Welcome back to The Crafty Quinn. If you're new here, I'm Megan, a real human making real crafts
every single week, not AI at least. That's what the AI told me to say. Today we're taking the
brand new 2027 Dollar Tree Fall calendars and turning them into high-end decor no one will
ever guess came from Dollar Tree. These are the three calendars we're going to be using throughout
this video. I just want to give the artists a shout out as well because when you look at these
calendars make sure to check the bottom left for the names of each of the artists that made these
pictures and just always follow them on Instagram or show them some support because imagine spending
all this time on creating this beautiful artwork just to see us crafters cutting them up with
scissors. So go find them on Instagram but I normally do that and I like to follow them.
So for this first craft I'm just going to take this Dollar Tree beaded frame and I'm going to
just take it apart because we don't need any of that stuff but we are going to make a cool
background for it using the scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby and so we are just going to use the
backing of this frame as our tracing element. So I just made it in the corner here it's just easier
because then I only have to cut two sides and I'm using an exacto knife for this. I really have
started using that a lot more because I just you know it cuts out the middleman of like tracing
and then cutting so it really does help things go a little bit faster if I do cut it right the first
time. So once we have our shape it's good to go and then we can move on to cutting this poor calendar.
So we have five crafts for you today and like I said we're going to be using three calendars
and I think I grabbed four or five this year but these are all out right now on shelves in Dollar
Trees so they're usually on an end cap or kind of over in like the office supplies area but
uh yeah so I'm seeing them in stores and I am able to find them every time I go to Dollar Trees
so that is great. So for a lot of these crafts a lot of these little pictures come in handy
these are so many things you can do with them and I am using an exacto knife for this step as well
but for all the others if I cut them I like cut them out with scissors but yeah so I'm just doing
that. This one was a little bit like harder of a backing so that's why I wanted to try my hand at
using an exacto knife for this instead of the scissors but other times I just kind of get
impatient and I feel like it goes faster if I do this and make sure to always put your lid back on
your exacto knife because you don't want that to fall and land on your toe. That has not happened
to me I'm just saying it's a fear of mine. So once it's all cut out we are going to just put some
craft glue stick on this you can also use mod podge but I'm just too impatient so I just used
a craft glue stick. So I was trying to line this up perfectly with all the little diamonds and
made sure it had some like perfect alignment at the top and the sides and then I did let this sit
overnight I wasn't sure how it was gonna stick but I just got something really heavy I just grabbed
all my paints and then uh I let that sit overnight and it worked out great and that is the backing of
the calendar that came well it's the cardboard piece that came with the calendar they each have
one of those. So we are almost done with this craft this is a super super easy one just put it
back together and for the final step we are going to use some of the waverly pumpkin chalk paint
and use a tiny little chippy brush and just drag that over the wood beads around this dollar tree
frame. So this is like the tiniest size chippy brush that I was able to find I have a multi-pack
of chippy brushes and they're like literally from tiny to ginormous so if you guys want to link to
that I can link to that below. This is the final result and I love the orange in this craft
and it almost kind of looks like Mackenzie Childs. So for this next craft this is another brand new
antique looking frame that I found over in the frame section of Dollar Tree and I don't know
you guys but they're kind of normally in the back of the store now I feel like they kind of maybe
changed the layout but I'm just going to take a page from this and it says hello fall and as much
as I would have loved for that piece to fit it just it's too big for this frame but the design
of the calendar itself is so pretty I'm like there's got to be a way to make this work so I
just use an exacto knife again but this time on the page here and this is going to be a beautiful
background for this frame and if you have a silicone mat like I do make sure to put down
something like this cardboard because I once pressed down so hard that I literally sliced
my silicone mat so now I just have a huge cut in it but I refuse to get rid of this mat because I
love it so once it is all cut out sometimes there's a spot you have to go back so once it is
all cut out we are ready for the next step the lid back on and then we are going to now glue stick
this to our backing so the backing of this frame I think it's a chalkboard I haven't tried to
write with chalk or anything on it because I normally just craft with it right away and I don't
try I haven't tried it out I just want to make stuff with it so but I think the material is like
a chalkboard so there is going to be kind of like a little you know extra space in that one corner
but I don't really feel like it's that noticeable once it's all put together and then just cut off
these two pieces because it will kind of mess with the image if you don't do that and then
just put it all back together super super easy so I feel like half of these crafts are super easy
and then the other the other half a lot of steps but I have to say I don't even think I could pick
a favorite these were all so much fun so I'm taking some antique waverly wax and I'm going
to antique this antique frame and for this I did this in my last video as well you kind of have to
really use a lot on your brush and not be afraid to do that because it just doesn't want to show
up if you don't do that I mean it's plastic but it definitely takes a lot of wax so I just kind
of keep going back adding more if it looks too light and then just try to get it really in the
creases there at the top and then what's great about it is it did look kind of like spotted and
