Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe preseason action kicks off with standout performances from LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards leading the Timberwolves to a win over the Bucks. Luka Doncic dominated for the Mavericks, while Bronny James showed flashes of potential for the Lakers. The slate also featured a dominant Jalen Brown, a heated altercation between John Collins and Dillon Brooks, and a game-winning play by rookie Ibuka Okori.
The season hasn't even started yet and we already got this.
The New Look Wolves are electric.
While Luka and JB put on a show for their fans.
But we got a start in Milwaukee where LaMelo Ball took a half-court shot just 2 seconds into the game.
That was exciting to see no matter if it didn't count.
Debuting his new threads, Melo got busy right off the bat.
Somehow these two seem like they've played together for years.
It's gonna be one hell of a ride in Minnesota this season.
And speaking of that, LaMelo took Jericho Sims for a little spin.
In less than 17 minutes of action, Ball got 11 points and 3 assists on 50% shooting from the field.
He showed Wolves fans exactly what they needed to see from him.
And we can say the same thing about Jonathan Kuminga as well.
Kuminga brings the house down on a thunderous jam in transition.
Meanwhile, the Ant-Man did all the work himself starting on the defensive end.
Edwards puts his money where his mouth is in the first game of the preseason.
Swatting away Jaime's shot and then converting the end one.
Amazing.
And look at him screaming for LaMelo up top which results in an easy bucket.
He led his team with 14 points and a couple of dimes in the comfortable win over the Bucks.
Next, we go to Cali where Luka Doncic was moving different in the pre-game warm-ups
while the newest Lakers were looking pretty good at the start.
Quinton Grimes took the rookie Darius Aikov to school with that spin move.
He had a great opening but Luka on the other hand was a bit rusty from downtown.
Doncic didn't score until halfway through the first period shooting 0 for 3 from beyond the arc.
But once he saw his first shot go in, there was no stopping him.
The last year's scoring leader did what he does best racking up 21 points and 3 assists
in a hurry to put the game out of reach for Sacramento in the first half already.
That was nice but it was nothing compared to this.
Quinton Grimes explodes along the baseline for the one-handed throwdown.
He really stood out on day one scoring 16 points on 71% efficiency.
We didn't get to see Walker Kessler, Austin Reeves or Colin Sexton on the court who were
still day-to-day with minor injuries but instead we got the full Bronny experience.
LeBron James Jr. weaves through the defense before dropping the pin for a do
and then the spinoff into a wide open 3 up top.
Splash! He also came up with a classic hound dog play, staying glued to his opponent,
stripping him of the ball and then sacrificing his body to secure the steal.
His 4 and a half minutes per game this season will definitely be a must watch.
And just 4 and a half minutes into the game, the first headache came for the Sixers.
Mike Brown couldn't say enough about this guy in his pre-game presser.
It was a non-contact stepping back as he tried to push forward.
Damn, my guy, former Nick, Ariel Huckporty might have ended the season before it started right
there, grabbing the Achilles immediately after the fall. What a bummer.
So then, Jalen Brown made sure to ease up the pain for Phillick fans with his play.
JB bursted out of the gate scoring 13 of his 22 points in the first quarter,
looking stronger than ever. With Maxey, Embita and LeBron all out for this one,
Brown kept producing highlights in the second period as well.
You could tell he had a lot of fun showing off his skills in his home debut.
And watching VJ Edgecumbe gliding through the air is always exciting.
Come on, that balance and that hang time to finish up the end one are just ridiculous.
VJ added 12 points and 7 assists in the dominant win over my Knicks.
We'll see them again on opening night when it actually matters.
For Dylan Brooks and John Collins, however, every possession is worth fighting for.
Pay close attention to both guys right here.
Collins was sick and tired of Brooks' chippiness so he straight up grabbed him by the throat.
Damn, we're 3 days into the preseason and things are already getting out of hand.
Throughout the first half, while the main guys were on the floor, the Suns were in control,
leading by 18 points with Booker, Green and Brooks combining for 35 on a solid 55% shooting.
But the Pistons bench came in surging for a comeback in the second half
and the game ultimately came down to this.
The 19-year-old rookie from Nigeria, Ibuka Okori,
wins the game for the Pistons with the double pump layup.
He must have been really pumped up after this one.
And these guys made Grizzlies fans lose their minds when…
Kim Boozer and Gigi Jackson put on a dunk show on the road,
storming past the Hawks with 25 points combined on 62% efficiency.
That's a great way to get the rebuild up and running.
And speaking of that, D'Angelo Russell is one of the guys that didn't make the roster
and he was forced to sign with the Shanghai Sharks just a week ago.
I detailed his rapid downfall in this video right here,
so check it out and talk to you in the next one.
Peace out.
