Video Summary
AI GeneratedA solo camper tests a budget camouflage tent from Temu in a dense forest. While the tent provides basic shelter and some camouflage from specific angles, it suffers from severe condensation issues and an extremely cramped interior, despite being marketed as a two-person tent.
Tonight I'm camping alone in the woods with a camouflage tent that I found on Timu.
I want to see how well it blends in and if it actually lasts the night.
Let's get the adventure started shall we?
I've found this beautiful little forest.
I'm looking for a spot that's relatively flat, decent drainage, I've got no rain due overnight.
So fingers crossed I can find a nice little spot,
relatively sheltered because I don't know how decent my tent is yet.
So that's the criteria of the spot, still looking right now though.
This looks like a decent little spot.
It's not boggy, there are quite a lot of ferns around which normally attract ticks
so that is the only concern I've got as of right now.
But overall it looks like a decent little spot.
I still have the tags on it, very true to fashion.
Let's see what it's actually like.
I've got an inner, poles, pegs and an outer.
Right, let's get this thing up.
I'm just trying to decide which way to put it.
It's a very weird shape, it's very long and thin.
We're a little bit at a slant so I'm probably going to put my
head facing there, my feet down.
That way obviously it's a bit more comfortable overnight.
There are absolutely no instructions so I'm just going to eyeball it.
I'm thinking pegs, poles, over.
But it's never really that easy is it?
It's time for some poles.
I've pegged out the inner successfully.
That's pretty straightforward isn't it?
Just pegs in a hole.
Wow, they have a smell to them.
I don't even have the words to describe that smell but it's not a good one.
Anyway, we have, it seems to be a singular pole in lots of pieces.
It seems to be an X with a centre pole.
We're going to find out.
Poles are in, it's relatively sturdy.
Time for the outer.
Got two pegs left so hopefully I don't need extra.
Right, straight from the factory.
Got a door.
Ah, that's a problem.
Only one side of it has a door.
It's got the stitching for a door, just not the zip.
Maybe two doors was out of budget?
I don't know.
Just got little buckles.
It's pretty tight.
I guess one peg's here and one's in the front.
Also got a little window vent and it has got something to keep it open with.
Although it's not very effective.
Okay, it's up.
It's not the most camouflaged thing I've ever seen.
I'm gonna go walk just over there and see if I can actually see it.
Up close, there's a tent there.
It's not very camouflaged.
Against the terrain that I'm in, it's not the most camouflaged.
But maybe if I go over there, you won't be able to see it as much.
It's kind of passing the test from here, you know.
It is just through those trees.
See, I can barely see it.
I know it's there.
I know what I'm looking for.
It is blended in really nicely from this direction.
Front on, not so much.
Up close, not so much.
But from this angle, fair play.
It is pretty small in here, I will say.
It is very thin.
Right, let's start getting set up inside.
The sun has just about gone down.
It's a lot darker now because I'm in such a dense forest.
You just can't get enough light.
But that's okay.
We've got some very nice dinner tonight.
I'm very excited to start cooking.
But I'm going to make it nice and cosy inside first.
Well, as cosy as I can make it.
Right, this is the inside.
There's literally no room.
Not entirely sure if this is a one or a two man.
I'm pretty sure it was listed as a two.
I don't know what kind of humans are fitting in here.
Two of us.
But I think it'll do for just me.
I hope it'll do for just me.
I don't think I've got enough room for my bag and stuff.
But maybe I can just store that outside.
It is genuinely so small in here.
Oh my gosh.
It is literally the width of my mat.
I don't know where I read two man tent.
But all right.
Might be my fault.
It is tight in here.
I just about have enough room.
I'm gonna get my sleeping bag out.
I have officially retired my quilt for the season.
Getting a little bit too cold on nights for that now.
I've got my sleeping bag back out.
Smells a bit funky.
I've not used it for a few months.
It's float dance time!
We're gonna do a graceful float dance today.
Mainly because I don't really have enough room to go crazy.
Stick the pinky finger out.
It just doesn't work, does it?
Right then, we are officially set up in here.
I've got my Nemo Tenser all season sleeping bag.
That was difficult for me to get out.
I've got my Therm-a-Rest Questar sleeping bag.
That's rated down to minus 10 degrees Celsius comfort.
So I'm gonna be pretty toasty tonight.
And then, obviously, I've got to have a blanket.
This is the Exped Ultra pillow.
It's a bit soggy.
