Top 10 BEST Big 3s in NBA History: Durant, LeBron, Curry & More
1 Video View·Sep 21, 2026
The upcoming NBA season is bound to have a new outlook,
with a handful of teams coming back to full strength
and looking to dethrone the Milwaukee Bucks.
There's going to be a plethora of star trios
that will shine big all year long.
So let's take a look at the top 10 best big threes
in the NBA 2022.
Number 10, Gobert Donovan Conley.
For NBA teams vying to hoist
the prestigious Larry O'Brien Trophy,
the Big Three model of building around three elite players
has become a staple.
Luckily for fans of the Utah Jazz,
their squad boasts one of the best.
Mike Conley, Donovan Mitchell, and Rudy Gobert
have guided this Jazz team
to the top of the Western Conference,
and they've each played an integral part
in the team's success.
The Utah Jazz's threesome
will be entering their third season together.
Mitchell has been the Jazz's leading scorer
since his rookie season
and has grown in different respects every year.
He has maintained his production from previous seasons
while making some significant tweaks to his game
to better fit with the overall style
of the play of the Jazz.
On the other hand,
Conley is more of a born floor general than Mitchell,
as well as more selective
about the shots that he attempts off the dribble,
and Gobert is at his best on offense
alongside a high IQ pick and roll passer
who can vary his gears going downhill.
The chemistry they've developed
through learning each other's tendencies is invaluable.
Number nine, DeRozan, Levine, Vucevic.
The Bulls will start next season
with three All-Star players in their prime,
Zach Levine, Nikola Vucevic
from the trade with Orlando in March,
and Demar DeRozan, the four-time All-Star
and two-time All-NBA player
who comes to the Bulls via free agency
in a sign-and-trade maneuver.
DeRozan, who turned 32 earlier this month,
is one of the game's elite scorers,
having averaged more than 20 points a game
in his last eight seasons.
He joins Levine as a player
who has scored at least 50 points in an NBA game,
while Vucevic has scored more than 40 points several times.
DeRozan also gives the Bulls an alternative
with his mid-range game
that's regarded to be among the best in the NBA,
and also being a player like Levine
who's adept at taking big closing game shots.
With the big three trio,
the Bulls are capable of being one
of the highest-scoring teams in the NBA
to match any in an era when scoring is emphasized.
Number eight, Lowry, Butler, Adebayo.
The Miami Heat have undergone a total roster revamp
and made several significant additions
in the first week of free agency.
The most significant of these
is the addition of veteran point guard
and NBA champion Kyle Lowry,
who compliments franchise players Jimmy Butler
and Bam Adebayo well.
With their defensive toughness
and multifaceted scoring strategy,
the three of them have built a dominant two-way play.
There's little doubt that this combination
will return the Heat to the elite tier
of the Eastern Conference's top-heavy division
and make them title contenders once more.
The Heat are ready for a huge turnaround in 2022,
headed by seasoned All-Stars, Butler, Lowry,
and Bam Adebayo after a disappointing
first-round exit in 21.
Number seven, Embiid, Simmons, and Harris.
Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Tobias Harris
guided the 76ers to the number one seed
in the Eastern Conference in the 2021 season.
In the MVP voting, Embiid finished
as the runner-up.
In the voting for Defensive Player of the Year,
Simmons finished second.
Harris should have been selected for the All-Star game,
but he was not.
When he's healthy, Embiid is one of the NBA's
most dominant players on both ends.
On defense, Simmons is among the best of the best,
while on offense, he drives the offense
with playmaking and transition assaults.
Harris has a three-level scoring punch
and is steadily improving as a passer.
The Sixers are hoping that the trio of Embiid,
Simmons, and Harris can improve
on their dreadful postseason performance last year.
Number six, Nikola, Jamal, Porter Jr.
The Denver Nuggets are poised for another historic season
in the upcoming 21-22 NBA season
following a dismal finish last season.
The aces to the Nuggets' success are Nikola Jokic,
Michael Porter Jr., and Jamal Murray.
Last season, the 26-year-old Serbian won
his first-ever MVP award after a resounding victory.
After receiving 971 votes,
Jokic was named the unanimous MVP.
