Classical Chinese anecdote from Han Fei

Hello and today I'll be showing you a very famous anecdote and it's written by 韓非子 and it's called 自相矛盾 and let's start so 人有欲矛與盾者 人 so there's someone who's selling spears and shields 與其盾之間 so he praises the hardness of his shields 物莫能陷也 so nothing can penetrate it 我亦猶予其矛若 我亦 kind of means then 猶予 again he praises 其矛若 this time he praises his spears 矛之利 so the sharpness of my spears, this means sharp 物莫不陷也 there's nothing it can't penetrate 人應知曰 so people reply to him 以止之矛,陷止之盾 so using your spear to penetrate your shield 如何 what will happen? 其人忽能應也 so this person can't answer 以為不可陷之盾與無不陷之矛 to have this impenetrable shield and a spear that penetrates everything 為命不可兩立也 these two names cannot coexist so it's kind of like a logical game kind of a logical puzzle and that's it for today i'll see you next week
