Welcome to Bangkok, Thailand. We know that this is going to be a major jump in our timeline,
but we were recapping over Christmas dinner what we enjoyed about 2022, and we just got
to thinking we wanted to share all of our highlights, favorite moments, favorite food
with all of you. So here is our top about 15 moments from this past year, half of which you
have not actually seen yet. We're like three months behind in all of our editing, so we've
a lot in the last three months. A lot of things that we really enjoyed and we're really excited
to show you. Not surprisingly, our list actually started with some of our favorite food or desserts
that we've had throughout the past year. Our favorite meal hands down is Zagreb, Croatia.
Wow, there's a lot going on here. We've gone back twice now, and we're probably going to go
back a third time because we're going to Croatia in just a couple of months. Oh, it smells so good.
It tastes even better. It just makes my heart happy. That restaurant, still don't know how to
pronounce it. Our second favorite meal is easily the potato pancakes with goulash in Krakow, Poland.
This is one of the best things I've ever had. And then our two favorite desserts is pastel de nada
in Portugal in Lisbon. Wow, you have to get them fresh and hot. They're just not the same when
they've been sitting in a glass case for even 20 minutes or an hour. That is so good. The crispy
outside is amazing. Got a nice warm inside. That is so good. Look at that. I don't even like custard
and it is like my favorite dessert throughout the entire world. Our other favorite dessert is
trufajia in Bosnia. Now we went back and got it twice. It's a poached apple with whipped cream
and walnuts. Oh, look at that face. That is one of the best desserts. It's very simple though.
Oh yeah, I'll remember that. Number two on our list of highlights is our hiking that we
accomplished in Sao Miguel and Madeira. Either island, doesn't matter which one, both were
fantastic. I'm speechless. That's insane. Very different and very unique, but we would recommend
both. We couldn't decide, that's why they're both on this list. We just love the islands in general.
Number three on our list is the entire country of Turkey.
Five minutes in and the consensus is this city has good vibes. We loved every minute of it. We
were there for three months. It's beautiful. There's so much to see and we'd love to go back
because we didn't see everything that we wanted to. Our favorite moment while in Turkey is going
to see Gokbekli Tepe. I just never thought we'd ever be here. Nathan's geeking out. It's one of
places that we never thought that we'd ever get to go to. It seems so far away and we finally
made it. It is the highlight of our trip and one of the most fulfilling places that we had been.
I'm not sure any place could top it to be honest. This will forever be the top archaeological site
we've ever seen. It's not so much what they look like, but what it all represents. Number four is
getting naked with locals in Helsinki, Finland. Specifically the sauna experience. Definitely one
of my most uncomfortable, but memorable moments and I would love to experience it again at some
point. Not only did it force us out of our comfort zone, but we felt like a local experience which
is what we're always looking for. I'm gonna run through there butt naked and record everything
that I can. Number five is our bathhouse experience in Tbilisi, Georgia. If you haven't seen this video
yet, it's coming up, but we split up these two things because it was two different experiences.
These bathhouses, other countries, they get it. I never thought that a spa experience would be
something that I would seek out in different places, but especially after Finland, we do.
I love you, baby.
Up next is making friends and milking sheep on a sheep farm in the middle of nowhere, Lithuania.
This place is so much more than we expected. You really can't plan for moments like this,
but I will never forget it and I cannot wait to hopefully return again someday. We
really lucked out and we're really happy that it happened. Staying at the sheep farm and having that
experience really opened us up to staying in airbnbs and other places outside of major cities
and hopefully just having a family experience and that was the first of many after that. Number seven
on our list is Kator, Montenegro. The first time we went to Montenegro, we didn't have the highest
view of it. How is this place not more popular? Well, Nathan, we saw the rest of it so far. I was
gonna say. It looked cool, but we were just like, eh, we don't really need to come back to Montenegro.
