Oh, it's beautiful out. Off to the bus station. There's a crispness to the air that I have not
felt in months. That's what we were looking for. Yep. Good morning from Riga, Latvia. We are on
our way to the bus station right now to take another luxury bus into Šiauliai, Lithuania,
where our host will be picking us up. Today should be a pretty good travel day. We've taken a Lux
bus before to get here and it was luxurious. I'm really excited. I think they pronounce it Lux,
but... Lux, Lux, I'm going to call it Lux. Today's video is not just about this bus ride.
Once we get into the city, our host will be picking us up and taking us back to their farm.
So for the next five days, we're going to be staying with the local Lithuanian family
on their farm with sheep and other animals and all kinds of stuff.
Right across the street from the bus station is the largest market in all of Europe. So we're
going to have some breakfast from somewhere inside this massive place. One, uh, oh, sorry,
two. Just got some powdered sugar doughnuts. Pretty excited about that. What did we get?
I got perodzini, which are bread filled dumplings. I think this one is potato.
That looks good. This one is chicken and beef. Same thing. And then Amber got sugar doughnuts.
They were 30 cents. 30 cents. These were 90 cents a piece. These are very good.
Oh, it's warm. Yeah, these are nice and fresh. Hot. Holy, I can't even hardly grab this. What I like
about this potato one is that it's not just potato. It's nicely seasoned and you can see it.
These are delicious. Wow. Every Eastern European country has like breaded dumplings,
some kind of dumpling. If this is Latvia's, these are my favorite. This is one of the best.
They're seasoned so well. This is amazing. Can we find something to drink? I want a drinky drink.
Thank you very much. There's not a lot of places to sit here in the market,
so we found a coffee shop that didn't have stools, sat down, asked for coffee,
and the lovely shop owner talked us into buying this soup dessert. It's maize zupa,
and you can only get it in Latvia. Oh, that's good. Yeah, very interesting. What is this?
It's a dessert with cream and dried fruit. Yeah, bread soup. Okay.
Okay, thank you. Yeah, this is Latvian national fruit, black. Yep, okay. So that's in here. Yes.
This is bread soup dessert. Brown sugar, cinnamon, rye bread, and fruit, and with whipped cream on
top. He just asked us if we were bloggers, and we were like, yeah. And he goes, okay,
one minute, I'm going to show you something, and he just brought out these cups. Let's see what
happens. This is village kvas. Okay. You know? I don't know. Yes. So is it beer? No. No, no, no,
no alcohol. No beer. Okay. This is a tube from bread. Oh, also from bread? Yeah, yeah, from bread.
What? Thank you. So this is a very traditional drink. Yeah, yes, a cold drink. No alcohol. No
alcohol from bread. Okay. From bread. Yesterday at Lido, this is what I bought. I thought it was
beer. No, it wasn't beer at all. It was kvas, and it's made from rye bread. Interesting. I had no
idea. Yep. No, that's what we had yesterday. We thought it was over here. That's funny. This is
very good. From all of our research for Riga and Latvia, this didn't come up for some reason,
but it's everywhere. We've killed about as much time as we needed to.
Nathan found himself a new pair of sunglasses. He likes to copy me. Now we're just going to wait
for our bus. Our bus tickets were 22 euro per person. The ride's going to take about three
hours. We found them on getbybus.com. It is definitely the place to look when you want to
take a bus anywhere in Europe. We prefer buses now and trains over planes, even if it's going
to take us another couple of hours to get there. It's that much more convenient and comfortable.
We almost missed our bus. There's an error on somebody's end. Well, the bus doesn't say Lux
bus, and it wasn't in the right platform, but we asked because it had the same city on it,
and here we are. I think because we're going to a smaller city, it's a smaller bus.
There's even a gentleman who was waiting next to us. Once he saw that we asked,
he then asked the same question, so we weren't the only ones who made this mistake. This bus
may not have the tv screens that we were anticipating, but it does have a bathroom
and air conditioning, so we'll still be pretty comfortable. It's only three hours. I messaged
them 10 minutes ago, and they haven't responded, so I'm not sure they're here. I don't know if
they're here yet. Our bus dropped us off in the city of Cholet, but the town that we're actually
staying in, I think, is like 15 or 20 minutes outside of the city. That's why our host is coming
to pick us up. I'm really surprised at how many times we'll find like an out there Airbnb, and
it's a little bit more of an experience rather than just a place to stay. Yeah, this is one of
the first times we're really getting outside of the city. I don't even think there was a bus that
could have taken us where we needed to go, so I'm very happy that they're coming to get us,
because otherwise we would not be able to experience this. There's a grocery store at
the bus station. We just tried to buy beer, and they took it away from us. You can only purchase
it at certain times. We don't know what that time is. How do you pronounce this city? Cholet?
This city is Cholet. Cholet? City, and what is Cholet? Where are we right now? What is this city?
That's okay. It's very good. Cholet? Cholet. Cholet. Cholet, okay. I said shoe. Cholet.
What is name? Name, yeah. And your city name?
I am very excited to be here. This is definitely reminding me of home.
Not quite the farm animals, but just everything. More there.
You have a dog.
We're staying in a shipping container. Small farm. I love it. We want to do the same thing someday.
We wish. Yeah, we want this.
So we're staying back here in this bluish green box in the bathroom.
Is through here. I think in here. Yep. It smells so nice. Very impressed. Considering where we are
right now, I'm really impressed with this shower because we have stayed in far worse places.
Just beyond our little shipping container home for all the sheep.
We are staying on this farm for the next five days. Nathan asked why we didn't book it for longer.
