Hey everyone, it's Deja with Knit and Crochet Ever After,
and today we're talking about the Harmony Crochet Scarf.
This is one of my free, limited time only patterns.
If you are new to my channel,
I will release some of my patterns as free patterns forever.
Some will go straight to my Etsy
and Ravelry shop as a paid pattern forever.
Or will not.
I usually release them free eventually
but they start out as paid and then I have ones like this
where they are free in the beginning
and then they turn into a paid pattern.
Why do I do that? Because I'm rewarding
the people that are supporting me.
People that like you hopefully are subscribing
and hitting that notification bell so that you
You know it right when one of my videos, not one of my patterns.
Or both when my video is released and you can go watch it
and see is this one of those free limited time only patterns?
I better go download it right now before it becomes a paid pattern.
So I want to reward people
I want them to experience some of my paid patterns if they can't
afford them or if they're having trouble or if they you know
It's a rough time right now. So I'm trying to
Give back to those that are supporting me, so I want you
to definitely be able to get these for free for as long as you can,
but I do only keep them free for a limited time, and it always varies.
It could be a week or a month or whatever it may be.
If you see in the description that it says free, it's free.
If you see links to Etsy or Ravelry, the free period has ended.
Thank you.
This video tutorial will always be up, though,
so you can skip forward if you just need to watch that.
But I wanted to give you a heads up to be sure to subscribe
and hit the notification bell
if you want to get notified when these free patterns release.
Okay, let's get to the pattern.
So this is the Harmony scarf.
This one is made with Uru speckled singles.
In Undertow, which is a Knitcrate yarn,
I'll link to Knitcrate down below as well.
Knitcrate is a yarn subscription service.
And so this is, you definitely don't have to use the same yarn,
just get a fingering weight yarn, and the drapier, the better.
So alpaca, wool, I wonder...
I know some people have wool allergies.
Let me know if you have a wool allergy in the comments
if you are allergic to alpaca as well since it's two different animals.
I don't know if that
or if wool is just kind of the generalization of like any animal
fiber like it was just sheep
so let me know down below you know like angora
because those are bunnies um alpaca like let me know
if you're just allergic to
like any kind of animal fiber i'm very interested about that
because then i can make better suggestions going forward
but a fingering weight yarn and a four millimeter hook
which could be an F or a G depending on the maker
And this creates this beautiful kind of openwork lace pattern
and the pretty ruffle edging.
I just love how this turned out.
And it's, it could be, you know, you could go spring,
time, fall, winter, anything, depending
on how much you wrap it up.
So it could be like a little shawllet, you know,
it's, it's wide enough that it could kind
of drape around and, you know, hide the bat wings.
So.
It's it's got some good uses, then we're going to do the pattern repeat
and go over kind of how we do the edging
and you'll get the rest of the information in the pattern.
So be sure to download if you've gotten in that free pattern window
or head over to my Etsy or Ravelry shop to get the pattern.
So let's get into.
The repeat, and then we'll come back for a couple final thoughts.
Okay, so our Harmony scarf has a four-row repeat.
I've done one full repeat already, so we have row one,
then we have two, three, four, and five.
And it's pretty easy to remember, because it's really two rows.
We're just offsetting them, so I'll explain how you can kind
of memorize that easier after we've done them.
So our first row is row two,
so we chain one and we single crochet into that.
First, double crochet from the row below,
then we're going to do five double crochets
around this chain two spot that's below,
so very easy to work into, I love patterns like
that to count how many you're doing,
and that's pretty easy too, so we get five chains to
It's to make our little fan.
just kind of ends up turning it kind of like into a circle.
Then we have three double crochets from the row below.
We're just going to single crochet in that middle one.
So we'll skip one stitch and single crochet in the middle.
And then we repeat that. So we do five more
fans for a double crochet fan.
And then we do the same thing.
We have our three below.
We single crochet in.
We do this all the way across.
So you continue with your fans. Four, five.
And this is a really easy row
because you start with a single crochet and you
end with a double crochet. I got too much slack.
You start with a single crochet
and you end with
a single crochet.
So we do one more
And this was a turning chain over here
so I'm working into the third chain from the bottom
fan at the end.
which would be the top of like a double crochet
because we're counting it as a double crochet.
Normally I would do a tall chain for these chain threes
but because we're putting a border on it,
it doesn't really matter.
It's going to be completely covered so you can just do
chain threes or whatever you prefer.
So now we are on to row three and it's
Basically working into our fan. So you can see how we have three
Double crochets kind of in the middle of the fan.
So we need to get up so that we can work on these fans
So we're going to do four chains
So it's going to count and the three chains counts as a double crochet
So we're getting up to height for a double crochet
and we're doing one more chain so that we can skip this
Stitch and start working in the middle. So we're going
to do three double crochets in the middle three posts of our fan.
So you can look at it and here's one, two, three, four, five.
So I'm skipping that first one.
I'm working in that second one.
So one in each and then we will chain two
to create another pocket for our fan.
On the next row so we skip all of these and we're just going
to work into those three middle double crochets again
So it's not really at all. It's like three
But we're skipping those three and we're going to work into
the middle three so very easy to
Memorize this because it's very short stitches.
It's a very short pattern repeat.
