Hey, what's up, Zach here.
And today I have got my favorite shoes for travel.
Whether or not you're on your feet all day,
need a shoe for both the pool as well as walking,
hiking and walking, or really any other combination,
I've got you covered.
Let's get into it.
Now, even though this is a list of shoes,
none of these shoes are any better than the other.
They're just all different
and they're all more tailored to different situations
you might be getting into,
which actually brings me to the first shoe on this list.
And that is the Deodora Be Elite Star.
Now, these are technically a tennis shoe,
but honestly they are much better of a casual shoe.
Now, these ones are,
since so many people end up playing pickleball,
outdoor basketball, or any type of like court sports,
volleyball, things like that when they go on vacation,
the Be Elite Star,
even though it can be used as a court shoe,
is such a good walking shoe too,
as well as, honestly, it's more of a casual shoe.
It actually does have real leather and suede in it,
so it breaks in incredibly well.
If you're sitting on an airplane all day,
it doesn't hurt your heels.
If you're standing all day in a line,
the Anima foam in it is absolutely amazing.
So you can walk in these, stand in these all day.
You can really play any sport in them.
So if you think you're gonna be getting
into some different things,
this is kind of like a nice catch-all shoe
for anything that you might be doing.
Plus, they breathe exceptionally well.
And, honestly, they look good really in casual
as well as maybe a tad more dressy.
So you can even jog in these
if you wanna actually have a friend
that does jog in these all the time and does fine.
This is kind of a great catch-all shoe,
and it's a good one to start the video off.
Now, let's say you're going on a trip
where you're gonna be walking, standing,
but also gonna be in the water,
whether it's a pool, lake, river, stream, ocean, whatever.
The best shoe I've found for this
has been the Crocs Mellow Recovery Shoe 2, the Mellow 2.
Now, there's also cane for sure.
The Crocs are a little bit more comfortable for more people.
It's got rubber on the bottom.
They're really durable.
The arch support is fantastic.
They don't really have any break-in time.
I would say wear socks
if you're gonna be wearing them a lot walking,
but you can wear them just as easily in the pool
or in the water as you could just walking around the city.
I've had my kid on two vacations
with this Croc right here, one Pacific Northwest,
one here down at Disney,
and he has just been brutalizing these things,
and they really don't look any worse for the wear.
If you're going to be walking all day,
like I have been at Disney all day
and then about to go back out for the evening,
if it's walking you're doing on your trip,
the 860, to me,
there has not been a better shoe for that in so long.
Mainly, number one, it's the shaping,
shaping of the midsole,
but also it's Fresh Foam X.
Fresh Foam X is, in my opinion,
the most comfortable foam out there.
Plus, it's got this little stability plate under it,
which just gives just enough support
so you're not wobbling a lot,
but it's not stiff at all.
You can still bend it, no problem.
And so, like I said, if you want a shoe for walking
and if you want to have a shoe for jogging too,
this is the best of both worlds.
All right, so let's say you're not only
going to be walking a lot on your trip,
but you're going to be walking
on a lot of different surfaces.
Say, maybe you're going to do a lot of trail stuff.
You're going to be doing some hiking
through part of your trip.
Then you're going to be on your pounding pavement
for part of your trip.
The Salomon XT6, whether it's the regular version,
that's these ones with the breathability,
or the XT6 GTX with Gore-Tex,
which is incredibly waterproof,
really depending on what you think
you're going to be getting into.
Either one of those is such a great pick.
The XT6 GTX, about as waterproof as it gets.
And for a casual shoe,
it's got some of the best arch support on the market.
It's more of like an old school arch support,
which I absolutely love.
The tie down on these is absolutely super easy.
They last forever.
The only thing I would not do with these
is if you're going to be running a lot
on asphalt, cement, and concrete,
I really wouldn't use them.
But if you're going to be trail running, it's fine.
But if you're going to be standing a lot,
walking, whatever, any sort of mixed use,
these are absolutely fantastic.
I just went on a trip to the Pacific Northwest,
where we hiked a lot up in Rainier and Cascades.
We also were kind of doing a lot of city stuff in Seattle.
And so I had these for most of the trip,
and it was just absolutely fine.
They're definitely not going to be
the most plush thing on the planet.
They're much more of a supportive shoe.
But if you throw in more of like
an open cell type urethane insert in there,
you kind of get the best of both worlds.
