I Took The Loneliest Cruise In America
Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe narrator begins \"The Loneliest Series\" with a voyage from Seattle to Alaska aboard the Norwegian Bliss, aiming to eventually reach the loneliest town in America. The journey blends the luxury of a modern cruise with the raw isolation of the Alaskan wilderness, featuring excursions in Sitka and reflections on human connection before transitioning to the next phase in Juneau.
Recently I heard about a cruise that sails through the middle of nowhere.
Where am I right now?
It travels through freezing waters into remote wilderness with no one around for hundreds
of miles.
And I'm going to take it, because I want to see what it's like and ultimately find out
can I still have a good time even if I'm in the middle of nowhere?
Wow, when most people take a cruise they head straight for the tropical waters of the Caribbean,
the Mediterranean, Hawaii.
I don't know why I said Hawaii like that.
My point is they go tropical, but not me.
Ladies and gentlemen, your boy's taking this cruise all the way to Alaska.
Hungry bears, big mountains, very lonely, and very, very far.
See right now we are docked in the great city of Seattle, but in a few short hours we're
going to be in the lonely, remote waters of Alaska.
We're more likely to see a bear here than a person.
It's adventure time my friends.
While I'm on board I want to look into four main areas.
The room, the food and dining, the excursions, and the activities.
But before I can get into any of that, first things first, I've got to find my room.
I'm just coming in here to drop my luggage off.
I'll give you guys a full tour of the room in just a little bit, but I think we're disembarking
and I want to check out more of the ship, so we'll be back soon.
Alright guys, that's Seattle way off behind me.
We have officially disembarked.
That means the journey is underway.
It looks like we've got some crazy weather coming.
Hopefully it passes us, but right now it looks like we're going directly towards it.
And it's just raining just a little bit.
It's so funny being on a cruise and wearing these kind of clothes.
Everyone's bundled up right now.
But why don't we take this opportunity to give you guys a little bit of a better picture
of what this ship looks like.
Let's do it.
The ship I'm sailing on is the Norwegian Bliss, and outside, despite it being cold, they have
not one heated waterslide, but two heated waterslides.
They have a gym that I probably won't be visiting, a nice buffet.
Each floor has one of these cool, like, massive iPad things that give you all the details
of everything happening.
Just look at how many restaurants there are, guys.
These are all the complimentary restaurants, and these are all the specialty restaurants.
I'm going to try to get a reservation at one of the nicer ones.
This is the observation lounge.
You have big windows with beautiful views in here, and you have some snacks.
Behind me here is the front of the ship.
This is where everybody hangs out.
It's called the observation lounge or observation deck, and it's a massive area where you can
just watch the front of the ship and look out at the open ocean.
It's pretty cool.
There's a casino on board, but I'm much more interested in the Norwegian Bliss Speedway.
Allegedly, this is the largest speedway track on any ship.
Look how much fun this guy's having.
Haircut on a cruise in the middle of nowhere?
Don't mind if I do.
My mic wasn't on for this shot, so you're going to have to, like, turn your volume up
really loud.
Okay, you ready?
Okay, turn it back down.
Turn it back down.
It's like a full-fledged shopping mall on board.
Jewelry and all.
I'm going to have to get a reservation at this place.
This is the center of the cruise.
It's never not insane to me that they're somehow able to just get this on a ship.
We are floating in the ocean right now.
This thing's crazy.
Shout out to all my engineers out there.
As we're headed for the Alaskan waters tomorrow, we're going to be spending a day at sea, and
so I've packed with me a list of all of the activities and restaurants that I want to
try while I'm on board this ship.
So my mission is to crank all these out before the cruise comes to an end.
So yeah.
Now please enjoy a brief intermission of me getting lost on my way to my room.
Now this is sped up, but imagine how long this actually took me at normal speed.
I know.
It's pretty crazy.
Well, you guys have seen the ship, and now it's time for you to see the room.
This cruise is a nice cruise.
I mean, I'm blown away by this room.
I got a beautiful bed.
Another bed right here, because why not, I guess.
Mirror, phone, flat screen TV.
Look at this.
Nice bathroom, shower.
Look at this view right now.
Are you kidding me right now?
It's brisk and cool outside.
Oh, I almost forgot.
We've got cabinets back here, so we have shelves right here, and then over here, we can put
all of our clothes, like, and everything.
Whoa!
Dude, what?
Surprise!
What's up, bro?
How did you get in here?
I just climbed aboard.
You climbed aboard.
I'm your younger brother, and you know I've always wanted to go on a cruise, and I just
feel like this would be a perfect opportunity for me to go on one of your cruise videos.
Bro, this isn't just a cruise video.
One second.
This is not just a regular cruise video.
