Welcome back to TMZ Sports. Babcock here with Luca, Dylan, and David Infert, Tawanda. Dana White's
Contender Series went down last night, Tuesday night, in Vegas, and this is awesome. This is
when people who strive, who dream of being UFC fighters, they will go and they will fight,
and if they are impressive enough, they will actually get awarded a contract. Yesterday's
fight was extra special for Dana White and a guy named Sal Everett, because Sal is a UFC employee
already, but he's not a fighter. He's essentially like a production assistant or an assistant for
Dana White. He'll go and, you know, make runs for him, get stuff, get coffee, whatever Dana might
need, and that's how he has worked at the UFC, but life is about to get very different, because he
goes in there, he wins, and he doesn't just win, but he wins very impressively with a knockout.
Look at that. I mean, just out, fight over, and then came the moment when Dana White made Sal's
dreams come true. We've had title fights in here. I don't know if it's ever been as loud as it was
tonight for your fight, and listen, everybody at the UFC loves you. You're a great kid. Forget
about the whole fighting and the contract. You are a great human being. This could not happen to a
better person. You have worked your way from the bottom up, and let me tell you what. All the
Boston guys were texting me on my phone tonight saying, your boy's in trouble. This guy's a real
guy. He's fighting tonight. He's in trouble, and you could not have won more impressively. It's
kind of weird, because you're already at the UFC, but Sal, welcome to the UFC. Very cool. I mean, if
you're an MMA fighter, the UFC is the top, and for him to get that moment was awesome. Yeah, no, this
was so sick. They're in like the apex, which has gotten bigger. There's a little bit more of a
crowd, but it was like electric when this guy won, because staff members are jumping up. Dana, he said
in the press conference, too. He was trying his best to, like, before the fight, not say anything,
be objective, but I mean, he can't hold it back. He loves you. I'll say, I've been in there,
Dylan. I went to an event in the apex. It's a very small, I mean, it's a really small place,
and you could imagine how loud it would be. And so many guys' lives have changed from this show.
Sean O'Malley is a big one. Anthony Wendt, who competed just a couple weeks ago, was on the
numbered card last weekend and had a huge knockout win, so this guy's life truly is about to change.
I mean, UFC has never been bigger ever, right? And I mean, we were just talking before this,
this, like, a story like this makes you want to go watch the contender series. Like, I mean,
seeing how happy Dana White was, like, containing is this, I mean, it looked like a proud dad kind
of in there. I mean, that was awesome. I am for sure going to be tuning in next week for the
finale of the show, so I'm excited. I love this. I'll say this. Dana White obviously has been
running the UFC for a really long time. He's done a lot of big things. I mean, he had a fight on the
White House lawn for Grind Out Loud, right? But you never will see him happier and sort of more
jazzed and excited than when he's given these contracts away. I really do think that the
contender series is his baby. It's the thing he cares about more than anything else, and yeah,
it was really cool. Now we get to watch Sal's career and see how he does. He looks like he's
a really talented fighter. Can he hack it when he's actually inside the promotion taking fights?
Stay tuned. We'll find out. Welcome to the UFC.
