AI GeneratedThe Houston Rockets secured a high-intensity victory over the Golden State Warriors, guaranteeing home-court advantage for the first round of the playoffs. Currently the second seed in the Western Conference, the Rockets demonstrated significant mental and physical toughness, effectively neutralizing Steph Curry and maintaining momentum heading into the postseason.
This was insane to watch if you were a Rockets fan.
The intensity was high, elbows were thrown,
clamps were laid down, and at the end of the day,
the Houston Rockets come out on top and now have a huge advantage
when it comes to this upcoming postseason.
Hello, everybody. I am Donovan Redondo. I am your host for Rockets.
digest we'll break down all the latest news rumors
and updates regarding your H-town team and if
you're a Rockets fan you're you're
in a good mood today after seeing last night's game there there's
really no other way to feel
and the implications of that are this the Rockets have beaten Golden
State to secure home court advantage in the first round
of the playoffs this is great news for the
Rockets this was a very very intense game
and as we all know the Rockets have a you know very
difficult stretch of games
and so to play a game like this and come out on top is huge when it
comes to your momentum heading into the postseason I want
to break down a little bit on the standings
why do we have home court advantage well
as you can see here we are currently the second seed in
the Western Conference with only three games left
in the uh regular season the Houston Rockets could
if we lost let's just say i'm not saying fingers crossed knock
on wood if we did lose the rest of
our games the lowest we could possibly drop is to the third seed
so that guarantees that we will
have that home court advantage in that first round
of the Western Conference so congrats to the
Rockets a goal that we've set on uh our short-term goal
that we set on has officially been accomplished
We have three more games.
We have games against the Clippers, Lakers, and the Nuggets.
All tough games.
Hopefully all those we come out on top.
But as it stands, the Houston Rockets are a second seed.
And about last night's game, it was very intense.
It was probably the most intense game that we've played all season.
Or at least it's definitely up there.
Playing up against a guy like Draymond Green
and the Golden State Warriors,
that's certainly to be the case.
And it definitely was last night.
And it all started in the second quarter.
It started, you know, with Draymond making some contact before
the inbounds play on Shen
Goon and, you know, the ref kind of warning him,
hey, if you make contact like that, we're
going to call you for the foul.
Draymond said, hey, call the foul.
I don't care.
And then Shen Goon, he pushed Shen Goon again and it ended up,
you see on the right side
there, hitting him right in the chest, right in the face.
And that led to a technical foul.
And so right after that,
just led to an insane sequence between both teams of fast break
points going both ways a three-pointer from Steph Curry
a Shen Geng getting a bucket the emotions
were high and you can tell both teams had something
to prove especially the Warriors
who are currently in a i don't even know what
to describe it like it's as close as they can get in
that bottom half of the Western Conference standings
that that that three to ten you anyone
can drop down to anything i believe three
to eight are only separated by 1.5 games so you
could tell that they wanted this game
but so did the Rockets the Rockets did not back off and as
you can tell by the way that second quarter ended they did
not Van Vliet was literally trying to
draw a foul on Draymond with two seconds left in the half he did
and they got free throws off of it
and so they played the rest of the game with that intensity
the only quick quick note that I want to
mention about you know all of this is that yes
the Rockets came out on top but we did fail to
capitalize on some of these things we we took
a lot of technical free throws and we surprisingly
missed a lot of them i know Jalen Green missed it like
which missed a free throw Fred VanVleet
it wasn't technicals but he he missed the two free throws
to end the first half uh much to you know
Draymond's uh happiness and so it's little things like
that that when you play those games on the
road and postseason you got to convert
those and that's something that this team i'm sure
Donka has told them to work on and not get
in their head as much i know draymond's very easily
to have let that happen but going back to this this did
not stop here this actually just continued
throughout the game as in the third quarter Draymond Green went up uh
for a layup elbowing
Alperen Sengun right in his nose uh causing him to bleed
and this was eventually uh reviewed
and labeled a flagrant one which led to some free throws
which again i think uh Sengun
missed one of these technical free throws he went one for two
and so it's things like that where
we have to capitalize on but going back
to this specific play i considering his track record i
don't believe he was just kind
of going up willy-nilly like usual i felt there was some
bit of purposeful movement with the elbow you know
as you can see here he's sideways to the basket
which you know isn't the most normal way to shoot
a layup uh usually you're you're you're parallel
but that elbow sticks out
and so i i get the feeling that this wasn't i'm not saying he did
it like fully on purpose
but i'm i'm sure he wasn't afraid of contact and he wasn't
too worried about it he played it off like it was like a regular shot
but nevertheless uh this led
to Alperen Sengun
taking those free throws and
quite frankly just let the team to play with
even more intensity as you can see
they play with