Look at this.
What's that?
I'm not just going on the loneliest cruise in America.
I'm going on a journey to the loneliest town in America.
So the journey starts right now on this cruise that we're taking all the way from Seattle
to Alaska.
But that's just the beginning, because once we get to Alaska, the journey continues until
we reach the loneliest town in America.
I'm bringing these guys with me.
That is if you guys are down, of course, because what that means is I'm going to be uploading
every single week right here on this channel until I reach the loneliest town in America.
So, it's like a series?
The Loneliest Series.
This specific video and part of the journey is about the cruise though, so should we go
have some dinner?
Let's eat.
I'm hungry.
Our cruise continued north towards Alaska, and way off in the distance, we actually started
to see some mountains, which was really cool.
And on our way to dinner, we ran into one of you guys.
His name was Anthony.
Awesome.
What's your favorite part about going on a cruise?
The sunrises.
Dude, let's go.
Okay.
I always love getting to run into you guys out in the wild.
We went to one of the restaurants on board called Teppanyaki, and let me just say, I
was excited for a nice, peaceful, quiet dinner.
Alright bro, what do we rate this place?
I would give that meal, Teppanyaki, a 7 out of 10.
The hibachi chef was hilarious.
He was singing the whole time, and I feel like it just made the experience.
Totally agree.
Alright, time to go get some shut-eye because we got a big day tomorrow.
Let's go.
What do we have here?
Just a casual picture of an iceberg.
Not cool, cruise.
Before going to bed, I wanted to come and check it out out here.
It's chilly.
It is chilly out here, folks.
I guess that must mean one thing, which is that we are making it closer and closer to
Alaska.
Hey guys.
Day 2.
I feel like we're in the open ocean right now.
They just brought some coffee to our room.
You know what that means.
It's time for our daily café con Antonio.
Coffee with Antonio in Spanish.
Let's have some coffee.
I was rocking like a baby all night.
I slept so good.
It's cold and windy out here.
Visibility is starting to get real low too.
I think that means we're getting closer to Alaska.
Good morning everyone.
If you're watching this in the morning, I hope you're enjoying a nice cup of joe.
Slept impeccable last night.
And then just a few minutes ago, I'm pretty sure I saw some whales.
No way!
First sign of sea life already.
Look at where we are on the map.
I'll show you on my state of the art flat screen TV.
That's where we are now.
We're going all the way up here.
So, we're about to cross this stretch of sea.
I won't be able to see much land.
The waters are getting lonelier and lonelier.
Let me tell you the plan for today while we're at sea.
I want to complete my activity list.
But first, I'm going to shower.
I don't know what kind of shower tech this is, but it threw me off for a second.
I made my way up to the deck to try to find some food and then hopefully complete some of my activity list.
I hope you're enjoying the cruise adventure as much as I'm enjoying making it.
See, one of my goals for 2026 has been getting smarter with money.
And that's where the sponsor of this video comes in.
Chime.
See, I've been using their high yield savings account because it earns 3.75% APY with a qualifying direct deposit.
Most regular savings accounts are around 0.39%.
I also love that you can get 5% cash back on a category you spend money on already.
For me personally, I'd pick travel.
I'm constantly in the airports, it's on the move, filming random stuff.
And the Chime card comes with travel perks like airport lounges and a 24-7 travel concierge.
You guys all good?
With Chime, there's no monthly fees, no minimum balance requirements.
Your money is FDIC insured through Chime's bank partners and you can access it anytime.
So if 2026 is your financial reset year as well, I've got good news for you.

Thanks again to Chime for making this video and this series possible.
And let's get back to the cruise.
It's funny because on a normal cruise, there would be people lounging and sunbathing out in the pool.
But this is an Alaskan cruise and it's cold outside.
So everybody's kind of bundled up and just using this to get from one destination to the next.
The American diner is where we're going to be eating.
Before we completed our activity list, we got another coffee, some nachos, a milkshake, a burger,
and fueled up on all this complimentary food before heading to our first activity, the Speedway.
How is this on a cruise ship?
Hey look guys, it's Anthony from earlier. Let's go bro.
I stepped on the scale. I'm not telling any of you how much I weigh.
Threw on a ski mask and right before I was about to get in the cart,
it just started raining, so they shut the track down.
Update guys, literally every single activity is closed right now because it is raining slash sleeting.
And I guess that means we're slowly getting closer to Alaska.
So I'm going to try to figure out what to do next.
It's all just part of going on a cruise to Alaska, I guess.
How are you feeling?
I'm cold, but I'm vibing. It's so cozy on this ship.
Might have to hop in the bubble tub. I'm chilly up top, but I'm warm down here.
