Rebuilding the Stonework for Our New Window | Old Stone Finca Restoration

This opening was originally a cupboard built into the wall, with only a very thin stone wall closing off the back of it. As part of the room restoration, we're replacing that with a proper solid stone wall and a new window.
After removing the remaining plaster and clearing the opening, we exposed two beautiful original almond lintels and prepared the base with limecrete.
We're using the traditional construction of large through-stones, building up both faces of the wall and packing the centre with smaller stones. It's slow work, and this section is going to take us weeks rather than days, so this is very much the beginning of the stonework.
The whole room is gradually coming together, but there's still a long way to go!
