It's me, Julissa, and today I have another special guest with me.
It's weird calling my friends guests, but I guess you are.
The one, the only, Editor LLC, a.k.a. Tayshia, is here.
And there is not one mess that she cannot handle
and label and organize.
Thank you for coming over.
I'm so excited.
The first time, and the fact that she still says that she's so excited is amazing.
You guys kind of saw a bit of it when I did the house tour.
This is what Tayshia does.
She'll just label your whole situation and organize you and get you right.
Where she just organized my space in the bathroom,
and now she's going to tackle my closet.
I swear, Tayshia, it is the get ready once hurricane effect.
It's not a functional space yet.
What makes something a functional space?
What makes it functional is how you get dressed.
You're creating a mess because you're not finding things
based on how you would normally get dressed.
So you're going in there, you're like looking for everything,
like where is this place?
That's normally how I get dressed.
What do I need to wear?
What time is it?
I'm late.
Which is not good.
No.
So we're going to create a functional space
that's easy for you to manage, easy for you to keep organized.
How do I need to prepare myself?
How do I get ready to receive the transformation
that you're about to help me go on and ultimately, hopefully, maintain?
This is the first step.
So you actually reaching out and finding someone
to actually help you get to that point means
you're mentally ready to receive information.
Or that you recognize that you need a change.
You recognize you have a problem.
Recognition is the first step to a lot of things.
Exactly.
So you realize that you have a problem.
And in most cases, it's really not a big issue.
You just need someone to create a template for you so that you can go forward.
As you declutter your life, you are decluttering your brain
to create a mental capacity for you to actually go through with life
effortlessly.
Are you really ready?
I don't know where I'm at with my Botox, but I'm
sure my eyebrows are definitely reaching my hairline at this point.
What?
I was not prepared to hear that.
I upgraded my space, thinking that that's a solution.
But I've noticed the more space I have now, the more you acquire.
See?
And it's ruining my life.
I mean, I bought a pair of pants.
I think you were there when you came into my closet for like the third time.
And I still had these pants.
And I said, remember, I bought those because I
want to wear them in St. Tropez.
And you were like, when did you go to St. Tropez?
I said, I've never been to St. Tropez.
But I have plans.
I visualize my plans.
Isn't it about manifestation?
Yeah, but after three years, if it doesn't happen, then awesomers.
Yeah.
It's time to let it go.
You're a woman of many movements.
St. Tropez goals.
You are doing red carpets.
However, you do have a day-to-day life.
So we need to figure out how to encompass that in your closet.
And then I have the dumbest clothes for auditions.
If I need to be a teacher, a janitor, a police officer, like,
that's in my closet too.
We got rid of a lot during your last edit of those things.
Because those are like little cheapy things that can come and go.
Like, you don't need to house that in your closet.
But I don't want to have to rush out to go buy those things.
Because nine times out of 10, I get an audition last minute.
I need to have the uniform on deck.
Very true.
Which is great, because this closet that she has in her home now
is a custom closet, so it has sections in it.
You have at least five departments within your closet
that we can definitely dedicate to different aspects of your life,
being that you have so many different functions that you go to.
Show me.
Where are these departments you speak of?
Because I don't see them.
What?
Oh my gosh.
Let's go.
Let's go to the closet.
Bye.
I'm telling you, Tayshia, it's getting out of hand.
Luba.
Why are you still here?
It's my episode.
Can I help you guys?
Can you help me with a caption?
Listen, I said I will edit your photos, and you would give me captions.
That's the agreement.
Can we edit your closet?
Let's do that.
Bye-bye.
Magic hour.
That's the caption.
Come on.
Can we edit her photo?
Julissa, what happened, honey?
I don't know, mija.
Things went left.
This is a little crazy.
I'm not going to lie.
It's a little crazy.
You do see what I mean by you have all these sections, right?
This is a section.
So you have one, two, three, four, five sections in here.
So technically, you can have five different occasions in your closet.
It started off that way.
It started off with all of my evening black clothing here.
And then it trickled into evening colorful.
Then it trickled into daytime colorful, but still for events and fancy.
And then it trickled into the hot mess that it is now.
I don't know.
You know what the issue is right off the bat?
What's that?
How often do you go to strictly evening events?
Not often anymore.
So that should never be the first thing in your closet
if it's the last thing that you're going to do.
In the beginning part of your closet, you want more grab-and-go things.
