I've got six summer fashion trends for 2022,
I think deserve some attention from all of us.
Hopefully one or two will resonate with you,
especially if you have an event
or somewhere fancy to go this summer.
These are just some fun ones I've noticed
that have popped up, and let's get started.
The first trend I wanna mention is sequins and sparkle
in the summertime, even during the day.
Normally we reserve sequins and sparkle and all that
for like fall, winter, New Year's.
So how are you gonna wear this in the summertime
without looking like you're about to join the circus?
Well, one of the ways you can do this is to just add it,
not add it, but wear it in the bottom half of your body.
I feel like when you put sequins or sparkle in a skirt
or somewhere in the bottom half
and pair it with something very basic,
very toned down on top, it doesn't look so flashy.
Speaking of sequins on the bottom,
I am going to see Elton John this summer
and I have decided that I need to wear sequins
or some kind of sparkle to the concert.
So now I have just ordered this skirt.
I'll show you.
It's got the disco sequins on it
and I'm gonna pair it with a white button-down.
In my head, it sounds really great.
Hopefully it'll work out,
but I feel like it'll be a really cute look.
I'll be comfortable up top,
but I'll have the sequin skirt on.
Okay, this next one.
Should I go ahead and talk about this one?
I feel like I'm just gonna go ahead and talk about it.
I'm gonna put this one that is like kind of a stem,
a little sister, cousin, doesn't make sense,
a sister to the rich mom aesthetic
and that is the coastal grandma.
Have you heard of the coastal grandma aesthetic?
Well, now we're not actually talking about any grandmother
who lives at the beach.
What are we talking about here?
This is your grandmother who lives in the Hamptons
and she's been married thrice, not married anymore,
and she only wears nudes and beiges
and very easy, timeless, classic items
that all go together.
Maybe some navy stripes.
She never worries about stains
because she's only drinking Sauvignon Blanc or rosé
or maybe some vodka,
so she really doesn't have to worry
or stress herself out about what to wear
because everything in her closet is timeless.
It all goes together.
It's all beige and nudes and taupes.
Think Diane Keaton in Something's Gotta Give.
Do you feel this?
Does anyone have a grandmother like this?
I don't, but anyway, it's that aesthetic
and anybody can wear this, obviously.
The thing I love about this
is that it's so simple and easy.
If you're just stressed out beyond imagination
and you're like, oh my God, I cannot.
This fashion thing just drives me crazy.
I just need to look good,
but I got a million other things to worry about,
Coastal Grandma is your answer.
Everything beige and taupe and browns and rust colors,
classic styles all the way, good solid basics,
some nice sunglasses, some gold jewelry,
and you're set.
You really don't ever have to worry
about what to wear ever again.
We're gonna go way over here.
We were just over there with Coastal Grandma.
We're gonna go way over that way with the color pink.
Now, I'm shocked that I'm even mentioning this
as a trend in the video
because I'm just not a big pink fan.
I've never really thought it looked good on me.
I feel like it's something my six-year-old wears.
I've just never really been a big fan.
However, it's a big trend.
Bold colors are a big trend.
One of those bold colors is hot pink.
I've seen enough styles in it now
where I actually really kind of like it.
Not all the time,
but it is something I have found myself
gravitating towards.
I did buy myself two pink items.
One is an off-shoulder top,
which I've worn a lot with just white bottoms.
I feel like it's just a really cute summer top,
and the other one was just a tank top I bought
just to wear to the beach,
but I kind of like the color,
and to be honest, it's kind of a fun deviation
from the colors I normally gravitate towards.
Do you even like pink?
How do you feel about pink?
Let me know.
This next summer trend is not new,
but I just feel like it needs some attention
because there's a lot of really cute ones out there,
and it's the two-piece sets,
and not just regular old two-piece sets
like lounge sets or something,
but like blazer two-piece shorts set.
Now, me wearing a blazer in the summertime,
I would be sweating to the oldies,
but if the blazer shorts outfit,
which is super cute, does not work out for you
and your climate either,
just the regular two-piece sets
that are in some kind of bold color,
some kind of pastel or beautiful blue or green,
they're really all over the place
in lots of different fabrics,
lots of different styles,
and I just really, really love this trend.
It's also an easy outfit to put on
when you feel like you have nothing to wear.
