Oct 8, 2026
Playoff games are often closely contested encounters.
However, there are occasions when one team completely outplays their opponents.
Here is a list of the biggest blowouts in MLB playoff history.
In Game 4 of the 1999 American League Division Series,
the Boston Red Sox defeated the Cleveland Guardians
23-7, notching a record amount of runs for a postseason game in the process.
In 2018, the Red Sox demolished their rivals the New York Yankees 16-1 in Game 3 of the ALDS,
with 10 of the runs coming within the first four innings.
Two years after their humiliating defeat to Boston,
the Guardians destroyed the Seattle Mariners 17-2 in Game 3 of the ALDS.
In 1996, the Atlanta Braves faced a 3-1 deficit against the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLDS.
However, back-to-back wins were followed by a 15-0 thrashing in Game 7.