You're kind of just looking at what you had before
Oops, I always hit my set
Those three in the three middles again,
almost there, chain two, again three in the middle.
So if you're looking at this,
you can look at the tops and look at the Vs and you say
one, two, three, I'm skipping those,
and then I'm going to work into this one and the next
two.
And then we mirror what we did at the very beginning,
which was a double crochet, chain
one.
So we're going to do that.
So we're going to chain one, and then we're going
to double crochet into that single crochet
This is the first crochet that we did on the row below.
So we got two rows down, two more to go.
Okay so now we're offsetting our fan again.
So this is kind of like a half spot here where we want to do
half a fan. So we're going to chain three
which is going to count as a double crochet.
Then we're going to do two more double crochets
and you can choose to do them
in that first stitch like I'm doing
or you can go around the chain one spot.
It's up to you. Either way will work whatever you like.
Then, it's going to pull it down because it's a little fan,
half fan, so we can single crochet again in that middle stitch.
So it's the same thing that we were doing on row two,
we just started it a little different because we're offsetting.
So now we're going to continue
to do the five double crochets in each chain two spot.
And then we'll mirror our beginning at our end. So we'll go over that.
Let's get over to the end here because I think you get this part.
Five double crochets, one single crochet.
Five double crochets, you get the picture.
So let's go meet up near the end
so you can see how we're going to finish that off.
Okay, here we are after our single crochet there
and now we've got just this spot left
So again, you can either work in the top of the chain three
Which we have chain three and a chain one
or you can work around the entire thing
I just like doing it in the chain three gives
a little bit more structure
So we're going to do three double crochets for our final half fan
Just like our beginning half fan
Alright, now just one more row to go.
So now we are doing our final repeat row,
and we have half fan, so we're going to do
a half kind of thing here.
So this is technically the middle of our fan,
which would be where this double crochet is,
so we're going to do two double crochets,
one, so a chain 3 that will count as this
This double crochet in this post,
and then a double crochet in our next stitch.
So those two count as like these two as we're working this way
so then we chain two we skip
those three stitches then we come
and do our double crochet in those middle three again.
So just looking at what you have below will remind
you what you need to do so this becomes very
simple to memorize because you're really doing the same thing over
and over it's just you're changing
The beginning and ending,
depending on the row that you're on, but it's the same thing
on the beginning and the end,
so you just have to, you know, look what you did.
We'll talk a little bit more about that after I finish this row
and we can look at it.
Almost there.
So remember, here we are at the end,
we did two double crochets to take up half of that
fan, as if we were, like, kind of,
we cut this fan in half, we'd have two here, so if
So if we cut this fan in half, we'd have two on this side.
So we're going to do two chains and then skip that one
and work into the second to last stitch and
then that chain three and that's our repeat.
Those four rows go over and over again until the pattern
tells you to stop and what
and which one to end with and then if you look at this when you're
working just look at what you have below
to figure out what you need to do next. So we just did our
Chain two rows so we know we have fans,
and this is a full fan, it's a big hole, so we
start with a single crochet.
If we have that half fan, that little tiny hole,
we would start with our three half fan
stitches.
Same with our...
Um, three posts into our fans, look at what's below.
Here's a full fan, so we're going to start with a chain four
so we can work into that
full fan.
Up here, we have half a fan,
so we start with a chain three and work right into that fan.
So it's really just reading what you have
so that you can see what you need to do next.
And I just love the way that this looks.
I love, like, the circle kind of effect that it gives.
So those are your four repeats.
Go check out your pattern to explain the rest of that.
Then the ruffle edging, let's talk about that.
Okay, so for our ruffle, ruffle, ruffle,
I can't say ruffled, our ruffled edge, it's...
Very kind of foolproof, like you can kind of go whichever way you want
because it ends up being ruffly. It's not super important,
you know, how many stitches you're putting in everywhere.
So you just kind of want to single crochet evenly.
You can start on a side or you can start on the row you just finished
and you'll just single crochet evenly around
as many rounds as the pattern calls for.
Make sure you're putting three single crochets in each corner.
Then the ruffled edging,
it's really just three single crochets in each and every stitch.
So that gives that ruffled edge.
So this is the most time consuming
because you're sitting there and putting three crochets.
Into every single stitch and it's gonna give that kind
of like ruffled look and if you have lots of yarn left over you can
Extend it because it's really gonna start eating yarn once you get
to this point when you get those three
So it gives you a few rounds of just plain single crochet
that once you hit that ruffle
It's gonna eat yarn like crazy,
but if you have a lot left over and you want the ruffle to be bigger
just continue don't do three again just
do single crochets like the other rows
or rounds after the after the ruffle round
um calls for just single crochet around and around
so you can really make it very kind of
I need to put some crochets on these because you can't really work
fluffy i guess you might want to say
Three in here. It doesn't really work that well.
So make sure that you're following the pattern,
but really that's all you're doing for the ruffle
It's super simple really cute.
I love the little ruffle edging on this. So that are our repeat reap
I really can't talk today
Our repeats and our ruffles
Let's go do some final thoughts
Okay, so that was the pattern repeat.
You'll get the rest of the information in that pattern,
so be sure that if you missed that free pattern window
that you are subscribing and hitting that
notification bell so that you will know
when the next one is released so you can download it
immediately. I hope you enjoyed this pattern.