So if you're doing mostly day activities for the most part of your life,
then that should be in the beginning of your closet
so that you can grab it, get dressed, and go.
Well, I think it was put here because you see this part of the closet
allows you to put gowns and evening wear.
So this is a custom closet.
So all custom closets come with little brackets.
Yeah, I definitely had those brackets.
Oh, here.
I knew I found it.
I knew I had it somewhere.
I found a bracket.
So they come off.
Boom, squid game.
Yeah.
I just started watching that, by the way.
I haven't even seen it, but I imagine that's what they do.
Is that what they do?
Kind of, but not really.
Oh, OK.
I don't know.
I found a bracket.
But how many points do I get?
Oh, you really need to watch it, then,
because it's nothing like what you're thinking right now.
But this is going to be a game, so hopefully I make it out alive in here.
I have a lot going on.
This closet, the longer I stand in it, is a reflection of that, for sure.
No, it's not as bad as I made it seem.
But you did mention that you had a system in place.
Well, you thought you had a system in place, which is great,
because that means you're mentally prepared and you're ready to manage.
I love system.
I love routine.
One of my favorite things is booking a show
that tells me exactly what my schedule is.
If I was an artist, a musician, I think touring would probably be
the best part about my life because you can tell me everything is scheduled.
Yes. Yeah.
I'm still spontaneous at the same time,
but I like, I crave structure.
So we're going to create that in your closet based on your current lifestyle.
So everyone thinks like, oh, you're organizing,
you do it the same way for everyone's closet.
No, I literally organize everyone's closet differently
because I do it based on their lifestyle.
How do you organize your closet?
I would love to try the most minimum amount of items.
You want to live minimal.
I challenge you.
Five seconds, five items.
Ready? Set. Go!
And you sure this is not Swiss?
Two. Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
Wait, wait, wait, wait.
Ah!
That's only three.
No, it's not.
Five! Oh, my gosh.
Because two words are on one hanger.
Yes.
And that is a problem if two things were on one hanger.
We're going to solve that also.
OK, let me explain.
This dress I got when I went to Curacao.
I love buying local things and handmade things
and supporting local artists.
Which is great.
When I'm on vacation.
However, you didn't wear it.
This is something you wear there and get rid of it.
And I don't know what carnival I thought I was going to attend,
but clearly they never sent me the memo to come back for it.
Oh, my gosh. That's so cute, though.
But that's probably something that you buy in the town,
you wear in the town, and then-
And then leave it behind?
Why not?
Because it's $239.
That's why not.
That was U.S. dollars?
I think so.
If you could spend $239 on a dress,
she's paying for my service.
I'm just telling you.
Well, if that's the case, then it's gone.
All right, bye-bye.
But don't treat it like that.
This is handmade.
You know what?
We're treating it like this.
However, we are going to donate it.
OK, but can you donate it with the stones still attached?
It will be.
Julie, the closet's clean.
Yeah, don't get it twisted.
Unorganized and dirty, very different.
All right, what are the other ones we're getting rid of?
You know what I do like, which is a plus for your closet?
All of your hangers already match.
So that's one mental thing
that people don't realize in their closet.
If you have four different types of hangers
within your closet, it's already mentally draining.
Kind of like it doesn't have equal value,
each piece anymore, if that makes sense.
What do I do with this?
It was a moment in, I mean, a very special moment.
It was Dominican Day at Dodger Stadium,
and I threw the first pitch.
Oh, that's awesome.
It's custom, and it's a momentum.
Creating a box of memories, it's probably the safest way
to go when it comes to pieces like this.
But shouldn't this be displayed?
Do you really want to frame that or display it?
You want to keep it because you love the memory, yes?
I mean, I think I should.
It's brand new.
I only wore it once.
So this is, you think you should keep it,
or you want to keep it?
You know what?
I should give it to my dad.
Great.
The reason why I challenge you is because you said
that you think you should.
So you think, and you should.
Those are two things that are kind of like contradictory.
They're like, I don't really know.
So if you don't really know, that means it's probably a no.
Dad, this is for you.
I don't know if it's going to fit.
No offense, but maybe he would want to frame that because he's
You know?
We're getting rid of this one, too.
Just kidding.
How about pieces that are statement pieces?
So this fabulous statement piece,
I mean, it's designer at that.
But I already Instagrammed it.
And I was thinking I'll hold on to it
because I can wear it when I go on a vacation somewhere,
you know, when that is still going to be a moment.