It's like 50 degrees outside, a little misty, a little rainy. Check it out.
It's so weird being on a cruise.
You can tell that we are getting more and more north, closer and closer to Alaska.
Because it's just getting mistier, it's getting colder,
and it feels kind of eerie if you think about the fact that I'm in a hot tub right now,
in the middle of the ocean, and I can't see anything past a couple hundred yards.
It's so crazy.
It's crazy dude.
I feel like the Flying Dutchman is getting ready to pull up here in just a minute.
Yo-ho!
Thieves and beggars!
Alright, that's enough of that.
Let's get going because I have a very important appointment.
It's haircut time.
It's weird because I'm in the haircut chair and I can feel the boat rocking back and forth.
I accidentally signed up for a full shave,
and I've never had another man shave my face before, so I made him promise me one thing.
Because the only thing that could get rid of this mustache is you guys.
See, I have a dream of hitting 1 million subscribers,
and since you all keep telling me I look 47 instead of 27, I've decided to make a deal with you.
If we hit 700,000 subscribers during this series, I'll shave the mustache.
If we hit 800,000, I'll dye my hair whatever color you choose.
And if we somehow hit 1 million, I'll get whatever tattoo the top comment picks on the final video of this series.
My fate is in your hands.
Please be delicate with it.
Fresh shave. About to go eat dinner.
But look how eerie it looks outside right now.
Now, I know there's no reason for me to be nervous at all right now,
but there's something about looking out into just straight mist,
being in the middle of the ocean,
that leaves a person feeling a little eerie.
I'm just going to say it. A little weird.
After that dramatic sequence, why don't we have some dinner, shall we?
All right, my friends. We have just sat down at one of the free restaurants on board.
It comes with a purchase of the ticket.
And by the grace of God, we've somehow scored the best seat in the house.
Check it out.
I mean, look at that view. That is something you don't get at your local McDonald's.
And trust me, I'm speaking from experience.
Carlos got some delicious steak. I got some delicious pasta.
And we had ourselves a good time.
Delicious dinner. Double thumbs up.
It's raining outside.
This is what 10 p.m. on a lonely cruise on the way to Alaska looks like.
It's pretty crazy.
It's misty outside. It's getting colder.
And tomorrow morning, we will wake up in Sitka, Alaska,
where I'm actually going to be able to get off the ship
and go out on an excursion to see how lonely we really are.
It's still just crazy to think about the fact that this cruise is just the beginning
of a much bigger journey to reach the loneliest town in America.
We gotta get along, so we better get a good night's rest.
And I'll see you guys in the morning.
Land ho, ladies and gentlemen.
And we're going out to explore it.
But first, you know what time it is.
Café Con Antonio. Let's go.
That right there is Alaska.
Pretty cool way to enjoy a cup of coffee.
As we neared the shore, it was crazy to see the contrast
between our warm, cozy room and the remote rainforest of Alaska.
Getting more and more north, these islands feel super isolated.
It's pretty cold outside as well.
We'd made it to Sitka,
and it was time to go on our hiking excursion.
Carlos decided he wanted to stay back for this one,
so I was hoping to make a friend.
Let's go hiking.
And hopefully, make a friend.
First time stepping off the cruise.
You guys on the hiking group?
Yeah, sounds good.
I'm Pat.
Pat, great to meet you.
I met my friend, and to solidify our friendship,
I gotta make him laugh.
I'm sure we'll run into somebody.
If not, we'll just find a trail in the woods.
For this excursion, I'm going to be hiking
miles into the wilderness,
exploring remote parts of Sitka, Alaska.
Hopefully, it'll give me a better glimpse
of just how remote we really are.
And it started with a van ride,
and continues on with a boat ride.
Going to get on a boat.
It's going to take us to the hike.
This is crazy.
Welcome aboard. This is the Coogan Express.
Take a seat, but don't take it with you.
Our guide was taking us several miles
across this body of water
to some remote wilderness,
where the plan was going to be to hike
several more miles to a campsite
and enjoy some lunch.
This kind of felt like being on a friend's
outdoor enclosed patio,
except I was on a boat,
and I was with a bunch of strangers.
Besides Pat. Pat's a real one.
Before I knew it, we had arrived,
we disembarked, and it was time to start
the hike into the wilderness.
Hike's off to a great start.
While that was our only way out of here,
and despite having one guide still with us,
I couldn't help but feel a little nervous
that if something happened all the way out here,
we were cooked.
This is insane.
It's wild how remote we are right now.
The only way to get to Sitka is through
plane or boat.
You can't drive here
from anywhere else.
And we're on the outskirts of that.
We're more likely to see a bear here
than a person.
The fact that this is a stop
on a cruise
is crazy.
