel down to 30, so that's a 10mm drop. We've got the new PWRRUN+ midsole, which is really nice. Gore-Tex upper on this thing. This also comes in a wide option, I believe. 283 grams, which is a lot lighter than the Adidas. It's a UK 9.5, and it fits true to size. And we've got that XT900 outsole. Right, let's take a closer look at these. We've got Gore-Tex written on there, and we've got a Gore-Tex label on there. Lacing, again, is a bit hit and miss. but it's better than the adidas loads of foam in here this is all about comfort like i said we've got the PWRRUN+ midsole in here so this is the new midsole compound that's in all the latest Saucony shoes it's really nice nice and responsive a lot lighter feeling than the previous stuff that we used to get in the triumph it's extremely wide and so extremely stable there's your outsole and again whilst the upper is thick and warm and all that sort of stuff you're running in the sort of temperatures that we've got like now in the winter months this thing's going to be brilliant this is a long run cruising machine this is as i said going to suit anybody who's marathon half marathon training and you're training in horrible conditions if you live in scotland for example this would be perfect for if you're marathon training it's just a long slow cruising machine but you're getting the benefit of the gore-tex upper which is that sort of water repellent windproof repellent whatever they call it repellent upper it's stable it's comfortable i just don't think what else i need to tell you really other than the fact this is just a very good long run shoe that's weatherized so if you are winter marathon training or half marathon training it's be worth slotting in for those days when you look at the weather forecast and it says basically it's going to be pissing down for the next four hours and you've got to go out and get 16 miles by this okay next shoe this is a weird looking nova blast now firstly let me know in the comments what you think about the look of this shoe i can't really work out what's happened here did they all go into a meeting and go let's make a shoe and make it look really stupid because i just don't get what the hell why would you do such a crazy thing with this shoe now to be fair it does stand out but they've gone a bit nuts haven't they anyway let me know in the comments what you think about the look of the shoe so Novablast 6 TR GTX whatever it's called actually it's called the Novablast 6 GTX weighs 309 grams 150 pounds we've got FlyteFoam Blast Max and FlyteFoam Turbo trampoline pod up the front show that in just a sec Gore-Tex upper uh ASICSGRIP outsole but we've also got the AHAR low in here and i'll show you that in bits uh we've got no official stat kites in here so i'm guessing it's around the 40 odd millimeters like the Novablast uh 6 this is a UK nine and a half and it fits true to size now let's take a closer look at this shoe so here's your trampoline pod up the front you can't miss it so this is your FlyteFoam Turbo up here okay like i said we've got ASICSGRIP on here and AHAR low so in the low uh wear areas we've got the AHAR low and in the high wear areas we've got the ASICSGRIP Gore-Tex upper like i said and with all of these shoes it's a warm upper so again this is not going to work in the current conditions we've got here in the UK this is a winter training shoe it's nice and stable again nice wide basis despite the FlyteFoam Blast Max which is a nice soft compound and extremely comfortable actually like with the Novablast loads of foam in here it's super comfortable lockdown's good laces are good on this shoe bit of a toe guard up the front you can collect stones with the outsole and yeah overall the shoe just works really well in terms of that winterized shoe i really like the ride on this nova blast 6 gtx to be fair is it my favorite out of them well yeah quite possibly i'll come on to that when we conclude but yeah this is a very good winterized shoe so the the looks of it i think i'm a bit on the fence but if you take that away you're going to get a very good shoe here like i said i think all of these shoes are going to work for somebody now the final shoe i'm going to throw in is a shoe that i've already made a video on and it's over here i've got to go and get it a few months ago i made a video on these the a6 blaze blast and i said in that video you don't need to buy this shoe right now you need to wait until the winter months to get this and i stand by that yeah now if you didn't know what this is this is a road to trail shoe from asics but it's not weatherized it doesn't have gore tex on which i think actually is not a bad thing this is going to cost you as little as 110 pounds at the moment it features the flytefoam blast max in here asics grip out so you've got an eva sock liner um um barely there lugs 280 grams which is good fits true to size nine and a half all that sort of stuff decent laces on here by the way but yeah i think if you're somebody who doesn't like a gore-tex upper which i totally understand again they're quite warm i think this is a good shout for a sort of um yeah winterized shoe if you're getting somebody who's like i may be doing parkrun things like that or you're doing some of those slightly longer runs which are road to trail or the the roads that you're on are a bit slippery a bit horrible then this outsole is not like overbearing or anything like that but it will hang on to the the pavements and the tarmac that you're running on without say feeling like a trail shoe what i really like about this shoe is that it feels nice and light on foot it actually feels lighter than the 280 something grams it's just a really good daily trainer but as i said i think it's more suited for those winter months when the sidewalks or wherever you call them the paths a little bit sketchy in places this is a very good shoe so this is a non-gtx non-gortex shoe but i think it's worth including this video because i do think it's a very good shoe to stick in over those winter months for a daily trainer okay so which one is my favorite well i think i'm going to go with the adidas i really like the hyper boost in here but i say i like the i like the fact that it's reflective um the stuff that i'm running on the the outsole is not overwhelming and that kind of thing yeah i prefer this lacing i think all of these shoes but i think uh despite the price which you can get reduced i said if you're a 40 runs running club member at sportshoes.com brings the price down this is going to be a good shoe to have in those winter months for somebody like me who like comes home and then does another run in the evening when it's dark and that sort stuff this is a shoe that i can slip on i can go out get that four to six miles whatever it is down the roads i've got around down the high street it's going to be wet it's going to be horrible i'm not going to really know where i'm going and then you know whatever it's going to be peeing down the rain this is a good shoe that's going to help me out during those winter training months for my next marathon now that's not to say like i said these are all very good shoes i say the triumph's a great shout if you're going to be winter marathon training as well but for me i think the the happy medium despite the weight is this