Another thing.
This, I love this top.
It's fabulous.
I wore it for my birthday.
And it's just one of those that, what
do I do with it now?
Are you going to wear it again?
Probably not, because you took a photo on it, right?
Probably not, because it was such a statement.
Not because I took a photo in it.
Remixing outfits is always the better option.
But if you don't have the goals or the visions
to want to remix it, then sell it.
This is fabulous.
I'm sorry.
This is, I just haven't worn it again.
Last time I wore this, besides now, is, um.
How many years?
I wore this for my birthday, 2020.
I would keep it.
You know, that wasn't that long ago.
But when is the last time you wore this?
Maybe about a year and a half.
All right.
So these are things where I would say,
keep it in your closet.
OK, how about this?
So it's a twofer.
It's a two-piece.
It's really cute.
I have not seen this in your closet before.
It's basically like a fembot.
Yeah, oh, that's so cute.
It can also, like, double as a Halloween costume.
It can.
I love how you're just laughing from that diaphragm.
So funny.
I love it.
Love, love, love.
And you have not worn that yet, have you?
I did wear it.
You did?
For Instagram.
Are you the type of, because you are a celebrity,
if I have to remind you, you are a celebrity.
I do have a lot of clients who are like,
oh, I post that on Instagram.
Rid of it.
Get rid of it.
You don't mind that.
If you wear it, you'll still keep it and wear it again?
Yeah, this one I archived, actually.
So we'll keep that.
I know you're keeping this just for, like, memory's sake.
Well, I'm keeping this because the day I have a daughter,
I would love for her to have an Herve Leger.
This will be perfect.
You don't necessarily need it to hang in your closet
because all you're doing is creating clutter with this
because you know you're not going to wear it.
The shoes that I wore for my Republica launch.
Oh, I love those.
Girl, you can have them.
This is the perks of being an editor.
I'm like, yeah, get rid of them.
They're not good.
And then I take them.
No, honestly, I just got the feeling on my third toe
on my left foot after wearing these.
And that was how many months ago?
These things hurt.
So do you not want to sell them?
Look, barely worn.
Yeah, barely worn.
I wore them that one time, and my feet are still recovering.
But Paul, our producer, said that I should keep them
because they are a memory.
No.
A momentum.
You don't need to keep them.
You know it's for memory?
Republica.
And everyone out there buying it.
That's the memory.
Oh, I like that memory.
Please go.
I can't wait for your seat.
Girl, don't be editing to where I end up
with just panties up in here.
No, you're going to have a beautiful closet.
I can't wait for you guys to see either.
Bye.
All right, Tayshia's done with my closet.
So are you ready to check it out with me?
Are you ready?
Let's see.
Oh, wow.
I can already tell the difference.
There isn't any articles of clothing on the floor.
Wow.
What a difference.
The people know what you did.
So we're just about finished in here, and it was so much fun.
You mean it's not done?
It was not as bad as you thought it was.
So for your tops and your bottoms,
I kept it mostly by color.
Most of your pieces in here can go from day to night.
So it was easy to just do it by color versus by function
or social activity.
Your dresses, we separate it from formal to casual day.
So this should help you get dressed a little bit quicker
with less mess.
By the way, you guys, I'm filming this for you
if you haven't figured it out.
You had so many matching pieces, as it's on a trend right now,
matching pieces meaning like a hookup.
So that's what we did for you.
We created one session.
Hookup is my clothing these days.
We did one section where you had your matching tops and bottoms
just so that it's easy, especially
if you want to just like throw on something very quickly
and go.
So this is that go-to.
There's the top, Liz.
I told you I had the top.
You'll be able to find so many things that you
were looking for in the past.
So much easier now because it's by category and or by color.
We also created a cold weather section for you.
We pulled together all your sneakers
so that they're on the top level.
Wow.
Hat section.
The transformation is real.
I feel like I'm in a department store.
This is amazing.
I have my denim.
Then it goes into skirts, shorts, sweatpants, boots
down there.
I've got my heels over here.
She really laid them out so beautifully
that I really feel as if now I can have fun shopping
basically in my own closet.
I hope you guys love my closet makeover as much as I do.
And I hope it makes you think about what space in your life
are you walking into that feels cluttered, overwhelming,
and what can you do about it to switch up your mood.
I hope you guys love it.
Thank you for watching.