MPJ, on the other hand, was far better
than expected this season,
establishing himself as one of the league's
most promising rising stars.
Jamal Murray was the darling
of last year's playoff bubble in Orlando
and was the top perimeter scorer in Denver.
Denver's young core is extremely well-balanced.
Jokic is only 26, while Porter and Murray
are only 23 and 24, respectively.
If this trio stays together,
the squad's ceiling is as high as they want it to be.
Number five, Steven, Draymond, Thompson.
The classic Big Three of the Golden State Warriors
has been quite good over the years
and should be back on the court this year.
Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and Steph Curry
have a combined record of 365-113 in games played together,
the highest winning percentage of any three in NBA history
with at least 400 games played.
Curry will aim to resume right where he left off
at the start of this coming season
after a record-setting season
where he overachieved with a young, inexperienced group,
pulled them within one basket
of actually making the playoffs.
Thompson's gonna return to action fully healthy
and ready to play after spending the last two seasons
resting and recuperating.
And Draymond Green, who won his second gold medal
at the Tokyo Olympics,
will also try to continue his winning streak.
The Warriors' seasoned superstar trio
will be ready to lead them back to the glorious future
while attempting to reestablish their supremacy in the NBA
thanks to their championship experience,
scoring, playmaking, rebounding, and defensive brilliance.
Number four, Antetokounmpo, Middleton, Holliday.
The defense of Milwaukee's Big Three
is unrivaled in the NBA.
You're gonna be surprised what happened
last season in the playoffs,
Antetokounmpo, Holliday, and Middleton
combined for 565 minutes
and a net rating of plus 12.3,
mostly due to their ability to hold opponents
to a meager 97.9 points per 100 possessions.
That is unbelievable,
especially considering they were playing teams
with talents like Kevin Durant, Dre Young,
and Chris Paul in the playoffs.
The Bucks' Big Three will aim to run it back
and defend their title in this coming season
as they enter the season as NBA champs.
They're gonna face a lot of opposition,
but given what they've accomplished this past season,
they've demonstrated that no task
is too great for them to conquer
with their fantastic team camaraderie.
Number three, Paul, Booker, Aiton.
So before last season,
Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and DeAndre Aiton
were not considered one of the NBA's greatest Big Threes.
Then, in his first season with the Suns,
Paul continued to defy his age.
Booker became a two-time All-Star,
and Aiton showed up in the playoffs
as they made a surprise run to the NBA Finals,
their first since 1993.
Paul, Devin, and Aiton are a good match together,
and Phoenix's front management
did a wonderful job surrounding them
with complimentary wing players last season,
which helped the team beat the Lakers, Nuggets,
and Clippers on their way to the NBA Finals.
Number two, Durant, Harden, Irving.
The Brooklyn Nets are gonna be back
and better than ever next season
with their powerhouse superstar trio
of Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving
slated to return fully healthy
after a sad finish to the 21 NBA playoffs
where they played understaffed.
There's surely gonna be an unstoppable force
that will once again power their way
to the top of the Eastern Conference.
This time around, they've got a whole off-season
to work together and establish stronger team chemistry.
In the first round of the 21 playoffs,
they combined to average 85.2 points per game
against the Celtics the most by any trio
in a single playoff series in league history.
Not only do they have three of the top scorers
in the world on their roster,
but Joe Harris and the freshly acquired Patty Mills
are one of the best catch-and-shoot duos in the league.
And number one, LeBron, Anthony, and Westbrook.
The Lakers have had a busy start to their off-season
with all-star point guard and former league MVP
Russell Westbrook being their most notable addition.
On preseason Instagram photos,
this new glam trio looks good,
but with LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook,
are they gonna look good on the court?
LA's new superstar trio will seek to disprove the critics
while restoring the Lakers to title contention
in the hopes of capturing their 18th championship,
which would also be the most by a franchise in NBA history.
The Lakers, led by James
and bolstered by the length, athleticism,
and championship experience
of these three future Hall of Famers
are unquestionably capable
of navigating the Western Conference
and delivering another title back to LA.
So what do you make of these amazing trios?
Let us know which fact about these three
surprised you the most in the comments below.
Hey, we hope you enjoyed watching this
as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you.
We'll see you next time.
Goodbye.