I asked someone to take a video of me,
which always feels like a weird ask
because what do you do when someone's filming you?
You know what I mean?
This whole area is a rainforest
and literally everything is wet
and my camera is not waterproof
so I have to make sure it does not get wet.
After walking a little further,
we saw our first sign of bears.
See, they've been scratching all the way up there.
So that's what they do.
They come here and they scratch the trees
and it leaves their scent behind
and they can sniff and see who else
has been in the neighborhood.
Made it to the camp.
The camp was super cozy when we got there.
There was a fire going
and everyone just kind of sat down and chilled out.
Alright my friends,
we have just made it
to our campsite where we're going to be chilling
for a sec, having some lunch.
Met some great people along the way.
Excited to share a meal with them.
It's crazy that a typical cruise will just take you to a place like this.
And to think that this isn't even that remote
compared to the town I'm trying to ultimately get to
during this series. Crazy.
I'm going to go have some lunch with my new friends
and while I do, I'm going to keep on the lookout for two things.
Grizzly bears and Luke from the Outdoor Boys.
Let's do it.
It had only been a few hours
but this excursion was already awesome.
We all sat down by the fire
and hung out and told stories.
And then Pat came out by the pond with me
to take a video of me fishing
but then just accidentally ended up
taking a video of himself for a really long time.
Well done.
But eventually he flipped it around
and despite Pat's encouragement
I didn't catch anything besides seaweed.
But then I found something crazy
in the forest.
Guys, you gotta check out what I just found back here.
I found this sick hat
sitting under a tree.
Okay, I just lied to you. I designed this hat.
I didn't find it under a tree.
The hat says lonely won't last
and I remember a very specific time in my life
where I felt incredibly lonely
and it was so hard that there were times
where I just kind of felt hopeless.
But now I'm through that season of my life
and I'm on the other side of it.
I've got to experience just how special
and joy filled that life can be.
So I guess the message of this series
is that you may feel lonely just like I did
but you are not alone.
I'm with you, we're with you
and there are people who desperately need you
in their life so just keep going.
Like I said, I found these hats hidden in the forest.
If you align with that message and you want to rep it
there's a link in my description where you can get one.
Love you guys and always remember
you're not alone.
Alright, I'm going to go give this hat back to the man
in the forest that gave it to me and catch up with the crew.
It's crazy how remote this area is.
I know. You could pull into a little bay like this
and not see another person for
a long time.
Here comes our boat.
That's my boy Doug.
He took care of us.
There's Riley.
And there he was.
Two tons of metal flying at you at lightning speed.
It was Captain Riley.
It was a bittersweet goodbye to Pat
and all my other new friends but
the crews welcomed me with a dance
and a song which was kind of cool.
It made me feel really special.
And before I knew it we were leaving Sitka and headed even more north.
Goodbye Sitka.
Dinner time.
Wait, I was gone for like seven hours.
What was Carlos doing that whole time?
I'm getting a little cooped up.
I've been scrolling reels for about
45 minutes.
I gotta get out. I gotta go do something.
I'm getting a little hungry right now and I think it's time to go
get something to eat.
This is what it's like. Crab and chowder.
Let's go.
Alright, so this is what we're working with here.
Well, I'm glad he had fun I guess.
It's time for dinner at the nicest restaurant on board.
Considering this was our final night
I was really excited to just sit back
and enjoy a nice meal and let me tell you
it did not
disappoint my friends.
I would rank it a 10 out of 10.
Alright my friends,
it's time to go to bed
and in case you're wondering what around
10pm looks like
in Alaska, well
this is what it looks like.
I don't know if I'll ever get used to it but
goodnight.
I'll see you in the morning.
Good morning guys. It's 5.30 in the morning.
Carlos is asleep
but I think it's really pretty outside.
I can't believe this is what 5.30 in the morning
looks like. It feels lonely, I'll just say that.
And to think that this is just the beginning
of the journey is crazy.
I need to go wake Carlos up.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have made it
all the way to Juneau, Alaska.
I'm shocked.
It's so isolated, it's so
quiet here. There's our cruise ship
behind us. She's looking pretty.
This is officially as far as this cruise
is going to be taking us. From our room
to the food to the activities and the excursions
this thing was an incredible
experience. And in a normal video, we would
end it there and I'd say see you in the next one.
But this isn't a normal video, ladies and gentlemen.
This is just phase one of a much longer journey
to reach the loneliest town in America.
Let me look at my map real quick.
We can mark the cruise part off the list
but we're going much further north than Juneau, ladies
and gentlemen. We're about to hop on a flight and start
phase two of our journey to the loneliest town.
And I can't spoil much but what I can say is this
I hope you packed a tent
and a sleeping bag.
I didn't.
