Dodger trade rumors are escalating, a new report reveals a new trade, also we get into the latest on how Clayton Kershaw feels after his best friend was cut from the team, we get into all that in this edition of Dodgers Digest, hey this is Mike Nelson, make sure to subscribe to the channel, I want to thank the 42% of you, the ones who are watching these videos who have already hit the sub button, but 57% of you, what's going on, hit that subscribe button we are the fastest growing dodger channel and of course the best one on youtube myself and brad j would bring you everyday dodger content and you're not going to find like this anywhere else make sure to hit that subscribe button and like this video tonight we're going to have a live post game here on the channel going to be taking your calls that's right your calls your participation is going to be needed tonight after hopefully a dodger win against the angels so make sure to tune in for that tonight um right here on the channel let's get right into the story of course the Dodgers could be making another trade with the Boston Red Sox we've seen the Dodgers and Red Sox partner up before this would not be the first time that the two teams uh completely opposite of each other right ones in the National League ones in the American League they're in completely different time zones but the Red Sox could be cutting ties with a young outfielder via a trade to the Dodgers this is an article that was posted uh yesterday on sports Illustrated Colin Kean uh the author Boston Los Angeles could soon become trade partners this summer um and i'm talking about um a pretty young outfielder you probably don't know who he is Ceddanne Rafaela is the outfielder that is in question here a potential trade between the Red Sox and Dodgers could be on the horizon the Red Sox have a surplus of outfield talent Duran Abreu have already solidified their spots and also you have Roman Anthony he was also trying to get in there Rafaela despite his uh you know he's a very good defensive outfielder he's not quite um the offensive hitter that I think that the Red Sox are looking for at this time in their lineup uh the Dodgers need another outfielder I mean that's exactly what we know that right I mean as Bleacher Report's Joel Roeder noted on Thursday even when Pax is enjoying a great season the Dodgers could definitely use another outfielder and that's of course with the injuries that Teoscar Hernandez going on the injury list with a groin strain, and Conforto, Outman, Taylor, all three are absolutely doing nothing for the Dodgers, right? I mean, that is honestly the fact, right? The three of these guys are really struggling. So the Dodgers really would like to go out and probably get another outfielder Rafaela coming into yesterday's games, was hitting .250 had a couple homers, 18 RBI, and had seven stolen bases, which is pretty good. The guy has speed, a young player, Ceddanne Rafaela, um but he's of course a very good defensive outfielder, 12 defensive runs saved in 2024 and he plays multiple positions including shortstop and second base making him a most likely I think a good fit for the Dodgers who you know I think would be interested in making a trade like that I think they they would be um you know interested in potentially making a deal for um a player like uh Ceddanne Rafaela right I think it's something that the Dodgers would be interested in um especially with the uh recent injuries that they have had um with their players I think it would make perfect sense but what does everybody think out there who would who would the Dodgers move on from right I mean I think that's the big question I mean you look at the list that it points out in the article you have Conforto, Outman and Taylor who which of those three players would the Red Sox really want right I don't think they would want Conforto I mean the guy is getting 17 million dollars I don't know the Red Sox want to add that to their payroll and Taylor same thing the guy's getting paid a lot of money would the Red Sox really be interested I think the guy that the Red Sox would be very interested in is James Outman a player that um you know had a very good rookie season a couple years back um and is still considered you know a player that I think people would be interested in right I mean I don't think he's been his career is still just getting started um I think he still has a lot to uh you know gain for sure I don't think uh I think there's still interest around the league for a player like James Outman so I think he would be the guy that Dodgers could trade for a player like Rafaela now do I think it happens though do you you actually sit down and think about this do you actually think that Dodgers would make this trade for a player that doesn't really have um you know a bat right I mean, he's very limited offensively. Would they actually make a trade like this? And I think that's where I think, you know, most likely in the grand scheme of things, they probably won't make this deal because it's just, you know, I think the Dodgers are all about, look at yesterday, look at all the runs they scored against the A's, right? 19 runs. I mean, they're all about the offense. And if Rafael is not going to, you know, hit, you know, at least 10 home runs, then I don't know how he finds a spot on this roster. I mean, everybody on this team can basically hit, right? even Ha-Sung Kim you've seen this guy can hit as well he's got a bat uh the rookie uh player for the Dodgers of course started the year in the minor leagues this guy can hit as well um so very interested to see what happens in the Dodgers definitely going to make a trade though I think one of these guys is going to be traded uh I don't know why Conforto and Taylor Taylor I don't think I think he's getting to the point where they're not able to trade this guy they're gonna just release him because he doesn't even play um and Conforto you know it's a big question mark with the salary that he's owed this year Outman is a is a convenient player for a team to trade for he's not getting paid much still on his rookie deal so i think teams would really be interested in a player like that but let's get into this next story Clayton Kershaw after i of course uh butchered and pressed the wrong button a little earlier um Clayton Kershaw sad after close teammate well his best buddy Austin Barnes was released uh for Dodgers top prospect Dalton Rushing who made his major league debut last night um I think this is like this is interesting what Clayton Kershaw said before uh yesterday's game against the A's because remember how there was speculation of whether Clayton Kershaw kind of signed off on this deal or if he was you know with it or not this kind of confirms that rumor that he had no idea what was happening he said I think everybody was surprised told this to the LA Times yeah it's sad Barnes is one of my best friends on the field on or off the field he won't find a guy that competes better than Austin Barnes he wants to win win more than anybody he's always found a way come up with some big moments for us throughout the year I think people forget he had he started a lot of playoff games winning a lot of games for us getting big knocks and of course he's talking about that 2020 run where he was starting especially when Kershaw was out there he started all those games so Kershaw remembers those days because yeah he was the pitcher that day when Barnes was behind the the plate I think everybody was surprised um you know basically kind of confirming the fact that um you know Clayton Kershaw had nothing to do with this happening right i mean they didn't they didn't go to kershaw and be like you know can we can we cut Barnes what do you think uh should we get rid of him obviously if they had done that Kershaw probably would have said no i mean this guy is my best buddy and he's my catcher why why are you getting rid of him right now i think obviously Kershaw went on to say that you know he agrees that Rushing does deserve a spot with the team it's not like he's saying Rushing doesn't belong here he belongs with the Dodgers right I mean there's no doubt about that but you know it is a little frustrating I think for for Kershaw because you know he wants I don't know if he's too happy because Barnes is this guy right now he's gonna have to you know we'll see who's his catcher now is it gonna be Will Smith is it gonna be Rushing it's a big question mark right this weekend we'll find out Saturday I think Kershaw's playing his first game right against the Angels if i'm not mistaken saturday night so interested to see what happens there but everybody you know with the Dodgers myself included it's sad to see Barnes go i know i know i saw the comments some people were saying that he's no longer contributing that you know he's uh i guess an out or whatever offensively he's not doing much but still i i like Austin Barnes i think he's a very good catcher i like i like his you know he's a very talented catcher i think behind the plate you know maybe he's not a very good offensive weapon but he's a very good catcher Austin Barnes and Dalton Rushing you know is a good catcher as well but you know doesn't have the same experience that Barnes has so definitely uh frustrating Kershaw's frustrated and I think a lot of guys on the team are as well but we wish nothing but the best to Austin Barnes as always make sure to subscribe and let's go Dodgers
