Everyone is speaking out about this.
Quite frankly, folks, it has never been more clear
as following the Leafs choking a 3-0 lead in yesterday's game.
There is one area on this team that not only needs change,
there is one clear change that needs
to happen that fans are speaking out about.
We're going to break that down as well
as discuss a ton of other updates,
including an update surrounding OEL and a bunch more on this episode.
Before we get into it,
a very quick reminder to hit that subscribe button.
It's an unfortunate game yesterday.
The Toronto Maple Leafs lost.
He still managed to get a point on the back of really Sergei Bobrovsky.
But there is a clear area now that kind
of needs some change for this team.
And that is in the form of the blue line.
And the blue line has been an interesting
storyline to start the season.
Fans want Nick Blankenberg in the lineup.
Now, do I think that Blankenberg is going to be the savior?
No, but people want change.
Everyone is talking about it.
Can we get Blankenberg, please?
Get Troy Stetcher out of there.
Darius I think at this point I mean not only
do they need a defenseman kind of desperately right
now to change it up I think Troy Stetcher I don't think he's
been completely awful but I do think at
this point and there's a lot of blame to be put around
but I think at this point getting Troy
Stetcher out and putting Nick Blankenberg
in is something that they they need to try tomorrow and
I also hope John Chychrun is on the phone
because there's a clear area that needs to be changed
and that is the blue line is by far the worst part
of this team well like to blame everything
on troy stetcher in terms of like
the only reason they're losing is because of troy stetcher is
wrong right like that's not the reason
but it is time to give Nick Blankenburg a look just a few
games into the season now and like you said i hope john shika
is working on phones because it's clear
they they can't go through this whole season like
this they're gonna have to make some type
of an upgrade and again is it a simon edvinson you're gonna
be giving up a lot or is it just
something that's a a little bit uh you know smaller
that's just you know easier to shore
up the defense in the meantime until you figure something out
in seasons to come so i'm not
exactly sure what that looks like right now
but what i know it should look like heading into
saturday is nick blankenberg in for troy stetcher
and you didn't play him against his former team
in the nashville predators
so why not play him against his other former team in the colorado
avalanche on saturday so i do feel like it could come
to that at this point troy stetcher i love
him you know when they claimed him last year
i'm like hey this is a guy who's coming in that
you know has an infectious work ethic right
and something that i think rubbed off on a couple guys
and he seems like a good guy to be around all
that type of stuff he is shocking sometimes watching
him play right like watching him try to move the puck up the ice
and or really any of the Leafs
defense for that matter but um it is kind of shocking sometimes
so I think it I think it's him
and I think you move a Nick Blankenberg
in now Nick Blankenberg might play on Saturday no matter
what because we don't even know what's going on with OEL
and the fact that that wasn't a penalty
at the end of the game is a joke that is at least
the interference if not roughing because he slammed
his head into the ice so i thought that was a joke vegas
for the last five years has been one
of the least penalized teams in the league
the leafs have been one of the least uh you know they
don't get any power plays they don't get any calls for them right
so i thought that was an absolute
joke too at the end of the game
but uh i think you know a lot of fans are calling for it and at
this point i think Blankenberg will find his way
into the lineup one way or another yeah and you
know the refs yesterday they
were uh quite interesting it wasn't a huge uh you can blame
the refs and i think there's a big case
to be made it definitely should have been obviously
the blue line desperately needs some change
especially where october now is going to get
very very interesting very very quickly

because that is the Otis Edge yeah make sure you use the link
in the description pinned comment make sure
to check them out thank you once again to Otis Edge
for sponsoring this one now I want
to continue talking about this a little bit I don't know if
they have um you know you can look at the advanced analytics
and stuff like that but with the OEL
update now Jim Hiller came out after the game
and obviously he did not finish the game was hit late
in the third he said Hiller said that he was potentially okay
but there's no further update
beyond that if OEL is unavailable Darius
that opens up an easy option for Nick Blankenburg
for him to come in but i think the bigger storyline here
is just honestly the defense in general i
think something needs to change
and i don't think necessarily coaching staff you know Morgan Riley
still looks very very bad he looks the exact same
as last year nothing really changed in the in the
offseason there it's getting a little bit rough
when you look at all the things that are going
well the offense and then all of a sudden now you have
the blue line just continuing to uh
realistically continuing to be the clear kind of point here
and i mean oh we all he's had a very
very rough start to the year
but i'd still probably rather him on the ice than a couple
other guys but it's a clear problem right now
and there's no immediate fix because i like the
Leafs have an abundance of assets no you're right
and uh he has had a tough start to the season and
it's not even the advanced analytics it's just like
the eye test like he's thrown so many pizzas
up through the middle even last night he
was doing it again i was texting you about it nick i'm like
how is he continuing to do this this year it's it's crazy right
but obviously you know you would
wanted him in the lineup over maybe you know some options
from the marlies or anything like that
obviously i would trust them a little bit more in that case
but um i think it's interesting heading
into saturday so hopefully he's okay first of all right
because he did look he went straight to the
dressing room and look like he did smack his head off
the ice because i thought that was like a
there was no puck and then he threw him
to the ice like i don't know how that's not a penalty
but anyway it's not like that's going to take the injury back
or anything like that but i do think
there is a path to see Nick Blankenburg
in the lineup now besides the defense one thing i want
to talk about is Sergei Bobrovsky and the goaltending
because Bobrovsky hasn't got a win
yet with the Toronto Maple Leafs which
is very unfortunate for him because he should have won
that game he should have got that game last night
because he would have won them that game it would
have been his game so that would have been nice
and a nice storyline there but uh talking on the
goaltending a little bit too
and I guess the game that was I mean you play well enough in the first
period to win that game I thought they started great right like
that was a great start and one
thing that I've noticed this season at least
for the first five to ten minutes of a game they have
been starting on time. That is new.
That is something that they have not done at all for a
long time. That's something that notoriously they've
been poor at starting on time and starting
strong and getting after a game and imposing your will on a game.
So it was a great start. Then you
have one of the worst stretches I've seen
of Leafs hockey in that second period in a long time as
well. So that was awful. And then the third
was a little bit more even. You give yourself an
opportunity and Bobrovsky certainly gives you an opportunity to win
and you drop the extra point,
which is unfortunate but I see a lot
of people talking about how Bobrovsky hasn't won yet was
it worth it people are bringing up Joseph Wolf's stats even
though the Flyers haven't won a game
yet in their own 5-2 so um you know he's played well I just wanted
to point this out he's played
well he definitely deserved that win last night like just
for him himself um and I think he's
going to figure it out but I do wonder again
is it Stolarz now going against Saturday is it just
1-1-1-1 that they're going to go with I'd like
to see Bob out there again I mean he got them a
point last game at least in my eyes like
the amount of saves especially with how poor the
defense has been and Chris Tanev came out
and said we need to be better and help out bob
obviously had the glove save that save them a point right
and at the end of the day here
this team has a lot of issues
but also let's remain positive they look a lot at the very
least a lot more fun than last year to watch
so comment down below what your favorite part was
of the game obviously a bunch of goals he's
in count i got mckenna getting another point nick
paul with his first on the tip things are looking decent
and to get a point um against a very very
good vegas team is interesting folks let us
know down below what your thoughts are on this
