Here's your New York Giants practice report for Thursday from East Rutherford.
The Giants used a jog through today with only shells on, that means shoulder pads, helmets,
mostly shorts, no contact in today's session and basically they just simply ran through a bunch of
plays as if it was a mini camp. But it was significant in that Malik Nabors was allowed
to participate in the team portion of the drills for the first time during this offseason. They did
give him a red jersey which meant to all of his teammates make sure that you do not touch him,
there is no contact allowed. In fact they did throw a handful of passes to Nabors during the
drills and he looked very good and fluid and speedy in making those plays. Jackson Dart said
that not only was Nabors incredibly excited about being out there but you could tell his teammates
were as well. This was a big step in ramping him up. Also noting that as far as Nabors is concerned
he is a game changer every time he's on the field and everybody notices that. Also talking to Brian
Callahan, passing game coordinator, about Jackson Dart saying you could see that his footwork is
better, he is much more consistent, much more smooth and saying that his eyes are also working
much better as well. Saying that there's been a lot of progress but we still have to be able
to see him in some games. Other items to note today, there was a short pass thrown over the
middle to Odell Beckham Jr. It was one of those short slants that we saw many years ago when he
was originally with the Giants, caught it and then raced 60 yards downfield against Spry in fluid.
All of the coaches are impressed with what Beckham has been able to do to this point. Finally at the
end of practice the Giants actually practiced their game day introductions for what they will
do on Saturday against the Vikings as well as their warm-up drills because after all this is
the first time they're together under John Halbaugh and this coaching staff. Finally coach Halbaugh
saying that tomorrow they will do a walkthrough and for the only time this week they will actually
do a little bit of preparation in the walkthrough for the Minnesota Vikings. Coach saying that this
game is truly all about the Giants and what they need to do for themselves. That'll do it for the
practice report. Keep it tuned to the New York Giants on SI Media Network for all of your information.
Until next time, I'm Paul Dottino.