that more intensity and this all
also falls back on how
much we got into under the Warriors skin
last night Steph Curry
and Ime Udoka had you know
an exchange of words heading
into halftime and you know
they were upset on some
foul calls that should have been made
and Steph Curry and Ime Udoka
they said something Ime Udoka described it
as you know he said something then i said something
it eventually boiled down to this uh
from a quote he had last night after the game he said when
people start complaining about foul calls crying
about physicality you've done your job that's the
first step in winning the battle so i told my team
when this team starts crying about it up the
intensity up the aggressiveness and make the rest adjust to you
and i love this quote from Ime
it kind of just shows that he don't really give a damn what teams think
or what he only cares
about his guys and he knows how
to get under people's skin he knows how this league is uh
reffed and so he's using all of that to his advantage
and it worked it worked amazingly
this this rockets team last night held
the golden state warriors to 26 points and under for each
quarter which is phenomenal to do that to against the golden state warriors
who have the best scorer of
all time in Steph Curry is insane
and the fact that they all did it with Steph Curry only scoring
three points his only his only shot that he made
was at the end of the second quarter which was
kind of like a you know i know he does a lot
of heaves from the three-point line but it was kind
of like a desperate heave in my opinion
that was his only points Amen Thompson did a tremendous
job defending uh defending Steph Curry last night
as you can see i want to bring up this box score
real quick real quick kudos to Dylan Brooks
for being last night's leading scorer 24 points
Amen Thompson with 19 Jalen Green with 21 all
those guys stepped up Jabari Smith had a great
second quarter which helped spark this team uh
with the intensity that we played within the second
along with all of those all occasions of course
but i want to bring up Amen Thompson right quick
look at his plus minus plus 26
on the night beyond anybody else's plus 26
that mainly is due to his
ability to play some of the best defense
in this league Amen Thompson effectively locking down
Steph Curry last night it's got
the entire NBA community talking about it and to me this just
puts Amen Thompson in the upper echelon of defenders in the NBA
and granted he's a two-year
you know player this is his second year in the league
and he's playing like he's been
a veteran in this league for 10 years
and playing locked down defense and to give you a better
insight on what I'm saying Alperen Sengun had
these quotes to say last night he said Ahmed
wasn't smiling all day he he was locked
in couldn't even talk to him he was locked in last
two games he's locking the best players
in the world best players in the league that's impressive
in just his second year he's putting names over there
and the defensive player of the year and
he's not wrong they played the thunder on friday night
and he locked down i wouldn't say locked
down but he held Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to 22 points
which may sound like a lot when you realize
Shai is a front runner for MVP scoring 31 points
a game that's 10 under his scoring average we'll
take that any day he's because he's going to get his buckets regardless
but to hold him to 22 it's
just it's just insurmountable to describe
on on the effect that he's had uh you know defending
guys like him and Curry you know you know chasing off all
those screens being right up in front of
them it's worked to perfection last night
was near perfection besides those three points from
Steph Curry and giving you more of a update
on on our quote on that aspect Steph Curry mentioned it
last night he said that's why he's out there
for 30 plus minutes a night because that's how he helps
them win he's kind of relentless he's a supreme athlete
and just found his lane how he can be
impactful so you gotta tip your hat to him
and he's gotten a lot better every every time that's
every time you kind of come up you face them
and that's coming from you know the best scorer
in NBA history and so probably the one
of the best compliments you can get as a defender i mean
kudos to Amon Thompson and the way he's been playing recently
and the way this whole team
has been playing recently everyone seems to be locked
in despite you know kind of pulling away
from those other teams you're playing some really hard teams
to end the season and you know you
things can easily slip
and so far they haven't let it slip they played the Lakers they lost the
Lakers but it was competitive
but they beat the Jazz since they beat the Thunder since
and they beat in the Golden State Warriors last night
and so that that shows that this team is in
fact locked in and i'll bring up the quote again
because Dylan Brooks said it after their win
against the Jazz he says we're playing against playoff teams
so it would be great chances to
test where we're at and play our hearts out
so we can end the year on a high note and this seems to
certainly be what the Houston Rockets mentality has
been heading into these last few games and
they are some important games uh a chance to lock down
the two seed uh with another win uh within these
last few games but we'll see how it goes there's there's
a lot to look forward to heading into
these last three games uh an exciting game against
the Clippers coming up we'll see how that turns
out you know potential first round matchup in itself as well
so it could be a quick preview but yes
amazing day for the Rockets a little chippiness
but it was certainly fun to watch let me know
what you guys think about the implications
of from the Golden State Warriors game and if you've
