Oh, look at that. That looked very, very nasty. It was a very high boot. In fact, if you look
at that again, I just wonder whether this might have been a red card offense. Very, very high boot
indeed. Nasty. Literally giving blood in the cause there for old Sam Mewis. The only silver lining in
that is it gives the chance for the United States to regroup, gather themselves together. You saw
Mewis is back out there. Looks like there's an issue with Kelly O'Hara. I wonder if she got cut
due to blood. She's walking toward the sideline. We saw something on that last ball. Yeah,
there's no denying that. No denying that. She went up for a header against Wong Fei.
She pointed to her face. Didn't know if it was an elbow or something else or inadvertent.
Press for O'Hara and that's going to be the change. The way Kelly O'Hara is playing,
you would think if you had to make an educated guess, Catherine, it's because of
maybe what just happened there. That would be my guess. Kelly O'Hara has played an excellent game.
She's done exactly what Gillis wanted from her up and down the field. That's where she got hit at
the very end when she was coming down trying to head the ball. Looks like she headed a Chinese
player's head. Back of the head. I'm very interested in this. Gillis talked about how
Kelly O'Hara is a 90-minute player, but it has to be or it may be. I don't know if it has to be.
It may be. It's clear. Back by Owiny. Burns has some blood on her hand. Looks like
looting for the mouth, it looked like. She has to change the jersey. There's blood on it.
It's a veteran team, Allie, just like 2015. The average age 28, several players over 30.
Which usually means experienced squad and that's important going into these world events.
Again, those last three choices were all about experience. Morgan Bryan, Allie Krieger,
Allie Long, all making the roster of 23. Work on the lip area, I guess, at halftime. I thought
medicine in advance a little bit more, but maybe that wasn't the solution we were going to have.
On the U.S., an injury as well. Pugh is hurting too. So two players down, one on each side.
This one happened on the recovery effort from Pugh. Saw moments ago with Sullivan doing that
work back. I mean, you're seeing the U.S. put in the defensive effort starting at the top of the
pitch. Now, six subs are allowed in the game. We already were told that Andy Sullivan would more
than likely play just 45 minutes, but they were not expecting to have to make another change.
You can see the look on her face says it all. It's been a long season for these players,
doing double duty between club and country. Wambach, Rodriguez, Wambach storming through.
Goliath with Andrea Rosa. Wambach is still down. Wambach has not gotten up from that collision.
She came through with a lot of force. You see she collides with Andrea Rosa. Wambach is just using
her strength, trying to penetrate straight through there, trying to get a shot off, but a nice job by
Andrea Rosa to get her body in front. This is certainly not, as I said before, this is one of
the challenges that you have in playing a friendly just before leaving for a major tournament. You've
got to take the risk and have your top players on the field, but certainly having an injury to Abby
Wambach would change the United States future for that Olympics. Knee-to-knee contact.
It's pretty hard to tell. I mean, it looks like Abby was able to contact the ball right there,
and as she was following through, whether it's an ankle or shin or knee,
certainly something on her lower body, but you can't speculate at this point.
Well, again, Abby Wambach playing in her 127th
national team. Andrea Rosa, you just saw, she's up and she's limping it off,
but that's been one of the storylines for the United States. Who would partner up top?
And that's been really a competition between Natasha Kai and Amy Rodriguez,
at least in a starting role. You just hope, obviously, it's not too
serious that Abby Wambach's lost for any time as Natasha Kai is warming up.
Becky Sauerbrunn here has a problem. Well, it's obvious what it is. It's a
cut to the face, and it was that. Clash of heads again. Daniela van der Donk involved here,
jumping with Becky Sauerbrunn. They'll have to stop the flow of
blood before she's able to continue, assuming she is able to continue,
giving Jill Ellis an opportunity to eat this down. Now, I just want to make sure that everyone's
OK. I think she's got a bloody nose. Abby Ersig, the captain. Looks like she just gets it. Quick
jab. Ersig. Julie Johnston. Oh, that was a full ball collision. Alex Morgan and Kamika Forbes.
You could almost hear that from up here, Julie. The long ball from Julie Johnston,
and a full tilt collision between Morgan and Forbes.
You could see Alex Morgan's eyes are clearly on that ball coming out, as is Forbes.