Something's leaking in my bag.
It is a pretty chilly night tonight.
Jeepers.
And that is exactly why I've got my blanket with me.
Okay, let's get cooking!
Well, change of plans.
I've just realised that I'm missing the gas connector for my stove.
So I can't actually use it.
Because without the gas, no gas, no fire, no fire, no cook.
So I don't have a lot of food.
I was very, very excited to cook tonight.
So I've got all the ingredients to make a very hearty, warm stew.
All of which need cooking.
I've also got pancakes for the morning.
All of which need cooking.
So that is a bit of an issue.
I have, however, got Maltesers.
So I'm gonna have Maltesers for dinner tonight.
And then we can figure out food in the morning.
But it's not stopping me.
It was stopping me for a minute.
I had a mental breakdown.
I cried in my tent for about 25 minutes.
I've had the flu recently.
So I've been very behind.
And I've just been trying to catch up and just haven't caught up.
So I'm definitely a bit down at the moment.
But I will be back up.
This is my first time out camping in over a week.
Which is very rare for me.
I was super excited about tonight.
I'm gutted.
We are not gonna let it stop us from testing this tent out.
This tent is very small.
And I don't know how it's gonna hold up overnight.
I mean, I'm currently at a slant like this and like this.
So it's like, I don't know.
I don't know.
Well, as of right now, the tent is relatively warm.
It's quite a small one.
So it's definitely keeping the heat in.
And I was surprised that it was actually two walls.
Not just a single wall.
So we've got the inner, which has actually given it some ventilation.
I'm not so sure about the amount of ventilation.
Because the actual fly sheet, the waterproof cover that goes over the top.
That is very close to the floor.
It is kind of exactly the right footprint.
But also at the same time, there's not a lot of room for the air to go out.
So maybe condensation will be an issue.
But as of right now, I'm pretty warm.
It's very tight in here.
Bit slanted.
And I got no dinner.
But it's not so bad.
Not awful.
We'll see in the morning though, won't we?
It's dinner time!
At least I've got Maltesers.
It could be worse.
It is quite damp in here, which was my main concern.
Because remember yesterday I said,
right, the ground sheet doesn't really have a gap.
So even though it's got an inner, which is ventilated,
the outer is kind of stopping it.
Which is definitely the problem.
The inside is moist.
Especially where my head's been, which is obviously where I'm breathing the most.
Oh gosh, I'm stuck.
Yeah, it is very wet in here.
Oh my gosh.
The entire outer is soaked from the inside.
Bear in mind, it did not rain whatsoever.
So that is purely condensation.
So even though we've got these two layers, this is pretty much useless.
All this is useless because there's just no gap.
There is one tiny vent in the back.
And that's the one that has the bit to peg it out with.
Not peg it out with, but it kind of sticks out with a Velcro tab.
And it's just, it's not very effective.
So yeah, condensation is definitely a problem in this tent.
I'm thinking if I deflate my mat, I'm going to have a bit more room.
It's very small as well.
It is exactly the width of my sleeping mat.
So there's not a lot of room.
I mean, there's enough room to sleep.
It's good for sleeping.
They've got four pockets in here, which are pretty useful.
I've got pretty much all of my stuff in the pockets.
So they're clearly useful.
I think because there's not much footprint, you really need the pockets.
Because there's quite a lot of headroom.
I mean, I can sit up in here.
I've got a lot of tents that I can't sit up in, but at least it's got the pockets.
That's not a bad thing.
Right, let's see how easy it is to pack down.
We've just got these buckle things holding it together.
And then a peg here, a buckle, four buckles and a couple of pegs and it's out.
Honestly, stop attacking me.
OK, the tent is away.
I think it probably took me about three or four minutes to take the tent down.
Stop tree.
So I'd say that was pretty good.
I mean, I was obviously fapping around with moving you around as well,
so probably could have got it down in like two minutes.
Right, well, I can't get the tent back in my bag.
But you know what?
It's not that bad.
For a tent from Timu, condensation was awful.
Fair play.
Maybe you could just use the inner.
Maybe you could use it in your back garden for the kids, that kind of thing.
I reckon it's not that bad.
I paid about 30 quid for this, but I know there were cheaper ones.
I just got the one with the better reviews.
It might not be the most camouflaged thing I've ever seen,
but it did survive the night.
So fair play for that.
And I will see you all on our next little adventure.
Thank you so much for watching.
Happy Roaming!
Bye!
