Video Summary
AI GeneratedAusar Thompson is emerging as a potential star for the Detroit Pistons after a dominant preseason. His ability to create his own shot and play in a \"flow state\" provides the team with critical bench depth and scoring versatility, putting pressure on coach JB Bickerstaff to integrate the 19-year-old into the regular-season rotation.
The Detroit Pistons have found their secret weapon,
and you can go as far as saying their
next star as Ausar Thompson, drafted just this past year,
has completely turned heads of
not only the Detroit Pistons, not only the fanbase,
but the national media, as this young
star in the making showed his brilliance and pure dominance.
And yes, just the preseason, but looking farther into Ausar Thompson,
this truly unlocks the bench
of the Detroit Pistons putting pressure
on JB Bickerstaff we're gonna break down everything
you need to know on Ausar Thompson what it means
for this team moving forward and so much more
in this episode you're not gonna want to miss it
and yes I know everyone in the comments are going
to say Mark it's just the preseason
but Ausar Thompson has shown this at every single level and
finishes off this preseason as one
of the most exciting cases coming out from across the NBA
with Ausar Thompson we can see
in 53 preseason minutes 44 points 11 points per game in 13 minutes per
game this is a kid that was in flow state someone that scores at will
and only 19 years old he's
making a case and truly pushing with JB Bickerstaff
to earn legitimate rotation minutes heading into
the regular season and it doesn't just stop there
no of course versus the Raptors last night I
understand Ausar Thompson was incredible it
was a Raptors team that wrestled a lot of their star
players but coming
into the game we know two things about Ausar coming out of college this
is a guy that can score at will
and a guy that's genuinely one of the best players in this draft
class at creating his own shot this is something
that adds a lot of depth through the Detroit
Pistons bench something that they struggled with last year
when we've seen Cade Cunningham off the
floor in the playoffs, Ausar's going to fill
in if it's not at the start of the season this could
stretch a little farther but this is a kid that's making a case
and looking over the stretch of
three games that he played seven points finishing off
the Phoenix Suns with a game winner not
subbing in until the fourth October 10th against Washington 14 points
and six assists 14 points
in nine minutes four for four shooting Ausar Kauri
last night just continue the brilliance of a young
kid that's 19 years old
and truly has made a case that JB Bickerstaff do get him into the
rotation. Now, before we get too far into that,
I do want to give a huge shout out to the sponsor
of the video today, which is Kalshi.
On Kalshi, you're trading directly against other users and
not the house like the traditional sports book.
You're buying yes or no contracts on the outcomes
across sports, politics, and even the weather.
For example, you can see trading yes on the Detroit
Pistons winning 55 plus games $55 net you $157
and 26 cents and if you wanted to trade on something
that's a little more sooner you can trade
on other things including the season opener which is coming
up very soon on Tuesday versus the Boston Celtics $25
with the Pistons trading yes that they would
win get you $49 and 24 cents again you can trade
on politics the weather but the best thing with
Kalshi right now is if you're interested
in trying make sure to use the link in the description or
the pin comments and when you trade 25
with code digest nba that's on your screen right there
new users get 55 instantly added to your account
so you can trade 25 get your 55 and put that on
the pistons winning the championship Kalshi's
doing incredible things and again a huge shout
out them if you want to use it make sure to use
the link in the description or pin comment use
code digest NBA trade $25 and get free $55 added
to your account instantly and let's just continue
trading on with Kauri now looking
at Boo Kauri we've seen a lot of people praising the media
but even your Jack a young group
that last group coming in and playing Pistons basketball
after sitting around for quite some time
was really impressive now a lot of the minutes that
Boo Kauri has got over the preseason was coming
in in the fourth quarter coming in and not looking like
he skipped a beat looking like a guy that came out
as a starter creating his own scoring chances
reaching the foul line and made the most
of late opportunity now again looking at him coming out
of college a young man that continued to grow with time
but someone that created almost
all his own shots with nearly none
of them coming assisted it's someone that's truly going to add
that six-man candidate onto this bench
and someone that again i think can make the push
to end up getting into the starting lineup nowhere near soon,
but in the future of what he can grow into.
There's a really fun game to wrap up the preseason.
Came out feeling better about a few of the 2A candidates,
and also really nice to see the complete level to wire.
a Kauri could be a ton of fun.
Now, of course, everyone's praising him.
It's going from the coaching staff again,
and diving into, of course,
how people within this organization are speaking on him.
JB Bickerstaff have said some of the small things
in his game are already very veteran like one of his
abilities to finish his ability
to do the small thing create leverage typical takes young guys
years to figure out and he already has it he's an elite playmaker
and passer and he's tougher than
the size would suggest on the defensive end
which works well this is a lot of praise for a young kid
coming through and it's Star Thompson summed it up
in a very few words that's a little Kyrie Irving
and listen we've seen the trade reports
of the Pistons being linked to Kyrie Irving we have Kyrie
Irving at home there's no reason to go out
and get him we have him in the making this is a kid
that again when looking at the Pistons last preseason there
was a lot of struggles when it
came to Cade Cunningham coming off the floor we've seen
a lot of times where they struggled to get
shot creations Star Thompson is building into his own
when it comes to that matter but creating
advantage off the dribble getting defenders moving before
the finish opening passing windows this is
a guy that driving and kicking is one
of his strongest suits strongest suit of course is
scoring and getting to that basket is going
to open up more opportunities for a very good bench
that added shooters Kevin Huerter came back
of course you still picked up Isaiah Joe you have
Tobias Harris there's now shooters around this team
and having a downhill force is someone that's
going to be good now there's a test
and it's not going to be about how he gets into this lineup and
is dominant right away he needs to make
the opportunity he needs to pass consistently he
needs to hold up defensively he needs to finish against NBA size
but the bench scoring and looking
at the team the paint pressure finding
the open shooter it's something that this kid is going to
continue developing and working on looking like a pro already
and the game again coming into that
game he was efficient but last night 14 points four
for four one assist one steal in 19 minutes
this was coming off the backs
of his first game where he didn't play until the final 10 minutes
in the fourth quarter immediately hit a three he hit
the game winner at Stanford almost none of his
shots let alone threes were assisted he's a master
at getting to the rim and creating his own shot
also it's just stone cold nothing really phases
him Abu Kakora just plays in flow state and again
something this team truly needs off the bench
and that's not hating on our bench because we have a
very good bench genuinely one of the deepest teams
in the NBA it's not going to be a clear path you
have a lot of guys ahead of him Cade Cunningham
a top player in the NBA is of course going to be
the starter moving forward you have Jenkins
that was this young growing player that joined this
organization last year made a case for himself well
not joining last year but making a case for
himself last year Abu Kakora is going to fight
but I genuinely wouldn't be shocked if we've seen
Jenkins and Kakora some minutes together
with this team again having the shooting on the bench of
hopefully Kevin Huerter hitting
his shots you still have Isaiah Joe Ron Holland not a shooter but
still a good downhill wing and great defender Javante Green
and Torian Prince good shooters
this is a team that's truly building something special
and fans I want to know your thoughts
and I already can see the comments Mark it's just
the preseason this is a kid that has a lot to grow
I completely agree but again this is someone that went 17th overall
and genuinely outplayed
multiple guys when it comes to this preseason let me know
your thoughts on Ibuka does he get a spot
within this rotation is he going to make it impossible
for J.B. Bickerstaff to not play him
I want to hear all your thoughts around Detroit basketball down
in the comments can't wait for
the season to start take care Pistons fans go
Detroit basketball and I'll see you in the next one