If you're looking for more of a plush shoe
with the same type of profile,
the Nike ACG Zagama, I would say,
would be like the other side of this coin.
If you're looking for more of a plush ride,
out of that shoe, you can also do some trail running in.
The Zagama, you can do a little bit more
like road running too.
But also the Zagama, you can just kind of
stand and walk and really whatever.
So I'd say if you want more support
and more of a shoe you can kind of wear
as like more of a casual shoe,
I would say the Salomons, a little more waterproofing too.
If you're looking for more of like a plush ride,
go with the ACG Zagama.
All right, so what's the worst part of vacation?
Coming back to work on Monday.
And what is the other worst part about it?
It's finding out that a shoe that you recommend
to like everybody, it seems like,
it's changing in the next model year.
So the shoe I'm talking about
is the Under Armour Slip Speed and Slip Speed Mega.
Now, this is a brand new pair that I have just bought
because I am afraid this shoe is about to change.
That's why I'm putting on this list.
That's why I'm kind of telling you,
if you're gonna buy them,
you probably wanna buy them now
because you can still get them everywhere.
And if you like these, this is the time to stock up
because the next one coming in
or the one that's out now, the new one,
is the Slip Speed Echo.
And it doesn't have flow foam.
It does have some rubber pods on the bottom,
but underfoot flow foam to me,
especially for like a versatility type shoe,
which I'll talk about in a second
why I like these so much for travel,
if you haven't watched some of my videos before.
But flow foam to me is much better than that.
It doesn't have the same boa closure
as the Slip Speed and the Slip Speed Mega,
which to me is like one of the best parts of these
in terms of a versatility shoe.
Yeah, it's still just pushed down in the back,
but to me, like all the best parts of the Slip Speed
are kind of going away in the Echo.
So maybe I'm wrong.
Maybe they will continue to make
Slip Speed and Slip Speed Mega,
but if you kind of see they're writing on the wall,
like I've seen with other companies
in the last, you know, model years,
things just seem like you're getting less,
you know, for more, you know, less for paying more,
to put it that way.
So if you're gonna get them,
I would say get them now while they're still plentiful.
The reason I like the Slip Speed
and the Slip Speed Mega so much,
number one, it's kind of like the same as the Crocs.
Like you can wear them as a sandal.
You can just push them down,
wear them as a mule or a clog.
You can get them wet just fine.
You can wash them just fine.
The boa is so easy.
You can work out in them.
You could jog in them short distances, just fine.
If you're more just like using these like a gym shoe,
let's say like you wanna go and work out in the gym
where you're at, you can use them
if you need to walk around all day,
they're just fine.
You wanna take them to the pool.
That is absolutely fine.
I wouldn't hike in them,
but for like the ultimate versatility shoe,
not just for travel,
but like I wear Slip Speeds at work all the time.
Mine are getting a little bit eh,
so I wanted to get another pair,
but I'll probably get a pair or two more
just in the color ways I like,
because like I said, I'm afraid of the Echos.
I don't really, I'm not interested in the Echos.
I'd be quite honest.
So you're gonna get them, get them now.
But in terms of the all around like best versatility shoe
for travel and just in life to me,
like if you've watched any of my videos
on the main channel or my second channel,
you'll probably know how much I talk about this shoe.
I've liked it since it has come out
and I've recommended it a ton since it has come out.
So yeah, let me know your thoughts
in the comments down below
about any of these shoes on this list
or any that I didn't get or any situations
I did not go over that you would like me to go over.
I'd say if you have to wear dress shoes,
you know, some people are gonna ask about dress shoes.
There are no great, you know, like dress dress shoes.
Cole Hawn makes a bunch that actually have foam in them.
They're a little bit more comfortable.
No, they're not like ultra dressy,
which is kind of a problem.
But then again, you know,
unless you're going custom on dress shoes,
it's tough to get ones for a decent price
that aren't gonna kill your feet.
So unfortunately I don't have like
any great recommendations on those.
If you do, let me know in the comments down below.
Like I said, a lot of the Cole Hawns
are some of my favorites.
If you want kind of a little more supportive foam
and to be able to get orthotics in them.
So let me know in the comments down below
what your favorite travel shoes are.
And if you want to see what shoes I think are the best
for just walking and standing all day
or the shoes that I wear every day as my personal shoes,
the ones I like the most as a foot doctor,
make sure you click into either of these videos right here.
I'll see you in the next one.