and when you look at an antique frame it has kind of like those like missing like spots and specks
I kind of did get that look as well using this chippy brush so I wasn't sure if I was going to
have to use that like dental sponge brush that I also have but this definitely worked better
so just keep adding more until it's your desired level of antique
and then I really felt like it needed something in the middle and I couldn't figure out what
because I already added a pumpkin to another craft I made similar to this so I found these
hello fall letters for my stash and then just stained them with the antique waverly wax that
I just used for this frame and just hot glued it in the middle to make this craft all done
I love how it turned out we are already on to DIY number three so this I have to make a fall truck
every year but I am taking this antique waverly wax and I'm using a makeup wipe to evenly distribute
the wax and that was literally what I just did with those wood words in the craft before this but
for this I was trying to start off doing the hardest pieces of this truck first because once
you paint it it's so hard to not get the stain on the rest of the things unless you can I guess
tape it off perfectly but I just wanted to start off doing the trickiest parts and using the
darkest paints because I feel like it's a lot easier to touch up on a dark paint versus you
know painting a light paint by accident with dark paint but that's just me that's my personal
preference so we are going to paint the tires we are going to do all the wood pieces and this truck
has a lot of different elements and dimension to it so this is one of those Dollar Tree trucks
I haven't seen them out on stores yet this year but I have a couple of these in my stash because
I just I love to make these but I also love to add calendars to these it's so awesome to have that
as like the focal point of these truck crafts because you can put it right in the very middle
there next to the door so I'm using waverly pumpkin chalk paint it's very fitting and I'm
just painting everything that I feel should be orange so pumpkins we got most of the body of the
truck here and then I wanted more pops of color so I felt like maybe in this space here if it
would show that I could just add waverly moss chalk paint to it and it ended up not showing up
there but then I figured let's just do the tops of these wheels here I personally love pumpkin
color paint and green as um as a good combination and then I did antique waverly wax as just the
tips of these pumpkins and then I had too much so I used the makeup wipe and just got off the extra
stain so then I wanted to add something that looked similar to hay and this was the best thing
that I had on hand this is Dollar Tree moss I have not been able to find Spanish moss I don't know
about you guys but I don't know if they're just not selling them anymore or maybe they're going to
launch something new but this was the closest thing I could find so I'm just hot gluing it all
there and that was really the best way to hold it there and then so I put it kind of through the
the trunk racks and then I also put it right below the pumpkins and then we are going to use
the small version of the calendar that I just showed you in the last craft and we're going to
cut that out and that is like I said going to be the focal point of this truck so it did have to
be cut down a little bit I wanted to make it fit but also I just felt like it needed a really
farmhouse kind of backdrop against it so I have this roll of burlap and this one I'm pretty sure
I got from Hobby Lobby because it's kind of a little higher quality no offense Dollar Tree
so I just use some hot glue one in each corner a little dot there and that's really all you need
and then same with this I just made sure to place the glue kind of right underneath where
the calendar was instead of through the burlap and then I am taking some anti-wiggly wax and
I just draw little x's to get the excess off of my brush before doing projects like this and
distressing projects like this so that really helps get closer to the look that I'm trying to
go for usually so I did this to most of the truck and then I'm also doing this to the pumpkins so
they look like muddy pumpkins and then I did kind of like the the bumper and front tail light
or front light and this was the final result so I did leave that opening at the top and you know
you can turn it back into a sign whenever you want that way DIY number four so this is a brand
new little Dollar Tree uh it's supposed to be like a door hanger basically so I grabbed this because
it's pumpkin shades and it said hello pumpkin on it and then there was also a pumpkin latte version
of this that I grabbed and I'm still trying to figure out what to make with that one but this
is going to be this little calendar piece is going to be kind of like the focal point of this DIY as
well so I'm using my finger sander I love this thing I feel like I use it in almost all my crafts
all the time but I've had this thing since I want to say 2021 2022 and it has held up so this is the
same exact one and I just get new uh sandpapers for it and just swap it out so I sanded all that
down and that was what it looked like I got rid of everything on it came right off because it was
kind of lightly painted on here and just as the background I used white waverly chalk paint
and then antique wax for the pumpkin stem so I felt like white was a good backdrop color on this
because the most of the calendar itself was kind of like a stark white so then I put this on here
and I just felt like it needed something else oh yeah I did let this sit for a while too just to
make sure it would stick and you can also mod podge over this too if you want it to be an outdoor
one to withstand the elements but I just felt like it needed more because it was so stark white
so I'm trying to use this trick with dental sponges and kind of give it a distressed look
but I realized I did a little too much the first time I'm still a little out of practice with this
one because I don't use it as much as the chippy brush so I'm still kind of testing it as I go
but I got a huge pack maybe 500 of these like dental sponges and I use them now for
antiquing some things so I'm just putting this back together because I basically disassembled
this so I'm just putting this back together and I just use some jute twine and you kind of have