I'm gonna do a video next week
called five-minute outfits.
It'll probably include this one,
but it's just outfits
that you can put together really quickly,
so if that is something that interests you,
hit the subscribe button if you haven't.
I have not said that in a long time.
By the way, I am gonna link some things below
that I have found that I think are really exciting
in the description box
if you wanna start shopping any of these trends.
The next summer trend I've been seeing,
and I really like it,
and I just never thought I would be saying this
for the summertime,
but it's textures on your clothes.
So this is why I like this trend.
We don't wanna wear a lot of clothes in the summertime
because we're burning up, right?
But when you add just a little bit of texture
to that basic top or basic outfit,
it creates such an interesting look
without really trying too hard
or adding a lot of layers.
I love this in dresses,
like if you have somewhere to go
where you need to be a little bit dressed up,
but you know it's gonna be hot
and you wanna wear a dress,
you could find something that's more minimal,
but it has a little bit of a texture to it,
which looks a little bit more interesting
than just your basic solid fabric,
in my opinion, of course.
Fringe has been a big trend.
I feel like it really never goes out of style,
and I've always said
you really have to be careful with fringe
because, oh my goodness,
you sit down in a car and shut the door
and your fringe is hanging out the side
or going to the bathroom.
I mean, all these things crop up in my head
when I think about wearing fringe.
However, if I had an event to go to,
and I know I'm gonna be standing the whole time
for a couple of hours,
somewhere where I wanna look really nice
and just kind of fashionable,
I really love these fringe dresses
and the fringe skirts.
One little aside here,
if you do like the fringe look,
I feel like the fringe that's the longer fringe,
not really the short little bitty ones,
is kind of what's on trend right now.
The little small ones
looks kind of like you're dressing like a flapper.
You remember the flappers from the 1920s?
Remember that.
Nobody remembers those
because y'all weren't alive during that time.
Anyway, you know what I'm talking about,
but that's kind of a flapper fringe.
We're talking more like the long,
beautiful, graceful fringe
that, again, will get probably caught up in your car,
door, and in the toilet,
so just be careful,
but it is a beautiful look.
Wow, I just sneezed like 17 times.
Anyway, the next trend,
and now we're gonna get into,
it's like slightly more casual now.
The next trend I want to mention are sarong skirts.
Okay, so we know that maxi length is back.
It's a big trend for summer.
I really think it's gonna go into fall as well,
but it's a big trend that's back,
but in the summertime and the heat and humidity
as we discussed in our last video,
if you wear just a full-on maxi skirt
that goes down to your feet
with no slit in it or anything,
you can get really, really hot,
so I love the ones with a slit in it or something,
but these sarong skirts
really kill two birds with one stone.
You have a maxi skirt kind of length-ish,
but it's kind of a sarong look,
so you've got lots of airflow coming into your skirt
so you're not sweating to death on your legs
and all the other things that are attached to your legs,
if you know what I mean,
but I love it as just a summer look,
an everyday look,
maybe even like a early dinner look
or something like that,
something to bring on a vacation.
You can put it with a bikini top.
You could put it over a one-piece bathing suit
that you have to make that an outfit.
You can put it with a basic tank top.
There's a lot of ways you can style this kind of skirt.
This was a wide variety of summer trends
that I've shared with you.
There's no way you like all of them.
No way.
Tell me which ones you really, really like
or the ones you really, really don't like
or the ones that you really thought you wouldn't like,
but now you kind of do
and you kind of might go look and try some of them out.
I would love to know.
Also, if you made it this far in the video
and are wondering why I'm only using this hand
because you know I talk with my hands,
it's because my nails look like this.
You know you see those TikToks
where it shows like a beautiful nursery
and everything's put together,
but then they show what's behind them
and it's like a complete mess.
That's today because my nails need to be done
and I just have not had time to do them.
No polish, polish, and it's not even very,
I really need to get them done.
Anyway, that's my backstory here.
If you made it this far,
comment below and let me know what color your nails are
so I know you made it this far
and you witnessed my real life stuff.
Okay, that's it.
I hope you like this video.
I hope you got some good ideas from it.
Let me know what you think.
As always, give it a thumbs up if you liked it
or down if you did not.
Consider subscribing if you have not already
and I will see you next time.
