We celebrated Griffin's 3rd birthday in Disneyland. They were obsessed with the "paint the night" parade.
We're going to be on that shuttle.
Yes, you have to Matt.
I'm only six.
You're only six?
Yeah, I'm only six.
No Griff, you're turning three.
All right, want to go downstairs and go to Disneyland?
Yeah.
Good morning.
It is seven o'clock in the morning and we are celebrating our son's third birthday.
He turns three in about a week and so we are in Anaheim, California to go to Disneyland.
Abby's already downstairs.
Apparently, there's a long line for the shuttle.
This is the last time that our son can get in for free because once your kid turns three,
then they're no longer free at Disneyland or Disney World.
You have to pay for their ticket.
Let's do this, Griff.
Are you excited?
Yeah.
I'm so pumped.
Are you so pumped?
Yeah.
Oh yeah, baby.
Okay, where are we going?
You want to press the button for the elevator?
Press the bottom one.
Press the bottom one?
Yeah.
Good job.
Oh, that's the top one.
One of my favorite parts about being a dad to two little boys is they get just as stoked
to ride the shuttle to Disneyland as the actual rides at Disneyland.
Did you see my shirt?
That's so bad.
That's ridiculous.
That's really bad.
That's bad.
Oh my gosh.
Oh my goodness.
Okay, we made it in the park.
We are now getting our stroller.
What should we start with today?
What sounds like a good ride to do with the kids?
Peter Pan.
You know why I like Peter Pan?
Because that's where we went right after we got engaged.
Yeah, first time we rode right after I asked you to marry me.
The very first thing a Disney cast member says to me as we walk through the park,
what happened to your shirt?
This is bad.
I think we need to go shopping for a new shirt.
I think this is a great excuse.
Yes.
We just tried to go into this clothing store and they told us they're not open.
Even though the whole park is open right now, like you look over here,
everybody's trickling in.
I don't get it.
They have so many cute Disney crew necks.
I feel like I need one of those.
Abby, where are your parents?
What's happening?
They're being bushy.
Hey.
Hey, there they are.
Abby's parents.
All right.
The doors are open.
Abby's parents are watching the kids so we can shop for clothes.
What do we think?
This green one?
No.
No?
I feel like you're going to want a short sleeve.
Here's the thing.
If I pick this out, I feel like it's going to be kind of lame.
Please let me do it.
What if I just got the big t-shirt of Pooh Bear?
Stay on task right now.
Okay.
Sorry.
I think we need to try another shop.
I think you're right.
I think that shop unfortunately did not have what we needed
and our kids are losing it.
They need a ride a ride.
Let's go.
You know what's nice about coming on a day like today?
No lines.
There's going to be no lines.
It's going to be great.
We'll get on everything so quickly.
I told you this was going to be hard.
That's great.
That's not good.
That was the line for Peter Pan.
We would be in there for at least an hour and a half.
So I think we're going to go on to maybe the carousel.
There's nobody on the carousel.
Should we do the carousel with the kids?
We could do the carousel but that doesn't seem like something you should be your first mission.
But we're right here though.
I mean, I think we'd get right on, right?
I've been vetoed.
We're not doing the carousel.
Hey Griffin, look.
There's a big whale over there.
Griff, did you see it?
Whoa.
Go guys.
Okay, I think we found it.
No, I just like that Pluto one.
The Pluto one?
I think that's cute, right?
Pluto or...
Oh yeah, there's some cool ones over there too.
Your call.
Go for it, babes.
I kind of like this one.
Okay, let's do it.
No.
Oh my gosh, Matt.
Seriously?
Stop.
You should have put the other one on top and then slipped it out.
Wait, that looks really good.
That looks really good.
I love Disney World.
Except we're not at Disney World.
Oh, we're not at Disney World.
I swear if I spill coffee on this one too, it's game over.
And I still have coffee left.
It could happen.
I threw it away.
What?
I'm just kidding.
Oh, okay.
It's Donald Duck.
Look who it is.
Oh, they're hugging.
Oh wait, that's a...
Oh, he's giving Donald a hug.
I'm surprised that he's just walking around like that.
Usually they have like a massive line by them.
They're going to follow him till the end though.
Man.
At this point, we're just stalking Donald.
How cute is this?
I'm kind of hot with Donald right now.
We got some beignets.
Mickey beignets.
It's actually kind of sad that it's so saucy around though.
Did you know there wasn't sauce?
You could buy like strawberry sauce, but I didn't think you'd like that.
Oh, okay.
They are really good by themselves.
Oh, you just ate it.
Okay.
That's really good.
I like it.
How many did you eat out of seven?
He's a baby.
This reminds me of that audio.
I know, baby.
It's not funny.
Abby just got the kids a Mickey treat and it's a good one.
It has M&Ms on it, chocolate chips.
We should get you your own Disney treat.
You said a Mickey pretzel.
How about we get you a Mickey pretzel?
Okay.
Let's do a Mickey pretzel.
I'll go get you one.
Okay, so I had to ask a worker where to get a Mickey pretzel because I couldn't find them.
I found a place that sold big pickles and turkey legs.
They told me to go to the refreshment corner.
Hello.
I just need one Mickey pretzel and that is it.
One Mickey pretzel.
I think there's some people down here that want to try the pretzel too.
The toddler tax.
All right.
We just ditched the kids with Tony and Goss.
We could do it right ourselves.