to put it together all as one but you have to tie it first to the metal part here and this is just
how they had it I kind of ripped everything off cut all the string off so I kind of tied it like
that and then how they did it was they had theirs kind of wrapped they took jute twine and just kind
of wrapped it around that piece there and so I kind of tried to make it look like that and once
it was good enough I wrapped the string around the other string a few times I just hot glued that in
place so it would not move but you also want to make sure the pumpkin has a little give so it can
actually like swing and then I just decided once I liked the length of the string for the door hanger
I just did a knot at the top and cut off the excess string but we're not done it needs a bow
it used to have a raffia bow I ripped that off and I found this little pre-made bow in my stash
and I figured it kind of matched the pumpkin on here with the buffalo check look and here is the
final result so this was kind of a glow up for Dollar Tree's little beaded door hanger and I
loved getting to use a Dollar Tree calendar for it so DIY number five I have been thinking about
this oh cat jump scare I've been thinking about how hi Eddie I've been thinking about how to use
this latte this wooden latte as soon as I'm about to start a craft he like loves to get involved
and this is one of Dollar Tree's brand new wood cutouts it's a pumpkin latte and so I used
folk art burgundy true burgundy as the main color of this latte I love just the fall look of this
so this is what the cup looks like and then of course I have to use pumpkin for the pumpkin
by the way did I mention I have a kitten named pumpkin a lot of you might know that but anyone
new here I have an orange kitten named pumpkin I had to do it I'm obsessed with fall so once the
pumpkin is painted we are then going to stain the stem just like how I did with all my other crafts
in this video I just took a makeup wipe and just use it to used it to evenly distribute the antique
wax next this calendar so this one was not one of the original ones that I showed you guys that I
purchased I just found this one yesterday and it was just too perfect for this craft I had to get
it so it says I love snuggle weather I mean it was absolutely perfect for this so I just cut this out
and I made it smaller and smaller and it was oddly shaped so I couldn't make it like rounded so I kind
of cut out more of that burlap ribbon cut off all the edges here just try to make it smaller and
smaller so it would fit on the pumpkin and not look awkward so then I have this large roll of
burlap that I got from Hobby Lobby a while ago for projects like this and I'm so glad I did
and I think it was on sale when I got it but normally I think this whole roll is about twelve
dollars which I feel like isn't bad to begin with these days but yeah so I'm just kind of
tracing it the shape of the latte would cut out here I don't know if you guys remember but they
had a pumpkin spice latte would cut out last year but it looked more like a like one of those like
Starbucks cups and I made a similar craft to this but I love doing this every year so it's always
fun getting to use the newest cutout so we just hot glue down our burlap so I hot glued of course
where those edges are kind of like I guess threaded or whatever you want to call it at the top
so I wouldn't burn myself and then here I'm trying not to burn myself so I use that makeup so it's a
it's a mask thing from Dollar Tree from their makeup section and it's got like a rubber like
silicone tip and I use that so I don't burn myself so we're just gonna hot glue all of these pieces
together just like how I did with the last craft or the craft before that so we are good to go
that is in the middle we have a burlap backdrop behind this pumpkin and then I'm just cleaning up
the area here by the way I have had this ladybug vacuum since I want to say 2022 as well I am a bit
of a hoarder I guess but when I find something that I like for crafting I just keep using it
so I got this spackle on sale at Michael's actually because I had a 30% code I found online
and thank gosh I did because spackle is so expensive I was just telling you guys last video
how I wanted to get some but it's so expensive now for a small size it's like about nine dollars or
so and seven eight dollars I think is the cheapest you can get it so I wanted to wait until I could
find a deal so I just taped off this area because I was spreading it and I realized I was about to
get more spackle on the paint that I spent all that time doing so I just made sure to use some
painter's tape and protect the area right beneath so I there's like so many ways you can do this
a cake tip I looked into that they were a bit expensive so I just decided to use a popsicle
stick and that was something I already had on hand and I feel like it works well you're not
going to get that you know fresh whipped cream look necessarily but you can definitely try your
best to spread it and make it look like that and I did keep the hole at the top of this in case I do
want to turn this into a sign later or you know it can just sit on on your shelf but unless you
you know if you want it to be a wall hanging sign later then you can do that as well so once you're
done doing all that then I just took the paint off right away as soon as that was done and then I
knew I needed some kind of like cinnamon topper but we didn't have any bottles of cinnamon so I
just grabbed this like bottle of Ceylon cinnamon so I just used a little mixing spoon to spread
this and then I just turned it over and shook off all the excess cinnamon I'm so rough you guys
I was so worried I was like gonna break off the spackle so this is a large Dollar Tree Boba straw
and it was the only straw that I could find so I'm like what if I just paint it black and just
you know good enough and it actually works so that is exactly where I wanted to put this
and so we're literally just gonna hot glue this to the back and surprisingly it stayed but not
only that I did also like go back and like reinforce it and because I felt like the first
time just was not enough glue and like I used so much hot glue on this to make sure it would stay
it popped it like crackled so once it's enough hot glue you're all done and I love the pumpkin
latte craft I made this fall season so thank you guys so much for watching you guys so if you want