To be honest, I don't know. I really just thought going into this, we didn't know how comfortable it
would be. The amenities are fantastic, but you don't want to book a week somewhere if you're
really not going to be comfortable. You live and learn. Oh my gosh. Almas is the owner who picked
us up and he calls this his paradise. As far as we understand, they've only owned the farm
for six or seven years, so this is a little new for them.
So he's got sheep and ducks and goats, all kinds of little birds. I've never seen anything quite
like it. It's beautiful. Oh, it looks like a little quail egg. Oh, look at them. Yeah.
Oh, here they all come. Oh my gosh. I'm not here to feed you. They all came running.
It's the brown chickens that lay eggs and then the big white beefy ones that you eat.
Ma'am? These ones are over here because they're the naughty ones. They're the troublemakers that
can't be trusted to be with the rest of the gang. It's always got to be somebody.
Almost had to run. Atta boy. Something I noticed on the bus ride here is that every single home
has its own greenhouse. It's amazing. And he did say it's very, very traditional for families to
have animals like this. There's also random boxes of bees everywhere. Got the whole thing. Got the
whole setup. He basically explained this is just a free-for-all, you know, like wander where you
want. It's all my property. Every box that you see anywhere on the property has most likely rabbits
in it. There's still a few that we haven't seen. Oh, hi. Excuse me. Excuse me. Who are you?
None of them have tried to bite me, which I'm very impressed with.
The Airbnb description for this place literally just talked about the sheep. I
had hoped that there would be other animals, but I actually didn't know until we got here.
I'm so happy. By far the nicest Airbnb we've stayed in. The most enjoyable Airbnb. The one
that makes me the happiest. By the way, this was $20 a night. What do you guys want?
You have a washer and dryer, you've got a kitchen, and you've got all of these animals that you can
just play with. And in a little bit, I'll be milking my first ever sheep. The way that we find
these places is we type in a low number per night, and then we expand outside of the cities. Find the
ones that have good reviews and give them a shot. Before booking, all I did was ask, is there a way
to get to your location without having our own vehicle? They said, yes, we will pick you up. Boom,
booked it right then and there. Days like today, we like to reflect and remember where we are.
We are on a family farm in the middle of Lithuania, nowhere near a big city.
And did we work hard to get here in the grand scheme of things? Yes. But at the same time,
we looked at Airbnb and took a little bit of a chance. We're glad we did. This is awesome.
We're going to milk the sheep later. There's definitely a little bit of confusion still on
how exactly we're going to eat. I think we'll have to borrow a bicycle and run to the nearest store,
but we'll figure that out once we get hungry. I'm hungry.
Well, we're here, so. We're literally about to take some bicycles like a mile and a half to
the grocery store. I am not coordinated enough to try to vlog that and talk and
ride one handed. We'll see what we can capture, but that's our plan for the evening.
Amber might not be capable enough of riding a bike and holding a camera, but I'm going to
attempt it. We got to capture this. We can't do this without capturing it.
I feel so cool right now. You are cool. Yeah. This is like one of the best days of my life.
Definitely almost fallen off of this bike a few times, but I just had to stop and show you guys
how beautiful this is. We've just hit the cutest neighborhood. I was just telling Nathan,
I think this is my favorite travel day, minus Gobekli Tepe. Like this is just the type of
experiences I go for. This town is so cute. How much was it? 33 euro. Okay. Let's see if we can
make it last five days. That's my goal. I think it will. We bought peanut butter for the first
time in nine months since we've been out. Of all the places. Time to go home. We are back.
Our host just brought us cheese that they make on the farm. Two different kinds.
One looks real moldy and stinky. What do you think? That's good. Not like anything I've ever
tried before. Really? Mm-hmm. That smells very interesting. It tastes like normal cheese.
It's good. I'm hungry. Very soft. We're gonna put some on our dinner. Yeah. Man knows how to make
his cheese. Time to make some dinner on our one little stove top. It's time to inhale this pasta
because in about 12 minutes, I'm scheduled to milk the sheep. And I'm sure you guys are sick
of hearing about it by now, but I'm really looking forward to it. Look at his little horns. He's a
baby. I'm dying. I don't even care if I milk him anymore. Just listening to this is hilarious.
From what we can tell, they literally just called all of the sheep into this tent back here.
Slowly but surely, one by one, they bring them around and they kind of corner them off
and they will milk one at a time. So growing up in the village, you learned to do this
when you were younger? No. No? No. I all learn to try. Oh, wow. First
sheep, I am milking about an hour. Okay. Now it's five minutes. Yeah. But at first,
it's very difficult. Yeah. After they milk them, she dumps the bucket with like the foam on top
into another bucket but filters out that foam. They get five to seven liters of milk per day,
but they don't have to milk them every day. It's a season. From August to March,
they don't milk. In the spring, they get a lot. Yeah. Right now, they're milking them once at
night. All right. How does this work? Yeah. And you need to pump. There we go. This is so much
harder than I thought it would be. I'm sorry. I hope I'm not hurting you. I'm trying so hard.
This is so much harder. It's finished. How much did she get? Not very much. That's how much I gave
up. That is a lot harder than I ever, ever thought. Kudos to them. I completely understand
why it took her an hour to accomplish it her first time. I would be here all night long.
It's 10 p.m. and you wouldn't even know it. They're still feeding all of the animals around
the entire farm right now. Nathan did not get to milk the sheep tonight,
but we are going to make it happen hopefully tomorrow or one of the next nights.
After Amber's attempt at milking the sheep, we had a bonfire with the other couple that
was staying on the farm. This was our first night of five on a sheep farm in the middle of Lithuania.
This table is for giants. These are short. It's way too tall.
