There's a very large farmers market here every Sunday and I'm gonna go ahead and
check it out and search for some vegan gold. I have a lot of memories of
Hollywood growing up here in LA. In some ways it's changed a lot. In some ways it
hasn't changed at all. But one thing that's changed is there's a very large
farmers market here every Sunday and I'm gonna go ahead and check it out and
search for some vegan gold. So come along with me and we're gonna enjoy the vibes
of the Hollywood farmers market. The Cinerama Dome and this is a monument to
Hollywood. It's been dormant for the last, I would say, five years. Recently they're
going to be developed by Alamo Draft House. So the Cinerama Dome looks like it's
going to be alive again. And right across from it is a all-vegan place called Veggie
Grill. Okay, so I'm also here because there's a vendor who makes amazing food that I
haven't visited in a long time. Mort and Betty's. So I believe that Megan of
Mort and Betty's is here. Are oysters vegan? I don't think they are.
I love Lion's Mane, but you've got me curious. You want some of that coast? I've never seen it.
Dude, I mean I can give you a piece of Lion's Mane and coast you, and take it home with you when you like better if you want to do something like that. Perfect.
Let's do it, man. Love you, man. Man, love you, dude. Thanks for the coast.
Who are you going to save us today?
Voodoo Hand, Voodoo Hand, Voodoo Hand.
Sorry.
Interesting way to sample. They use some olive oil and pepper.
Habanero.
It's the cash app jumper thing because they, I guess, get the children to understand how important this brand is.
Anyway, I got some coconut cakes. They were five bucks at the Thai place.
Is it better than Trader Joe's? We'll see. Better than Trader Joe's.
Because they're not frozen. They're made fresh. Legit.
Kind of that Thai version of Able Skeebers.
She makes everything from scratch, and very innovative, yet super delicious, too.
Everything she does is awesome.
She also makes these loaded bagels that are really amazing. I recommend I get.
I would love for you to try the bagel, egg, and cheese because I don't think we had that on the menu when you came to Atwater.
What's the bacon?
It's mung shiitake.
And you make mung bean?
Yes. It's a mung bean egg. It has agua clava and mung bean and some other fun things.
Coolio.
If you want a sandwich, I would say the at one.
Okay, I'll try that.
I don't know. Everything looks so amazing.
Agua clava or focaccia.
We're going to do the focaccia.
Okay.
Sounds great.
We're starting out really good. Maybe this way.
Maybe this way.
Because we've got Mort and Betty in the background.
Nice.
Okay, thank you.
Bacon, egg, and cheese
with a spicy cashew cream cheese,
mung bean egg,
and shiitake mushroom bacon
on a homemade focaccia.
This is a great breakfast sandwich.
You know, you've got the
spiciness of the
cashew cream cheese.
The mung bean egg is
terrifically made.
A nice texture and flavor
from the shiitake bacon.
And of course, you know, I'm a
bread guy. I love the
freshly made
focaccia.
I've just got a potato knish.
Saving that for later.
Super dense.
Apple fritter.
I'm going to go ahead and try it.
I got a
seeded baguette
from Bub's and Grandma.
It's still warm.
It makes me want to just tear off
a piece and have at it, but
I've already had that massive
breakfast sandwich.
Okay, I'm going to look around. I'm thinking about
getting lion's mane
mushroom. Okay, I did it.
I bought a
lion's mane mushroom.
And it was a pretty
hefty one. It's like a pound.
So it was $20.
Probably the most I've spent on one mushroom
in my life.
I haven't gotten the fancy truffles.
Anyway, I want
to see if I can cook it into a steak.
I'm going to press it, so that will be an interesting
experiment.
And it was
a good experience. You know, I really enjoyed
chatting it up
with Megan and
looking at all her amazing
food. You know, what's amazing about what she
does is she has this real
completist vibe where it's like
her pop-up
is a deli.
And so she sells matzo ball
soup. And so
she has sweet and savory
things. She has baked goods.
She has all sorts of different
spreads.
I feel like her
pop-up has
some of the most items.
It's almost like
head-spinning. You go there and you don't even know
what to order because
her
table is like a whole deli
counter that just happens
to be entirely vegan.
And not only that, her food is amazing.
What she does is
super impressive.
Anyway, yeah. And then also I got
a baguette from Bubz
and Grandma, which is like
a bakery here in LA that makes
really good stuff. You know, I'm
kind of a carboholic.
So anyway, yeah. So it was a
very successful day
here in Hollywood.
I didn't meet any stars,
but
I met culinary stars.
So anyway, thanks
for watching. Like and subscribe. I'm trying
to build this channel.
And encourage me to make more content
like this. Thank you!
