Surviving 24 Hours On Tropical Island (Catch & Cook)

See if we can get something for a feed. We're gonna be going after spider conch G'day guys and welcome back to another episode now Fran and I are out exploring a new island group and check this out It's probably the most beautiful yet. So the water is blue. The sand is white as palm trees everywhere Absolute paradise eh Fran? Yes So what are we up to today? So we're definitely gonna go for a snorkel, see if we can catch anything to eat Yeah, and the thing I'm most excited for is tonight. We're gonna go for a night snorkel And see what kind of creatures come out. Yeah, that's gonna be awesome guys. Let's get straight to the action. You'll love this one This place is just paradise. So we're gonna try and find a couple of green coconuts, which are nice to drink Open them up, sit on the beach, relax and rehydrate. We got some drinks for sundowners One for me, one for Fran Test his axe out Well, that's a really yummy one That's a really nice one You get any in your mouth? It's so good though. It's yum eh? It's really sweet It's a bit fizzy too. Yeah, so good Nice. So satisfying Earned yourself a drink Looks like we've got a little window of opportunity where we can get in and see if we can get something for a feed We're gonna be going after spider conch. We'll show you what they look like when we grab them They're actually pretty good eating. So let's go see if we can find some Alright, we're just cruising through the lagoon here I'm gonna jump in and have a snorkel around these little pools See if we can find something to eat and Fran is actually gonna walk the reef. So two different approaches We'll see what we can come across Not only are we looking for something to eat but this area here is just like a nursery for all sorts of other cool animals So let's go check it out This is where the ocean is The ocean is coming through here As the tide comes in flooding this one little section Under there there's gonna be heaps of fish Alright guys, there's some Look at those little crays, they camouflage in and ambush any little prey that comes past The closer you look the more things you see just popping out like this territorial little damselfish So he's obviously got a nest just around this bit of coral As soon as you get close to it, he comes out and he warns you off Giant clams, they're so beautiful These little rafts are so pretty They always hang around stingrays Because as the stingrays feed they come in and pick up any little crabs that have been washed up It's lunch time so we really are a team of five This one is just by the pond But I think it's got a heavy crab in there Too many, eh? We'll probably only need three each So, you wanna release some? Yeah, let's release some Alright, you go for it Which one are these ones? This one? This one is looking at us And that one wants to go back? Yeah Desperate That's the only one looking He deserves to live another day, that one Yeah Look at that Just play some nicely quick while it's studying Don't! You're horrible Oh that's really nice friend Now you have that one That one? You want me to open yours? Yes please You make it look so much easier than when I do it Yeah, a bit of practice You'll be there in no time Refreshing? So good It's actually the perfect temperature How's that fire going friend? It's pretty hot I think it's almost ready Alright, we might just knock them down to coals And then get them on, eh? Cool Hold him up friend Yeah, nice The cooking style here is pretty back to basics Those spider conches, the way they're designed They can cook perfectly in their own shell We've just got this bamboo Down to a coal base Now bamboo burns really really hot So it's going to be well and truly hot enough To cook these spider conch That's our plate Mine and yours Okay This one in the middle is definitely done He's definitely done Good job Nice, we'll just wait for them to cool down And then we'll crack them open Moment of truth Oh yeah That's him Quite a lot of meat, eh? That's what you're after there Beautiful spider conch There's a whole lot of meat there Yeah Now that's all the meat And then the gut stays behind Yum yum Oh that's so good friend You can see how he just spirals Deep into his shell there Eat it Take that bit of outside skin and guts off That can go in the fire And that's what you're after Oh nice Yum Nice It should have this like as a Rage management Anger management glasses Are you taking your anger out? I hope so Oh this one is so hot Why's it not breaking? Now we're getting somewhere Oh yeah Yum yum I guess this is a Lunch date tropical island style Spider conch for lunch Good hey It's a really weird taste I reckon it's a mix between a Scallop like that taste And a crayfish so add those two together You get a spider conch So nice Oh you can't eat this part Don't eat that part What? Sea lices You got sea lice in your pants Bit big Oh yeah you gotta watch out For them Alright it's just And hopefully capture some of this beautiful Tropical island How was your day Fran? We can sit here It's pretty nice hey Now as the sun sets and the ocean turns dark There's all sorts of wild and wonderful Creatures that come out to play Some are hunting and looking for a feed And others are looking for a good place to hide Let's jump in the ocean and see what we can find Going on an adventure Look at this moray I hope yous enjoyed that, that was awesome What are we doing tomorrow Fred?
