We are on the road, we've got some busy days ahead of ourselves here, looking forward to
see the impact that the foundation has had here in Malawi.
For Roger Federer, as a president of a foundation, it is crucial to have him in the preschools,
on the ground, in rural areas, because only there he can realize what kind of change he
can impact with his foundation.
I really loved playing with all the children at the playground and learning through play.
I've been doing it with my children for years now, so I'm a little bit of an expert, but
we had a great time, a lovely time.
So we're about to attend a training session from the mentoring program that we have here
in Malawi, where they get educated for early learning, and I'm also happy to know that
the Minister of Gender is going to be there, because they're all so crucial to give the
children of Malawi a better quality of education for the future.
A visit of Roger Federer in Malawi can open doors and create new dynamics.
This is why we met in the last days ministers, parliamentarians and international donors,
all with the goal to have more funding for early learning in this country.
It's amazing to see that in rural Malawi we have a digital device, like the early learning
kiosk, making a difference for children here, and the caregivers are doing an incredible
job.
I love seeing that.
So we're here at the Senga Bay Primary School.
I'm really excited to see how the school is ready for its young, young students, so let's
go have a look.
There are many good reasons to invest in early childhood development.
But when Roger became a father, he truly became an expert himself in early learning, and he
was very convinced that this is the most powerful investment he could do with his foundation.
What I want to do is help.
I want to give the people and the kids here a chance in Malawi, because I do believe the
potential is incredibly big, and this is why I'm here in the field, to see it for myself,
so I can also then tell the story when I come back to Switzerland.
I also had the chance to see the learning through play situation with parents and their
children.
It was lovely to see, because I think it is so crucial for children to also be learning
at home and not just in school, and I think that combination is going to be wonderful.
So our trip to Malawi, again, was magical, I thought, on many levels.
Seeing the caregivers, I think, was for me the highlight and the thing I enjoyed the
most.
Seeing them interacting with the children in the classroom, what we saw again today
was fantastic.
I think the impact is there, and that's exactly what we wanted.