We were wrong. Kator was awesome. The coast of Montenegro in general is amazing, but Kator
had the fortress, it had the walled city that we've never really seen anywhere else, one of the coolest
old towns anywhere in Europe. Number eight is dog sitting in Switzerland. This one was my personal
favorite also because we pretty much stayed for free. Just visiting Switzerland in general, I never
thought that we would get the chance because it is so unaffordable, but the fact that we got to
stay there for free and play with a dog for an entire week, it was incredible. I don't want to
give away too much because that video is actually coming out in about two weeks, so subscribe and
stay tuned and you'll be able to see what we're talking about. It was such a local experience that
we couldn't have asked for anything better. Continuing on with our favorite local experiences,
number nine is Tetev, Armenia. We stayed with a local family in a village, they fed us, there was
no restaurants, there's no stores, so we were with this family the entire time. Simply seeing how other
people live in really remote places in the world, you can't even begin to describe it. It's something
you should experience for yourself and I'm so so grateful that we got to experience it and I hope
that our future video can even portray a fraction of that. Cheers with homemade vodka. Number 10
on our list happens to be our most wild and chaotic week throughout this entire past year
and that was our travel from Azerbaijan across the Caspian Sea and into Kazakhstan and the rest
of Central Asia. You guys, we're in the middle of the desert, like there's nothing. If you want to
see us get through Kazakhstan, subscribe and follow us. Yeah, the adventure continues. We took cargo ships,
trains, shared taxis, random people's cars. Where are we going? We're going to this guy. Okay. All kinds of
different ways to get from one place to another and we had no idea what was going on and had
nothing booked ahead of time the entire time that we were in Central Asia. We'd never traveled like
that. It was a first. It was so much fun. We learned a lot and we want to go back. Central Asia is so
underrated and I'm really excited to make those videos and post those. I had to pick a favorite
country of the nearly 50 we've been to, Uzbekistan. After we left Central Asia, we went straight to
Nepal where we celebrated Tihar for five straight days. We had a little celebration every day, learned
a lot, and the best part was being invited back to our host family's house to celebrate the last
two days. Number 12 was one of the biggest surprises throughout our entire year and that
was celebrating Chath Puja with a local family in India. We knew when we were going to Nepal that we
were going there for Tihar, but what we didn't know the following week when we entered India,
that there was another major celebration going on and thankfully our host invited us along
and we got to celebrate with her entire family the rising and setting of the sun.
You just can't plan for these moments and that's what makes it even more special.
Number 13 on our list is Cambodia, specifically the temples. We went to Phnom Penh which is also
awesome. I've never stayed anywhere like this before. Did I mention I was up $22 a night?
And then Siem Reap to see Angkor Wat. There's so many temples in that entire area and we loved
every single one for very different reasons. Nearing the end of our list, our 14th favorite
moment throughout this past year happened to be recently and that was sleeping in the middle of a
rice field in Langkawi, Malaysia. It was one of our best Airbnb finds with one of the best views
and if I could dream up a dream home, it's that place. It's really funny that we went to an island
that's famous for their beaches and we didn't see a single one of them because we just stayed in our
Airbnb. I don't know what we're doing here but I'm excited to be here. The views were too perfect
to pass up. We were outside sitting on our little porch as often as possible. In case you haven't
noticed the overall theme of this list and we didn't realize until we were saying this halfway
through is that most of this wouldn't have happened if we didn't meet families along the way.
So number 15 is just the people. The locals who took us in, the friends and family who came out
to visit us. Experiencing all of this not just with each other but all of the people also. We
wouldn't have been able to experience as many things if it weren't for others. Although this
didn't happen in 2022, it is a major highlight of our trip, Jordan. All of Jordan. In four days we
saw Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea, Amman, Jerash. It was a fun packed four days that we'll never forget.
That's a wrap on 2022. We wanted to make this video to give you a little sneak preview of what's
to come and to give you just a little bit more before we took a month-long break. We didn't end
up finishing this video before we took that break. I hope you didn't miss us too much.
We will actually be back on Monday. We'll see you on Monday.
