Here's your New York Giants practice report for Tuesday in East Rutherford,
and we'll give you a couple of highlighted plays from the practice because it was a fully padded
practice, but afterwards the storylines at the podium were probably a little more interesting,
so we'll get to that as well. Remember the Giants are taking off for Miami, a joint practice with
the Dolphins on Thursday, a preseason game on Saturday, so they'll be leaving for Florida
on Wednesday. On the 11-on-11s, Malik Nabors catching a long bomb from Jackson Dar. Looks
spry, looks fluid. Second day in a row that Nabors has been able to do some things.
John Holbrook said he looked good. We'll talk about more about that in just a bit.
Thomas Ferdoni making a diving grab just inside the right sideline was another one of the
offense's better plays of the day. Defensively, we saw Barnes coming up with a pass defensed
against Cambry. We saw Green knocking the ball away from Theo Johnson. We also saw McFadden
perfectly sniff out a quarterback keeper and stuff it for no gain. Those are just some of
the highlighted plays in the 11-on-11s. Now, let's talk a little bit about the storylines.
In terms of Malik Nabors, John Holbrook saying he's going to have to advance past the red jersey
and take some bumps and hits in practice before he will be cleared in a game. But again, not
giving a timetable as to when that could be, saying that he did think over the last two days
Nabors did well and looked good. Also, John Holbrook talking about a signing this morning,
running back Najee Harris, a four-time 1,000-yard rusher with the Pittsburgh Steelers,
was with the Chargers last season. A month in, tore his Achilles, has been out since.
Well, he played for Jim Harbaugh, John's brother over there. Of course, those two brothers conversed,
and so John Harbaugh brings him over to the Giants saying he's physical, he's experienced,
he's a downhill runner. It may take him a couple of weeks to get ready, but they think it can be
a big addition to the competition in the running backs room. Harris himself talking about coming
back from the Achilles, says he's getting some strength back where he can push off on his leg,
getting some confidence back. Says this is a really good opportunity for him. Says he knows
a lot about Coach Harbaugh from when he was in Pittsburgh and Harbaugh was in Buffalo.
Says those were the most physical games in the NFL, and he very much so has something to prove
and is looking forward to playing John Harbaugh style of football. Finally, Abdul Carter, also at
the podium today. Basically, one of the interesting things he said is that he absolutely loves this
outside linebackers room, thinks it's the deepest in the NFL, and would love to see the New York
Giants have the NFL team sack title this season, but does know it's going to take a lot of hard
work on a daily basis to get there. Now tonight, eight o'clock eastern time, live on the New York
Giants on SI YouTube channel, we'll have the Big Blue Breakdown live and we will talk with two-time
Super Bowl champion and two-time Pro Bowl long snapper, Zach Diasi, as he analyzes and breaks down
the Giants entirely rebuilt special teams unit, which coming into training camp was a huge question,
but it does appear like it's trending in the right direction.
Once again, that's tonight at 8 p.m. eastern time. I'm Paul Titino.