It's almost 40 inches and now it really opened up a whole other world for us.
Yeah.
Here's the problem right now.
I think the reason that our kids are free at the park is because they can't ride half
the rides.
It feels wrong.
Like I was like, if we put on an extra pair of socks, I feel like he'd be tall enough
to ride this.
Something about that just feels really bad.
So we're not going to do that.
Well, yeah, because it's for safety.
You look so cute in your little poncho.
Oh no, oh no, oh no.
Abby, I am so wet.
Look at my shirt.
Look at my shirt right now.
I thought I was going to get like a little bit of a splash, but like, look at.
How, what happened to us?
Okay.
We just made it back to our hotel room.
My shirt is off because it is still soaking wet.
I ditched my shoes outside of our hotel room because they're so wet.
So shoes are out here.
Abby is reading a book to Auggie right now.
And we ended up getting the suite for our family because our boys are having unique
sleep needs at this time.
Okay, night-night, Auggie.
You sleep good, okay?
Okay.
Bye, Auggie.
So I just ordered our chicken tenders as well as a quesadilla for us to eat for lunch while
the kids are napping.
I'm going to go ahead and get our chicken, okay?
It was no accident that we didn't eat lunch within Disneyland because in my personal opinion,
you can get much better food and at a much more affordable price outside of the park.
They usually have a restaurant open at the Hyatt Regency where we're staying.
It doesn't open till four.
So right now we're just getting our food at the deli.
Thanks.
Yeah, let me see your video.
Okay, let's go.
Wow, I almost saw your crotch there.
I thought you were going to be so proud.
Wait, no, I am so proud of you.
I'm just joking around.
You do kind of almost see my crotch.
Wait, that was awesome though.
Isn't it?
What a clean transition.
Amazing.
I'm amazing.
Proud of you, babe.
You guys, I haven't been on this vlog very much and it's like always something that I
wish I was on more because it looks like I'm not participating in my marriage right now.
Just know that Abby actually isn't participating in our marriage and family.
She just wants you to think that she is.
Yeah, it's an act.
It's all an act.
That's all this.
Ow.
Okay, let's eat some.
Let's eat the chicken.
It is now four o'clock and Auggie is awake from his nap.
I think Griffin's awake too.
I don't know what's going on in his room.
Abby and Griffin ended up taking a nap together and I took a nap in here with Auggie.
Hi, Auggie.
Hi.
Do you want to go ahead and go back to Disneyland?
Yeah.
You are so big these days.
All right.
Abby, Griffin.
They are not here.
Okay.
I'm just looking at my phone and sure enough, Abby texted me about 30 minutes ago.
Hey, Griffin and I went back to Disney since he didn't sleep.
I guess Auggie and I are just by ourselves in this hotel room.
Where are you, Auggie?
Oh, hi.
I'll just put this kid's pants back on and we'll be on our merry way.
Press the button.
Press that one right there.
Good job.
Oh, not that one.
Okay.
Nice, dude.
You guys look great by the way.
Thank you so much.
You're so nice.
Okay.
So Abby is in line for Dumbo right now.
Auggie and I are going to try to catch up with her.
I'm just weaseling my way around Main Street.
Fun fact about this.
I don't know if you guys knew this, but I'm from Missouri.
Walt Disney grew up in Missouri.
So that basically makes us best friends.
Hey.
Okay.
We spotted Abby and Griffin.
They're on the Dumbo ride.
There they are.
Yay.
It's Griffin up there.
Abby, give me a rundown of what happened with Griffin.
He didn't sleep a wink.
Not at all.
Not even one little bit.
Watched a movie and then went back to the parks.
You guys left like 30 minutes before I woke up with Auggie.
Dinner is served.
I got us some rice plates.
I knew that we probably wouldn't split all of this.
So I got us a vegetable skewer, a chicken skewer, a beef one.
And then I think this is pork.
But then it looks really burnt.
So they got us a second one.
But this one is also a little bit burnt.
But I guess this is how they make it.
Abby just dropped this chicken on the floor and she's still going to eat it.
What is wrong with you?
So not only did Abby shoot her chicken out of the plate,
I got all over my shirt.
I give up.
I can't buy a second shirt.
We've already bought one.
Part of me was thinking it might be a good idea to put our boys down for bed on time.
But after hearing about a special parade that was going to take place at night,
we decided to push bedtime back by three hours.
Okay, we are now in front of the castle and we're trying to get some treats.
Abby wants a Mickey bar.
I would like to get ice cream.
Babe, I think our only way to get over to the treat section
is to go through this mass mob right here.
Wow, there are so many people here.
Thank you so much.
Oh yeah, this looks amazing.
How's that Mickey bar?
I want to watch this electrical parade, but I don't know where we're going to stand.
I ended up getting a blue raspberry with a pina colada mix,
which sounds really weird, I know, but it's hitting so hard right now.
Have you tried this, babe?
No.
No? Do you want to try it?
I don't know.
Does it just seem weird?
Yeah, kind of.
You know how in the movie Inside Out, there's this concept of core memories?
Yeah, I think this night was one of those for our boys,
because they were amazed and stared in awe as fireworks exploded into the sky
and seeing my two-year-old son just look up at the fireworks.
Kind of like it was a movie.
It just felt like I was seeing him experience something
that he was locking into the back of his mind to hold with him forever.
You know what I do when I feel sad about leaving?
Yeah.
Instead of saying bye, I say see you real soon.
He loves you.
