I'm going to show you how we make our famous buttermilk pancakes.
We've got flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder.
Now in a big bowl, I'm going to put in some buttermilk, two eggs, add oil, whisk that up.
Whisking that up.
Just dump the dry into the wet.
And who comes to flapjacks?
I have a couple that come from Italy twice a year.
Come on.
I swear to God.
My people.
You're set to go. You don't overmix it because you want it to be nice and lumpy.
That will create more bubbles in your powder.
Lumps are good, huh?
Lumps are good. We're all set to go.
Hey, hey, hey. Bigger, bigger.
You said they're small.
They're small, but not that small.
The other side is getting burnt.
I know. Flip it.
Boom, that's it.
You've got it.
Pow.
Boom.
Now we have a problem.
What happened?
Stuck together.
Stuck together? Nothing's stuck together here, my friend.
Line them up nice and neat.
The prettiest one on top.
This flipper is wrong. I'll get you later.
One more.
Okay, powdered sugar.
Perfect.
Look at that, eh?
So let me know what you think of our yummy pancakes.
I will.
Oh, they're so good.
Good?
Yeah.
That's what's made us famous.
And you.
Oh, thank you.
Did I make a good pancake?
Actually, you did make a good pancake.
Thank you very much.
I'm going to show you how to make our famous banana bread.
Okay.
So we're going to grab butter.
Butter's always good.
Sugar.
Blend it nicely.
So who came up with this idea?
We can't keep our banana bread stocked on the shelf.
And I thought, you know what, let's mix the two together.
Customers absolutely love it.
Two eggs.
How long has Flapjacks been around?
Flapjacks has been around since 1979.
People would come from all over the world
to come experience a traditional Canadian breakfast.
So now we're going to mix flour,
baking powder,
baking soda.
We're going to mix dry ingredients
into our wet ingredients.
So is this your own banana bread recipe?
Yeah, it's my very own.
Really, eh?
Now we're going to add the right bananas.
The browner the banana, the better.
That's the secret.
Sour cream.
You've got to have sour cream.
Stir it up for me, John.
Just until it's mixed together.
If you overbeat it, it's going to become dry.
Okay.
Good, yeah?
Perfect.
Okay.
Spray it with canola oil.
Pour that in there.
All the whole thing in there?
Yep.
Oh, that looks fantastic.
Perfect.
Let's get this into the oven.
350 degrees, 60 minutes.
Oh, that smells fantastic.
Isn't that great?
Yes.
So now we'll cut the banana bread,
nice thick slices.
Dip it in the egg mixture.
Eggs.
A little bit of vanilla.
Some milk.
Sugar.
Flour.
Salt.
Cinnamon.
Dip it in the egg mixture.
Throw it on the flat top.
Grill it until it's nice and golden.
And serve it with caramelized bananas.
Oh, that sounds fantastic.
Can I try some of that?
Sure, let's go.
Oh, great.
That is the best French toast I've ever eaten.
Bananas melted in butter and strawberries and whipped cream.
Here at Flapjacks, you're not going to be disappointed.
I'm John Catucci, and you've got to eat here.
