to study the preparatory models of some important sculptures of Bartolini.
We are carrying out photographic investigations
that help us in particular to map organic substances
such as fixative and detachment oils
typical of the techniques used for the execution of plaster manufactures
but also to map substances perhaps used during restorations.
After an intense work of conservation and re-arrangement of the Gipsoteca
as well as the digitization of the complete collection
and the online exhibition of the archive of the artist Lorenzo Bartolini
now available to everyone
I am very happy with this project
that helps us to better understand the technical and scientific method used by the artist
a highly innovative project with international experts
that we were able to put together with the Swiss-Italian SUPSI and the SABAP here in Firenze
therefore a highly innovative project
to learn more about the collections of this museum for future studies and research.
It is a project that involves a series of diagnostic investigations
that start from the reading of the surface
to identify the traces of the sculptor's work on the plaster
and then to deepen the study through radiographic recordings
that will allow us to understand the internal structure
the armor and the conjunction of the various parts of the model
and then we will also move on to the comparison
through 3D scans between the model and the finished sculpture.
